  1. And in the long run, it will cost them. Same with Disney. Same in most areas of life. Like, I won't shop at Kohl's unless it is on sale because they have conditioned me not to pay full price for anything.
  2. Mark, you are right. They won't shed any tears. But that's the problem with many corporations today. They look at it in the short term rather than the long view of gaining a customer for life. They say, "Well, we can fill your cabin on this cruise." But they may not be able to fill the cabin on the multiple cruises I planned to take over the next few years.
  3. Such poor planning that they lost a customer before they even got them on the boat. We are cancelling our cruise and rebooking with another cruise line.
  4. Yeah, I'm really frustrated about it. They cancelled the cruise, offered me $200 Onboard Credit and a chance to transfer to a select handful of cruises out of the same port and keep my rate OR rebook at prevailing rates. I have a kids sail free promotion that saves us a ton with our two boys. If I had known they were going to cancel the cruise, I would have booked another one when I did this one and got the better offer. I'm beyond frustrated at the complete lack of customer service from RC - to a point where I'm about ready to tell my TA to skip it and I'll never sail on RC. I'm ok with paying the difference between my cruise and a different one, just give me the discounts since they cancelled it, not me. Grrrr.
  5. I know they offered some different cruises, but we struggle because we want a week long cruise that sails over only one Sunday. Hoping my TA can come through with something.
  6. Yep, they offered me something similar. The problem is that all of the Jewel sailings depart/return on Sunday. I am a pastor so being gone one Sunday is tough enough, I'd hate to be gone two in a row. We will work with our TA to see what they can do for us.
  7. I have no idea. I have to admit, it seems odd because the Adventure was just in for refurb, as I understand it.
  8. From my travel agent this morning: "Royal Caribbean’s Adventure of the Seas will receive all new enhancements during a 30-day dry-dock beginning January 13, 2018, to include the addition of specialty restaurant Izumi Japanese Cuisine, new inside and oceanview staterooms and a Suite Lounge. In order to accommodate the dry-dock, the January 13, 2018 through February 10, 2018 sailings have been cancelled. As a result of this change, we need to reaccommodate guests booked on these sailings. As a gesture of good will, we will be offering the following compensation package."
  9. Holy Cow - I can't imagine what it used to be like then. ;)
  10. They must be blessed more than I am - because I couldn't take IT anymore. :D
  11. I totally get it - I left IT and entered the ministry because God is easier to understand and deal with than computers. ;)
  12. Thanks everyone - I just find their website very frustrating (honestly, most websites are frustrating as a former IT guy, I know how it SHOULD be done). I'll just keep checking.
  13. We are set to sail on the Adventure of the Seas next January (2018) and I keep checking to see when I can book things like excursions, drink packages, etc. It won't let me book anything. Is this because we went through a TA? Or, am I just too eager? Thanks!
  14. I look forward to hearing about your trip - we have this same cruise booked for Jan of 2018. :)
  15. We are hitting St. Thomas, St. Kitts, Sea Day, Curacao, Aruba, Cruising.
  16. 2018 - long after the refurbishment. ;) And, WaaayTooo, I don't work for the government but I am on the look out for a good hotel for our couple of days in San Juan.
  17. Thanks, everyone! We just booked Adventure for San Juan in January 2018. We plan to fly down a couple of days early to spend some time in SJ before boarding and then heading home. Thanks for confirming the decision!
  18. The Topic says it all - itineraries are similar out of San Juan. Which is the better ship?
  19. Thanks - we are super excited about the prospect of another cruise and spent the night last night looking at excursions.:)
  20. I found something close to what I am looking for - http://www.cruisetimetables.com/. This gives all the sailings out of a given port for a given date. Hopefully this helps something.
  21. Yeah, I have a feeling I would be told "You have a calendar." :) And thanks - we are excited to cruise again.
  22. Hey all - new to these parts but not to cruising. 3 time DCL veterans and love cruising - and have sailed with Matt ... not on Royal Caribbean but Pirates of the Caribbean ... After hearing Matt on another Disney podcast, I decided to check out RC and am willing to give it a go based on the prices and his sterling recommendation. That said, I have a couple of questions. Looking at a cruise in January or February 2018. I see that not all of 2018's itineraries have been released but curious if all for the beginning of year have. Just curious if we should wait for more options or start looking at what's out there now. Also, is there a easy way to search for cruises that leave on a certain day (like I want a 7 night cruise that leaves on Saturday)? I am a pastor and don't want to miss two Sundays in a row - they may figure out they can do it without me. ;) Thanks in advance - hopefully these questions make sense!
