  1. Been poking around looking at air fares to Fairbanks from Houston and then from Seattle to Houston. Have folks found that the lowest prices guarantee of Air2Sea is really lower? I'm not seeing that. It looks like the best time to book flights is 90 days b4 cruise (lowest fares).
  2. Looking at the excursions on the 7 night southbound from Seward. Mostly all I'm seeing is Mendenhall stuff and of course the 2 hours spent cruising the Hubbard Glacier. I was hoping to find some tours into Tracy Arms and had contacted directly several (Adventure Bound, Glacier Wind & True Alaskan). Most said best to book through the cruise line. Is it possible that after the first of the year, the excursions for our cruise (May '19) will be updated to include more glacier tours while in Juneau? Or does that not happen?
  3. Thanks all that replied. I'll most likely do Voom since I want to use my iPad for email and and Joy has a FB fix.
  4. kind of thought that but had to ask. So, no Eagles flying around with cell antennae. Pretty sure I'll go with a Voom drink package
  5. I had the same room show and disappear 3 times while trying to upgrade. Strange. Real strange.
  6. Galveston also did away with them, at least as of June 10th, when we disembarked. Nice not to have that pesky form to fill out.
  7. We had a strange thing happen today. We were upgrading to a suite and the room would show on the deck plan as available and as default selected. If we would call to book, it was not there. If we logged out, then back in it was not there. Doing that a second time and it was there. It appeared and disappeared a few times. We finally did get it upgraded by phone and the cruise vacation receipt now reflects the change. My wife thinks that when a person selects the room, it is put on temporary hold for a few minutes, then released if you do not confirm. It can be very frustrating when you are looking at a very particular grand suite on the stern hump!! Fun, fun.
  8. Not sure what kind of Verizon coverage we will get when cruising from Seward to Vancouver. Any thoughts?
  9. We found that many photos were missing from the ones taken.Had to spend a huge amount of time sorting and looking through the thousands on their computers. They do not make it easy - the photo shop is a kiosk where you cannot sit down to search.
  10. Just did a room upgrade on Radiance and both were showing. What KathyC says^^
  11. We have passport cards. Read that we need to renew to passport book ($131/each). Our cruise ends at Vancouver, Canada from a start in Fairbanks (flew in from Texas). Looking to rent a car and explore Victoria, Vancouver, & Seattle. If we are crossing to U.S. by car and will get a flight from Seattle to home (Texas), will not the passport cards be all we need? Having a difficult time finding this info online. Most say by car and ship, okay for passport card only but flying from Vancouver to Seattle to Houston, need passport book. But if we drive over border, only card needed. What do y'all know? Any experiences?
  12. We are planning our first Alaska cruise and have a ton of questions. I'll toss them out in separate post over the next weeks or months. Have not decided on when or what cruise line yet. On the RCI cruise tour Grand Mountain Marvels from Fairbanks to Seward, I'm trying to find out how long I have free time in Anchorage. I'm wanting to do a late lunch at the 7 Glaciers Restaurant in Girdwood about 30 miles east on highway 3. Just don't know the schedule while in Anchorage.
  13. Well, if sorted by afternoon excursions, they both show up there also. I would think that an 8-5 time span would allow time for two short excursions id one was am and the other pm. Just trying to sort some of this out b4 getting on-board.
  14. Unfortunately it looks as if both are morning tours.
  15. In port 8-5. I'm going blind looking but it was Belize. Just not sure what times the excursions might start to squeeze them both in. Length: Manatees & Mangrove River Tours 2:30 Belize City by Carriage 2:00
  16. Is there a way to know how many excursions we might cram in on one day? So I might want to take a Manatee river ride that is 3 hours and a cartridge tour of the city that takes 2 hours. How do I know if I can fit both in?
  17. Actually, the bill has already posted for that time frame and nothing unusual. I figured that it must be that the ships clocks were set on GMT, especially when I noticed all the engine control room monitors with embedded clocks. I could not understand why all the apps were attempting updates since none were needed and most often the phone ask b4 doing updates. Queer stuff indeed. My first cruise so the learning curve was to be expected. We have already signed up for my second cruise. We had an awesome time.
  18. Agree with SeaSetter Guacamole at Sabor Also roam the ship with a wide angle lens http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r472/kdrago_album/Poolside.jpg http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r472/kdrago_album/Stairway.jpg
  19. Went on RCI cruise out of Galveston on May 1st. Turned my Verizon Droid off. Later found it on and updating all apps. Left it on but turned off roaming. Used it as an alarm clock to make sure that we got up on time. When I got up I noticed that the time was now on GMT - 5 hours ahead!! Tried setting the clock on the phone but kept resetting itself. Finally turned it off again even though I had brought it along to run a gps app which also seemed to act strange. I did not know about airplane mode but do now. So far, have not seen any strange charges to my cel bill. Can anyone explain why my phone would switch to GMT? I did notice that all the clocks in the engine control room on the monitor screens was GMT but the wall clock was local time.
  20. Just an update. Got a simple app for the Moto X called Simple GPS. It is just precisely what I was looking for. Was free, gives number of Sat locked, Lat and Long to 7 decimal places, altitude and speed if moving and also a compass. It's very simple, fast and my phone has a hell of a lot more CPU power than the 20 year old Trimble I was thinking of carrying on board.
  21. I was wondering if anyone has noticed if the water in the rooms (bathing and washing) is soft or hard water. Those folks that use a water softener at home will know what I'm referring to. Soft water, when you bath or shower in it, feels like the soap does not want to wash off - slippery skin. Hard water leaves soap curd on your skin and leaves it feeling rough. Any comments would be helpful.
  22. Does Liberty of the Seas have adult only areas like pools and others so that we might from time to time avoid the Harmonics?
  23. Maybe the Still water listed at http://www.cruisemapper.com/wiki/712-royal-caribbean-all-you-can-drink-alcohol-packages is simply 1/2 liter cup of ice water?
  24. Ok, so my sweetie prepaid for the Select Beverage Package since she is a big beer and wine drinker. As for me, I'm pretty much a non alcohol guy. I'm always the designated driver on the boat. I'm fairly sure I can make a great big dent in the Royal Replenish Package - we're doing a 7 day western Caribbean out of Galveston. I'm wondering what the difference is between bottled water and still water (500ml). I think both are non carbonated in containers. I know that neither has fizz like Sparkling water.
