I like the 2 nighters cause it gives you a feel for that type of ship and whether or not

You can rent a venue or ask to have a private venue for family events -but actually having a wedding they
will mind - you could call it a vow renewal if you are already married like the day before - you would have to
get in touch with the ship for this

Yep agree with others- you can't rebook normally after final - but they do offer sometimes good upgrades for little to no cost up to the amount you are paying on your current reservation - And also agree last minute bookers do not care where on the ship they are, they just want a good deal but
I think all lines are starting to move away from deep discounts - I know NCL is not going below certain thresholds now either.

Perryhouse, please do not be overly concerned with the reviews that you read online. It has been my experience that some people just like to complain. Honestly, I don't know where some of these complaints come from ! I wonder if it's a competitor just planting bogus bad reviews sometimes.
 
I sailed on the Explorer in November of 2014 for 14 days (repositioning from NYC to Port Canaveral - before the refurb) and it was glorious ! I think it all comes down to what you expect, going in. If you expect perfection then you will be disappointed. This is your first cruise so you don't have anything to compare it to. You will love it ! I found the crew to be very thoughtful and pleasant.
 
Don't let those bogus reviews worry you. The ship will be beautiful, big, fun and you will have a blast.
 
I'm not sure what upgrades they made to the Explorer in drydock but I'm sure they will make her an even more beautiful ship. It looks like they have replaced Portofino's with a Chops Grill (steakhouse - Deck 11) and they have added Giovanni's Table down on deck 4. Honestly, the food is wonderful in the Main Dining Room so if you don't feel you want to spend the extra money on the "premium" restaurants, don't. I rarely do !

If that was true - on your confirmation you can read the "offers"  like BOGO - or Free BEV - if you have both things listed there for free
ask for a supervisor and tell them in good faith that is what you were promised and would like to keep

On Quantum they had a variation on white hot.  They had a glow party where you could bring or buy glow sticks and other things that glowed. Certainly white clothes help with the effect.

You'll be up quite late (we didn't get back to the hotel until 2:30am), but if you can do it I recommend the bioluminescent bay trip.  It's surreal!

great discussion - I think the Chinese/Japanese market is going to do very well for all cruise lines
they are among the most well traveled groups of people across all travel fields/destinations and I
think putting newer and better ships there will pay off

The Odyssey sailings as you know are now open - 7 segments -
They are rumoring August - to October for now but I will keep checking on this

Given that it hasn't worked out in the past for me because of various price reductions and the fact that the incentive isn't all that high, it's not worth it to me. I'd rather spend the time with my TA discussing it with her given that she's more knowledgeable anyways.

Sometimes the best days to book cruises are on the first few days the line
opens them for booking - think Alaska is one of these for sure.  AS with all
things they are subject to change.
 
So here is the opening days you can book cruises with RCI for future dates
Week of March 9th    - Summer/Fall Caribbean 2016 and Northeast and Canada
Week of March 15th -  Europe and Alaska 2016
Week of March 30th -  Winter Caribbean 2017 and Northeast
Week of April 13th   -   Exotics and Australia
