Why would you be so concerned where someone else spends their money?  I can see why you wouldn't want to do it, but why plea for someone else not to? How could it possibly affect you?
I got it for last Feb's Mariner cruise. 4-day cruise, $19.99/day. If I eliminate what I would have paid for Voom, used my $25 OBC toward it, I basically paid $5-10 total for the rest of the perks (ummm....a nice embarkation day lunch?).  I enjoyed having my carry on waiting in my room when I finally had access to it.  Would I personally do it on every cruise? Certainly not.  But it's a fine deal on short sailings if it can be snagged at the lower prices.

Deck 2 will be converted for the placement of OARS.  There will be rowing skills competition. As well as if you misbehave you will be sent rowing and not to the galley.  No more time outs for the kids.    Everybody sing along..  ROW ROW ROW YOUR SHIP.  GENTLY ACROSS THE OCEAN.  The fuel savings will be so great that the big muck a mucks will see nice year end bonuses. As for the rest of us we will get something in the effect of perhaps an admission price at COCO CAY.  Or a 2 for 1 deluxe drink package for $ 150 perhaps.  Sign of the times.   You just never know what evil lurks out there.

fonemanbob reacted to WAAAYTOOO in Hotel recommendations for a port Canaveral cruise?
When we cruise out of Port Canaveral and arrive a day ahead we do the following:
    1.  Rental a car at the airport from Hertz for a one-way rental to be turned in at Cape Canaveral.  There is no one-way surcharge for a one-way car rental.
    2.  Stay at the Residence Inn 8959 Astronaut Blvd, CC  321-323-1100.  The cost was $195 plus tax
The reason to rent with Hertz is b/c the Hertz car rental office shares a parking lot with the Residence Inn.  You are able to use your rental car all day to do whatever you want to do - go sight seeing - visit Kennedy Space Center - eat lunch, dinner whatever you want.  Then you can return the car after hours, leave the keys in their late night drop box and walk a few steps over to the Residence Inn for the night.
The Residence Inn has a shuttle to the port the next day.

A bit of a funny story regarding irons (at least it was funny for my wife).  Not suggesting anything here but wanted to share as you might get a kick out of it.
We have been cruising now for over 20 years and back when we started we use to pack a travel iron.  It was nice and compact while doing a pretty good job in getting most of the travel wrinkles out.  As the years passed (and several cruises as well), Royal became more vocal on the prohibition of those type of devices.  At the time we did not really have an appreciation for the risk associated with them on a ship but rather figured they just wanted to sell more services.
We are not the type to really break any rules but are not perfect by any stretch of the imagination.  We were going on our cruise and packed our garment bag at the time as we always did.  We arrived at the ship and dropped off the bags with the luggage valet (as everyone always does), and proceeded to the ship.  We spent the day as we usually do and went to the room to get ready for dinner.  Everything was going as it always did and we were in the relax mode already.  All was good until we looked for the bags in the hall and noticed that the garment bag was not there.
Since we were sailing and it was well past the time to get bags to the rooms i elected to call guest services to inquire.  Guest services then transferred me to security.  Security got on the phone and said they had my bag and I needed to go down to deck 2 and see them.  No real explanation so I now start to grow concerned.  I tell my wife and off I go.
When I get to security and tell them who I am they bring my bag over.  I immediately indicate it is my bag and was relieved it was there.  The security guard then asks me if I have any contraband.  What?  My mind is racing and I'm thinking someone stuck drugs in my bag or something and this is it for me.  I responded with a very firm no, and thinking the worst, I then looked around to see if there were any gloves nearby.  I was happy to see there were none.  They asked me again if I had contraband and I said no, you can look if you want. They quickly open the bag (as if they already knew what was there and where it was), and pulled out the travel iron.  I immediately tell them what it is and feel relieved that it was not what I feared.  They proceed to educate me politely, retain the iron for the remainder of the cruise, and give me my bag.  What a story to tell my wife.
The following year we cruise again and low and behold it happened again.  What is this woman doing to me?  She just was in the habit of storing the travel iron in the bag and forgot to remove it.  At that point I told the cruise to throw it out!  Happy to report we are now about a decade free of contraband searches and I'm still married to my lovely bride :-)

