  1. Just saw you also wanted recommendations for the ports: Gibraltar - do a rock tour. Pick up a shared mini-van taxi from Cathedral Square. Think it was about €20 a couple of years ago. It's worth it for seeing St Michael's cave alone - that place is breathtaking. The seige tunnels are also well worth a visit and are nice and cool during the heat of the day. We walked up. It was a hard hike but worth it for the views on the way. Barcelona- Get a rickshaw tour. I'd probably plump for the Gaudi tour. Stroll the gothic quarter and enjoy some tapas. Lisbon - get a tuk-tuk tour to see the main sights and then relax in the old town or commerce square with a glass of vino verde.
  2. Did I ever tell you about the time we went on a road trip from Ann Arbor, MI to Tennessee and Kentucky?: Day 1 - Ann Arbor, MI to Knoxville, TN Day 2 - Dollywood Day 3 - Gatlinburg, TN Day 4 - Nashville, TN Day 5 - Louisville, KY and back to Ann Arbor Now that was an exhausting trip but we made some great memories!
  3. I like the variety in the WJ but find that for dinner, it lacks ambience and I don't line the plastic plates (they don't bother me at breakfast or lunch!) and add Joe said, I don't like having to make sure there's someone saving my seat whilst I'm up getting food/drink meaning that you don't really end up eating together.
  4. You have to go through the process as though you were booking a speciality restaurant but without having to pay anything. On the tab with the speciality restaurants, you should see an MTD option.
  5. I'd recommend the Park Plaza hotels. We've stayed in the Westminster one and the Victoria one. Both a great standard and good location. Mercure London Bridge is also good.
  6. Ephesus is incredible - not to be missed. You can see the foundations and last remaining column of the Temple of Artemis (one of the 7 wonders of the world) and the Library of Celsus. The weather at the beginning of May should be pretty pleasant but there is a possibility of showers and some overcast days if you're unlucky. Evenings are likely to be cool too but I don't usually find that a problem when cruising as I'm normally at sea with my beer jacket on by then!
  7. In Gibraltar, Barcelona and Lisbon, you are docked very close to town. Gibraltar & Lisbon - you can walk into the main shopping/tourist area. Barcelona - take the shuttle bus as it's a bit of a long walk over a busy bridge. Marseille - we were docked in La Seyne Sur Mer which is quite a distance away. Didn't go to Marseille though, just went into Toulon by water taxi. Nice little town to have a wander around. We were there on a Sunday and although most of the large shops were closed, there was a fantastic street market. Haven't been to Alicante, Ibiza or Cherbourg
  8. I'd check with the airline. Have a great cruise. Looking forward to following along.
  9. Is this available on all Oasis Class for no charge?
  10. I'm not 100% certain but as far as I understand it, in the UK, once you book and pay your deposit, that's the price you're paying and you're getting what you booked. You could cancel but you'd lose your deposit so would have to factor that in to any cost saving on a new booking. And, FWIW, it's aluminium and I can say that with absolute certainty since we invented the language ? (don't get me started on colour or the use of the letter z instead of s ?)
  11. Use the ones provided on the pool deck. Not only will thou save packing space, but you'll also have nice clean towels for the duration of your cruise as there's nowhere on board to wash any if you bring your own.
  12. Snacks and pizza from Cafe Promenade and Sorrento's are also included ?
  13. I haven't analysed the deal prices but from others' analyses, I believe that the price you see when it says '50% off second package' is the price per person after the discount has been applied.
  14. We did Western Med from Southampton last summer and loved it! Not sure what other ports you have but if you're in Livorno and want to visit Florence, I'd recommend doing an RC excursion for peace of mind due to the distance and notoriously bad traffic and also for Monaco. That's not so far from the port of Ville Franche but it is along asingle carriageway coastal road that can also be extremely busy. Our RC excursion was delayed getting back due to heavy traffic and didn't get back until past the advertised time for the last tender boat. It wasn't a problem though and the guide reassured us that they'd keep running the tenders until we were all back onboard. If you share your other ports I'd be happy to let you know tips for any I've been to.
  15. I think (but don't quote me) that we don't necessarily get offered the same sales in the UK. I had a look a week ago for prices for my Christmas sailing on Allure and waterpark day passes were £49.37pp
  16. Just from the one picture of your suite it looks amazing!
  17. We initially decide together budget, ship and itinerary then I deal with all of the actual booking and arrangements and my husband pays. He promptly forgets where he is going and on which ship. If it weren't for my planning, he'd never go anywhere ?
  18. Thanks for sharing your cruise with us. Hope you have a safe journey home and that the post-cruise depression doesn't hit too hard.
  19. That's why it wouldn't be any good for my MIL who has somewhat limited mobility. I'll be fine though ?
  20. It will be my 3rd time in Civitavecchia this test but I'll be visiting Rome for the 1st time. Your photos look lovely and whilst I'm not looking forward to the summer crowds in the heat of August, I am looking forward to seeing the sights. Your Cinque Terre photos have also made me consider booking a trip there whilst we are in Livorno...
