  1. Voyager 10/12 Voyager 10/16 Double the birthdays, double the fun!
  2. I swear 45S is never going to be done... We will all be flying around in Jetson's-style hover cars, and we'll be able to watch them endlessly tearing up parts of 45 below, lol. People who don't live here just can't understand how variable the travel time can be, not only because of the construction but because of all the horrible accidents the construction causes every day. The freeway has been shut down completely at least 3 times already this week because of accidents on 45S, and it's only Tuesday. I work here on the island and only live about 33 miles away, and there have been days when it has taken me 2+ hours to go only that far due to accidents. Statistically, odds are that any given traveler will never have an issue getting to or coming from here... But I would make sure I had real good travel insurance if coming in the day of a cruise!
  3. Interesting... Do they function in the same way as the fridges/coolers on Carnival, in that they get WAY cooler if you pull them forward an inch or two and leave the cabinet door open to allow heat to escape? Makes such a ginormous difference on those, but not sure if it works the same way with the type of cooling you describe. It sounds like it would work even better, but I'm no engineer.
  4. I thought it was okay to bring back sand, that it's just shells and coral that you're not allowed to bring back because of possible critters.
  5. Nice!! You are going to wonder why you never did this before. If y'all haven't already, go search for this cruise on FB and join the group there! Lots more activity than here!
  6. Even the Port has posted about it, so I think it will definitely happen. I saw the crane this morning as well. Glad I don't work weekends and won't be trying to get on the island!
  7. We will all be flying around in Jetsons-style cars someday and they'll still be down there working on the Gulf Fwy.
  8. Living 30 miles from Galveston, these speculations make me a very happy cruiser! Would love to see a ship like that be home-ported here!
  9. Interesting... Thank you for sharing your experience! Can I ask around what time you got to the lot?
  10. Maybe one of you who has parked in one of the North lots can help me out... In this picture is the North Premium lot everything from the obvious division on up, and below that is the regular North lot? I would think so, but then I'm confused because I thought the premium lot was all covered, and there are plenty of uncovered spots in that section. I hemmed and hawed too long over the cost of the premium (it's a lot!) and now it's sold out, but the regular North lot is still available. We don't care about covered parking, though, just distance -- and if those uncovered spots are just considered part of the regular North lot then I'll jump on that while I can.
  11. I can very much relate to that analogy.. I went to look at prices for 2024 when they dropped yesterday and while they weren't as bad as I feared they would be, it just amazed me (and makes me feel old!) to compare them to what I used to pay back in the early 2000's. With the old MKC discount I could often get a value resort for as little as $59/night and now those are close to $300/nt. Even the difference between now and the last time we went, in early 2020, is HUGE thanks to Disney deciding to charge for so many things that were included just 3 years ago. But like you said, people keep paying... Just like I probably will, because.. you know, the pull of The Mouse is strong!
  12. Great thread! Following this to take notes for my husband. Enjoying a cigar up on deck in the evening with the sea breeze blowing is one of his favorite things about cruising and something he very much looks forward to.
  13. Thank you both - I never realized there were different schedules for different length cruises!
  14. The first one is a 4-night and the second is a 5-night, if that matters -- I guess I should have put that!
  15. This is more out of sheer curiosity than anything... We have B2B cruises booked for October, leaving on 10/12 and 10/16. On my invoice it says the final payment date for the 10/12 sailing is due July 29th.. but the due date for the 10/16 sailing is July 18th. I'm glad I looked -- I was just going to pull up the earlier cruise and go by that due date! Is that normal? A typo? Just seems odd to me!
  16. Count me in on the bafflement with Voyager... If a fast-food place were to put in a freestyle machine, it would take all of an afternoon, tops. All they really have to do is plug it in and hook it up to a water line. Could be done on a turnaround day or in Liberty's case, could *easily* be done during a 3-day wet dock. So why the reticence on Royal's part to retrofit these last few ships that are without? I keep hanging onto hope that by some miracle they'll see fit to install them on Voyager between now and October, but I know that's not likely. I just for the life of me can't figure out why.
  17. "Hyperspace Greed Mode" is an apt description. My husband and I went to WDW for his first-ever trip in early 2020 right before the world went sideways. It was expensive enough then, but I knew enough tricks and hacks to not have to take out a second mortgage for the trip. Post restart, everything is so different and costs SO much more -- even relatively speaking - there is no way on earth we could afford to go back now. Not to mention just the sheer unnecessary stress and confusion of all the genie+ and lightning lane and park reservations crap.
  18. Very, very true... My worshipping at the alter of the mouse garners me nothing more than a big smile on my face and an empty bank account, lol. I miss the days of things such as the old Magic Kingdom Club!
  19. Once you drill down to the ship, it's at the top left:
  20. I've been following this thread, and am surprised that more people haven't agreed with you. I definitely agree! It's not about free crap, it's about feeling like your choice of where you spend your cruise dollars (or any dollars) counts to that company. As you have very well said, it's about the perception of being valued... and that really doesn't take a lot to accomplish. Priority lines, early access to boarding, shows, special reservations, maybe a special behind-the-scenes tour or something, all of that costs the cruise line nothing yet gives the perception of valuing their customer. It can go a long way.
  21. Have had several Promenade interiors on different Voyager-class ships, and will be there again in October. Love those rooms! We choose a room on deck 7 -- gives you a "buffer" floor between your room and whatever is going on down on the Promenade, but still close enough for people and parade watching. Have never had a problem with sound or light, but I do always bring clothespins to help hold the curtains all the way closed because we like it super dark.
  22. When in November are you going? Hopefully not the first weekend, but if it is then that would change a lot of the recommendations.
  23. Another sunburn story here... My husband and I got married in 2017 and embarked on our honeymoon cruise. First stop was Roatan, and I don't know if we were just exhausted and not thinking straight after all the wedding craziness or what, but my husband's spray sunscreen didn't "land" right on that windy day and I just didn't pay enough attention to my application period. We ended up with horrible, blistered sunburns and couldn't even bear to hug each other. It was the most chaste honeymoon in history, lol.
  24. That's a must from Texas!! I know Dr Pepper Zero is too much to ask for, but oh well - I'll bring that with me.
