  1. I read that 20-30 people go overboard every year, industry wide. I don't see them installing nets ever. I could see them forcing the windows shut on the pool decks at night. I could also see them perhaps having employees walk by the pools decks more often at night, looking for over intoxicated people, but that's about it. There are systems they could install apparently that can help find people in the water that go overboard. I read Disney cruise ships have them, I don't know for sure. so sad. If it was the kid we talked to he was just about ready to start his life! I don't think RC would have served him. Had to be a relative or friend that did. He could have started drinking in the Dominican Republic and kept drinking until 4am, but even that seems unlikely. If the family ate in the main dining room they could just ask the waiter how he appeared at dinner. I'm sure they will sort it all out.
  2. I was on that cruise and think it may have been the person in the cabin next to me. When I woke up that morning that they had a lock on the cabin door next to me and someone was guarding the door all morning. i saw a person go in that cabin day 1. I thought it was a teen boy or could have been 20. I wasn't really looking at him cuz I was decorating my door when he came and used a key to get in. My daughter and I were telling him how I sometimes put my deco on other doors the last night to confuse people. He laughed. He was black, quiet and polite, not someone who seemed like a raging alcoholic like the press seems to be saying. It could have been the brother though. We never heard a noise out of that cabin, no partying, no arguing, no slamming doors. I looked over our balcony at theirs after I saw the lock, there was nothing but chairs there.
  3. I think it's a great idea. Even a simple site that people could give a star rating and review like trip advisor would be great.
  4. I wish you could sign a waiver the other way. My daughter is 11 and loves adventure ocean. When she turns 13 I'm pretty sure I'm going to rather she stay in AO. I don't want her in teen club or unsupervised, running around the boat with teen boys.
  5. You can mark it up as pdf and screen shot but it took me like an hour to do that example one on my phone.
  6. I wonder if they are just stopping it on the bigger boats as a test. We're on Wonder and they said at guest services you have to put in a request for the paper ones.
  7. They don't give you a paper compass every night anymore. You can put a special request in to your porter to bring you one nightly. They only print 50 extra a day for guest services so if you want to go get a paper copy do it early, they are gone by noon. I get they probably save money not printing 7000 a day (or whatever), but as a girl who shows up with her highlighter pens ready to plan every day I was upset. They want you to view the Compass on your phone by scanning a barcode, and use the planner on the Royal App to add things to "My Calendar". I tried liking this new system but at day 3 I requested the paper version. I think eventually it might be better but it's not there now. My Suggestions: 1. My Calendar in the Royal App A) Close up all the blank lines and empty space, so you can see all the items you have added that day on 1 screen, like it is in the compass. I don't want to scroll 5 screens to see my night. B) Let me add in key times for activities. 2. Digital Compass: A) Add a feature where you can check a box or select a line and it highlights it. I like to highlight what I want to do in the compass and then carry it, or photograph it so I have my schedule on one screen. If I could get all my selected items on 1 screen, I would be ok with going all digital. I want to see it this way.
  8. We're in Wonder now. We use these for power. None have surge suppressors. We have these in every plugs right now.
  9. We're on Wonder now and there is no limit but it has hours. You have to get your kid for lunch and dinner basically.
  10. We did Salsa and Salsa in Costa Maya, with our 7 year old. We all loved it.
  11. How do you find non-RC excursions? We're on a cruise Apr 2nd and all the excursions on St Thomas that involve boats and snorkeling have only 1 spot left and it's been that way for months. Nothing else even sounds that fun. We don't want to sit on a beach or in a bus all day. I've never booked a non -RC excursion but they have nothing available. Can anyone recommend a tour company on St Thomas?
  12. Roatan we did an excursion to monkey jungle, and an iguana farm. It also stopped for lunch at a place that had a 12 line zip line course from the top of a mountain. It was so amazing!!! Our daughter was 7 at the time. Costa Maya I think we did one with underwater caves. We loved both of them, so did our daughter.
  13. We're considering going on Ovation for a Holiday New Zealand cruise out of Sydney over New Years. Has anyone done that? Are there fun excursions for an 11 year old there. She loves anything like boats, zip lines, or anything with animals.
