melski94 got a reaction from MikeK in Passports on Excursions: To take or not to take
I am a Team Passport and take it in foreign ports (not in RC islands). This is always a hot topic and you will get different views.  If you are American, you have 2 RC islands and 2 US territory ports so I would leave my passport in the safe.  Make sure you bring some form of photo ID like a driver's license and that will get you back to the US.    If from another country, then take your passports with you to Puerto Rico and St. Thomas.  People say that a photo copy is ok and it is better than nothing but you'd still have to deal with your embassy to get a real passport and get home.  If you have a passport in hand, you can get on any flight.

melski94 got a reaction from Psycho and Barb in liquor store on the ship
I would go to your local liquor store and get an idea of what the prices are at home. If you'd like to buy rum and whiskey, then price those with sizes...I usually take pictures of tags. That is really the only way to know if you are getting a good deal or not.

melski94 got a reaction from SpicyCherry in Outlets in Symphony Grand Suite Bathroom
Just came off of Symphony in a 2 bedroom grand suite.  The only outlet that I remember is the electric shaving outlet and it was on the ceiling.  I dried my hair using the bedroom vanity outlet (and that is where the RC hair dryers were stashed).

melski94 got a reaction from CCE in First Time Sky Class Questions - Symphony
Thanks for posting.  We're about to sail our first Sky class suite in March and had so many questions.
One more that wasn't addressed:  What can we wear in CK and suite lounge?  Can you wear shorts for lunch?  Can a guy wear nice jeans for dinner with a button down shirt?
We typically tip extra at meals in the MDR but we typically have the same table and staff.  This probably isn't the same in CK.  So if you were to tip extra, do you tip each night?

melski94 got a reaction from KristiZ in COVID Testing Near Times Square
I stayed near Times Square for a week in October and needed testing for my daughter to see Broadway shows.  They were literally on almost every block in a van.  By far the easiest place to get Covid testing since you need it for shows.  Ask your hotel for the one near where you are staying.

melski94 got a reaction from ClaudiaM in Cozumel Dolphin Discovery
I ended up chatting with Dolphin Discovery.  Just in case anyone does a search, here are my answers.
Royal Swim VIP includes an upgraded buffet.  You can't ask to do something else with the dolphins.  Because of that, I chose the Dolphin Swim Adventure with memories.  I debated with the Swim adventure only  vs with memories but they said I'll get 10-15 digital pictures each for less than price as purchasing 2 pictures (after bargaining) of each of us.
The Dolphin Discovery website is offering a promotion (not sure if there is always a promotion) that is cheaper than RC excursion.  My biggest problem with the RC excursion is that it is only 3.5 hours where we can make a full day of it on our own.  Transportation isn't included but I know it is a short and inexpensive taxi to Chankanaab Park. Finally if you book on your own, use the chat feature.  They offer even further discounts and will add in extras (in my case the manatee interaction).  You do have to pay in full but they do have a refund policy if the ship doesn't make it to port.

I bring my hair straightener, a curling iron and a blow dryer.  Not a problem.
What cruise compass did you read that in?  I've never seen anything like that.

melski94 got a reaction from gregorykicks in Labadee: Help me decide on a beach bungalow!
I know others are fans of Nellie's Beach but with your age kids, I'd highly suggest the beach bungalows on Columbus Beach.  The bungalow area is blocked off from the public so it is very easy to keep an eye on the kids, the sand is great for playing in and the water is calm.  Plus, the bungalows are cheaper.

This was our set up.  We had 7 people and some wanted more sun so the attendant dragged 2 chairs next to the other 2.  Later we took the 2 beach chairs to the water's edge.

View from the bungalow to the water.

We were on Harmony.  The really crowded section is the public area on Columbus Beach.  Where the line of chairs stop is the bungalow section.  As you can see less, less crowded and some with bungalows  just pulled chairs down to the water.

melski94 got a reaction from cruisellama in Thrill Waterpark cabana yes or no?
We are a family of 6 so completely full on the cabana.  Even with all 6 of us, full day waterpark passes would save us $275 (waterpark prices are now up).  My husband doesn't think we'll use the cabana as much as if we were on the beach.  Then again we might need a break from all the stairs!

melski94 got a reaction from WAAAYTOOO in FCC should be returned to who paid the bill, not named cruisers
I'm not sure issuing FCC per person is unusual.  Cruises are very similar to the airline industry.  For my airline tickets that I had for my cancelled March sailing, each person received a credit.  It doesn't matter to them who paid for the airline ticket.  This is the same reason each person gets cruise/airline points rather than whomever purchased the cruise/flight.
If cruise points were similar to hotels and  went solely to the purchaser, I'd easily be Diamond Plus now.

In Roatan, we loved the snorkeling there and I thought better than many of the other islands.  We used Roatan Eco Tours the first time and the second time we booked with Daniel Johnson.  Our trip with Daniel Johnson was cancelled due to Covid19, but we were really looking forward to the Snorkel, hangout, beach tour.

We made our decision early but on Monday my husband's company stated that anyone who gets sick after a cruise ship vacation quarantined for a minimum of 30 days unpaid (or use your vacay time).  That made our decision much more tolerable plus we are still going somewhere.  Many companies in my area are having a mandatory 14 days self quarantine if you go on a cruise ship.  It is so crazy right now!