Can't stand the slippery nipple and sex on the beach...I was a cocktail waitress in college, I always felt that people ordered for a shock purpose.  It is bailey's and Sambuca, layered in a shot glass.  For me, if I wanted a drink like that I would order a B52 after dinner.  B52s are layered like the slippery nipple.  It is Baileys, Kahlua and Gran Marnier.   OBTW bartenders hate when you order layer drinks because to layer it, requires pouring the alcohol on the back of the spoon so it does not mix.  That means time, unlike ordering a Jack and Coke.
If Bailey's and shots are in your wheelhouse.  Order a BRAIN.  It is schnapps (usually peppermint).  Than they pour in Baileys, and finally a dash of grenadine.  The Baileys coagulates in the schnapps and then the dash of grenadine will travel in it to look like blood veins in the brain.
My husband loves the frozen concoctions when sailing.  On land he is a Bulleit Bourbon and Coke guy.  He likes the Kracken lava flow and Miami vice.
I believe Miami vice is 1/2 pina colada and 1/2 strawberry daiquiri.
At Bolero's they have my favorite drink.  It is called either the Royal Marq'rita or Crown Marq'rita.  It is a traditional margarita, but they add Royal Crown in.  If you like magaritas than you want to go to that bar since they have a huge selection of specialty margaritas.  I typically do not like my margaritas frozen, and request it on the rocks, which they will do.
Typically on a cruise I like to have Caribbean style drinks that are not frozen.  I will say the only one I won't order on RCL is the Mojito.  Tried it on every ship we have sailed, and it really isn't like what you get on land.  I understand why.  The bars are always packed and they don't have the time to muddle the mint which is key.

The problem is you need TWO ALCOHOLICS for each cabin.....  LMAO...  Just an FYI... not all drinks are $12, a regular Vodka with a Juice or a Martini I think was about $8 to $10.
I just figured my cost on the Allure a few weeks back was 57/day/person or 798 for the week for drink with Internet, take 9 off for internet leaves 48 or 672 for the week.  So we had approx 55 drinks mostly Vodka and juice or a Martini, they were about $8 each (cost of Most vodka drinks) ($440).  We had about 8 large Specialty coffees (lattes) about $6 each ($36).  We had about 5 fresh squeezed juices, about $3 each($15).  We had about 20 waters at about $3.50 each($70).  So my total was 440+36+15+70=547, so I lost about $125.  Even if they charged $10 each for the Vodka Drinks that would add another $110 and I would still be $15 short.    And this was just me drinking.....  NO only kidding...
Not thinking the package is worth it then and with the prices going up, really not worth it now.

Added that missing bit, because let's be honest -- over the span of a 3 or 4 day cruise where you have one port that lets you use the drink package and it's maybe not a big deal. Get up to a 5 or 7 nighter, or even longer, and that extra cocktail each day becomes a bigger and bigger mountain to climb. Especially when you factor in the port days that don't let you use the package to its full extent unless you're "making up for it" after you get back from port.
My drinking capacity (aka my liver) hasn't magically changed just because the price went up. I'm fine having 3 drinks a day on average -- two at dinner, plus one mid-day or an after-dinner cocktail. Embarkation day and the first sea day I can probably swing one or two extra, but after that the alcohol fatigue definitely sets in trying to down those extra drinks. That's why I figured out that $45-$50 per day is my limit on buying the package, and that's after factoring in the non-alcoholic stuff I typically drink.
If Royal doesn't want to support that price point any longer, that's fine; it's their business and they can run it how they choose. I'll just switch to the Refreshment Package as my standard buy (until that gets too expensive, anyway ?) and go a la carte for my cocktails and / or wine. Royal still gets the same amount of my money as they would have gotten before, I just have to deal with the annoyance of paying it after the cruise instead of before.

sex on the beach, slippery nipple, fuzzy navel, Jack and Coke, slow gin fizz, whatever they are drinking, Bahama Mama, Hendricks and tonic. And last is the drink of the day. Always a crowd favorite.  You will have plenty to choose from. And hopefully not a headache or hangover.  Please hydrate.
