  2. Still 35 on indepenence plus currently bogo on 2 night package
  3. Great tip about tips. One of our rooms is accessible. So I know we can not upgrade. But if we can get tips taken care of that would be great. Our cruise is not until spring but I will keep this in mind.
  4. So I was doing my daily price check and noticed the taxes and fees for my cruise has lowered. So I called rccl to see if I could get the price lowered. However I was told that in order to change the taxes and fees I would have to rebook my cruise. I cant do that because I got such a great deal I would have to pay a few hundred more for the cruise to save $30 on taxes and fees. I then asked for a obc for the $30. But after checking with the supervisor was told they could not do it. Why? Has anyone ever been able to get the taxes and fees lowered with out changing cruise cost? It is not the end of the world but I hate to spend more than necessary.
  5. Okay so i read that we can only bring wine champagne on board. But what about sparkling cider? And would it count towards our room allotment? I do not drink soda or alcohol so i will not have those with dinner. However we are bringing our alotment of wine for the other adults. I thought if i could bring sparkling cider to dinner the kids and i could enjoy it.
  6. I am going in March and reservations just opened.
  7. I would recommend not having a room with a balcony. Even if you have an alert that wakes you. By the time you wake up something could have happend to your daughter.
  8. A couple of people have mentioned that soda is included at jr. I can not find anywhere that confirms this. And as we all know rccl does not have the best website. Can anyone who was not on the drink plan confirm that the sodas are included? Because i am just wondering if maybe the people who got the free soda at jr got it bc server saw the sticker on the card.
  9. Vegetarian = does not eat any animals but eats things that come from animals like milk and honey Vegan= eats nothing that comes from animals Pescetarian= does not eat birds and land animals
  10. I am traveling on the independence in the spring for 4 days with 3 generations and 1 stop in cozumel and have a few questions. First time on rccl. Thanks. 1) I have heard that you can put a limit on the seapass. But that it will alow kids to go over limit in the arcade. Is this still accurate? 2)I plan to treat myself to the spa. I am both a planner and frugal. I am trying to decide between prebooking or possibly getting a discount once on board. What would you recommend? 3) I do not see any spa treatments listed on the booking page for teens. Do they offer them on the independence? My niece will be 14. 4)are any classes for adults included in fare? 5) i have read that some people have really been hurt. I am not all that gracefull. But i plan on doing it. Any recommendations? 6) can i get free icecream? Not frozen yogurt 7) i know at johnny rockets you need to pay a second fee for drinks including shakes. Do they charge a service fee for ordering things that are normally free like water and lemonade? 8) where on the independence can i get my free drinks? I am assuming i wont get them at tge bars? 9)with grease now on board how is seating working? Do we prebook? Get tickets on board? Or just show? Also is seating going to be different because of wheelchair? 10) we will also go to the ice show will ticketing be any different because of wheelchair? 11) any recommendations for activities for seniors? 12) anyone that is a permanat wheelchair user that has tips for the independence? 13) what are your recommendations and tips?
  11. I check the website almost daily. When the price goes down I call and they change it.

  13. I have gotten 5 price drops since I booked mine and did not have to cancel
  14. I just checked mine and the site is working. I did it from my iphone so it may different on a computer. After you log in on the middle of the page it says purchased and held cruises.click onthe reservation number. When next page comes lookon the right side in the blue section. Original and balance are posted.
  15. I am concerned of my food options on a shore excursion. Still debating between a 3 and 8 hour excursion. If they do not have food I can eat then I will have to go with the shorter excursion so I can eat on the ship. Any ideas about vegetarian options on these shore excursions? I have heard provide a brown bag lunch but what does that mean for me?
  16. I live in an area that is a huge tourist destination in the U.S. and some of the best paid people around are servers. Some easily making six figures. Of course those servers would never advertise this because they want the patrons leaving huge tips. So I have to wonder how much are these cruise employees really making. They have free room and board. So all these "tips" are just adding up in the bank. On my last cruise our server told us that with only 2 years under her belt she was about to buy a house in full. I have know problem with leaving a nice tip for great service. But should you really be leaving huge tips because you think the server needs the money?
  17. I noticed that on the sale page it states that kids sale free on 5+ night cruises. However I am going on a 4 night and was given the kids free. saving hundreds. So if you are going on a 3 or 4 night you might want to double check.
  18. Well I spent an hour on the phone with rccl and talked to 3 different people. And I was told that the reason behind the pricing difference was because the accessible room had a different letter than the regular inside room. I do not really understand the letter system but I guess I will go with it. Thanks for all information. And to clarify the cruise line said it had nothing to do with size or accessiblity.
  19. Well I have to say that I do not think it has anything to do with room size. Since I am booked on independence for next year as well and pricing was the same per person was the same for both rooms. A lot of people think that accessible rooms are a lot bigger but in reality they are not much bigger. The main differences are that the door itself is wider so that your wheelchair can fit through the door. The bathroom is bigger because for the rollin shower (but it also makes it messier). And they have less furniture so that the wheelchair can move about. Unfortunately alot of people are under the impression they are bigger and better so they book rooms they do not need. Leaving fewer of the few for people in real need. I am used to haveing to plan eons in advance. I also don't mind that we pay full price when going somewhere that is mostly inaccessible for wheelchairs. But I am certainly not of the mind to pay more.
  20. So I have been playing with the idea of sending my parents on a cruise for their anniversary. Today I was pricing a cruise and realized I forgot to hit for accessible room. So I went back and did this and the price for the stateroom went up by hundreds. So doing some digging I found that this particular ship (majesty) only has four accessible staterooms. So I was thinking maybe based in that. But I checked this ship for different dates and the differences varied. Some date were the same, some a little more, and others significantly more. You would think maybe it would be based on how many of those four rooms are left but the original cruise i was looking at is a year and a half away and the furthest out of all the cruises i looked at. It is bad enough that you have to plan well in advance just to get room but to get charged more is unacceptable. Has anyone else run into this problem? Why is the pricing like this?
  21. We are a family of seven. It is very rare for all of us to actually be together at the same time. So I do not want share a table. This will probably be the only time we will all be together during the cruise. How can we arrange this. We are currently scheduled for the early mdr. Thanks.
  22. Update. After talking with a rccl rep wanted to give you an update about the $100 fee. If you decide to book the excurion with rccl the $100 fee is paid towards your excursion. However if you decline the excursion then the $100 is a fee paid for the work done. So you have until the end of the month to not be penalized if you choose not to book.
  23. Yes the private journey. From my understanding they ussually charge a $100 fee but it is being waved until the end of the month.
  24. Since rccl is waving the private excursion fee I am thinking of doing this for our day in Cozumel. Does anyone have any experience these private excursions? What are your thoughts on them? Also any ideas of what to plan? I definitely want to do one of the ruins. We are a party of 6/7 with children.
  25. Awesome. Thanks for the information.
