CruiseLifeRick got a reaction from EddieTheCruiser in Current Cruise Director & Activities Manager List
    Hello All,

I wanted to see if we could commence a running Cruise Director and Activities Manager list here on the Royal Caribbean Blog Boards.   As many of you know, the Cruise Director can be very influential in providing a fun and interactive experience while on a cruise and for this reason the question is often asked "who will be the cruise director on my sailing?" However, as with any position of importance, the Cruise Director also enlists the assistance of his or her Activities Manager to host a number of events throughout a sailing (e.g. trivia, bingo, karaoke, etc...).  Therefore, I would also like to keep the list updated with the current Activities Managers whom many of us develop strong relationships with based on our varying degrees of participation in ship events.

While I know there are similar lists maintained elsewhere on the internet, my desire is to provide an easily accessed (thanks in part to the long-term edit function of these boards) and more user friendly document than what currently exists.  In addition to receiving regular updates from the fantastic blog community that fill these boards with Royal Caribbean knowledge everyday, I also hope to leverage Kat's evergrowing Periscope community to obtain real time and accurate updates as to who holds these very important positions throughout the Royal Caribbean fleet.   Below is my first stab at a draft of the list based on information I was able to retrieve from various social media and online content.  As you can see, there are some blanks, which I am sure many of you will be able to assist with filling in.  Please feel free to respond here with any list updates or any comments as to the format or layout of the document.

I would like to thank all of you in advance for any assistance you can provide with making this list a useful resource for Royal Caribbean cruisers.

    Julie,

As I indicated above, Boardwalk View balcony staterooms 14317-14325 on the port side and 14717-14725 on the starboard side are designated as obstructed views for the aft ocean view "obstruction."  You will still have great views of the Boardwalk and Aqua Theater.  In addition, Central Park view balcony staterooms 14217 and 14617 are also designated as obstructed views due to their proximity to the pool bridge on Deck 15.  There does not appear to be any ocean view balcony staterooms that are considered to have obstructed views.

I agree with others, where smuggling alcohol is just not worth it in terms of effort and inconvenience.

Moreover, if you can afford the cruise but the drinks are too expensive, then perhaps a cruise vacation is not for you.  If you are just being frugal/cheap, then drink in the ports you visit to save a lot of money.  There are plenty of ways to not pay $12 per drink, while still playing within the rules.

And regardless of how one justifies sneaking on booze, it's breaking the rules.  Plain and simple.

Also, the lack of sea days on the Empress really minimizes this concern.  If the poster is anything like me, nighttime motion can be blamed on many different elements. ;)

The Diamond Lounges on the Oasis Class are the best in the fleet in my opinion.  Enjoy!

Actually I was commenting on what I recently saw on a cruise compass on the site here. It listed every day's drink of the day at $9.50. Not speaking from first hand knowledge YET. 3 weeks from tomorrow !!! â›´â›±

After taking a few deep breaths, I just paid the first semester college tuition for our youngest daughter, and she moves in on Monday.   It could have been Gold to Diamond in a year (just kidding), but really, I can't think of a better use of the funds.  We're empty-nesters now, and I'm not sure the better half is really happy about that.  She's not sure what she'll do,... and that's why I booked a week on Oasis this Fall.  The plan is to inform her about the cruise next Tuesday.... ;)

I will have the UP next month, but I will definitely make it a point to ask about pricing for nonalcoholic cocktails.  If anything, I would have thought drink pricing on my summer cruise would have been more.  As it is, my UP for September is $5/day cheaper than it was for my June sailing.

That would be my thought as well.  No floater.  I just doubt they have gone up to $9.50 in the course of two months.

I think that was what the original post was implying by stating "a special cup...is not included."  Also, trips to the bar would still be necessary in order to avoid being charged repeatedly for these highly sought after souvenirs.

I agree, that the souvenir cups are not pushed heavily while on the ship, but I think the "buyer beware" comes into play on the private islands.  I have never seen Coco Locos or Labadoozies come around in anything other than an eye catching yellow or blue thermos. Now, if only Royal started selling them in branded YETI tumblers.

Eh...if your clients are local just tell them to grab a premo parking spot on the top deck of the port garage.  A beach chair from CVS, a six pack and presto...will feel just like the sun deck!    :D

Matt - The below is a snip from my Anthem June 16th Day 2 Cruise Compass.  Apparently, the various bars will have different drinks of the day so I presume that is why it is not published on the Anthem in the Compass.
