  1. Just a heads up to everyone with something that happened with my "dining package". I purchased (for 2) my three night dining package for $70 per person on August 13, 2016. This month, November 2016, after reviewing my VISA account, I noticed two separate credits on my account. Each was for $70 for a total refund of my original purchase. I didn't have the reservations that I thought I had. I called RCCL today and they told me they had a "massive" (that is the word the RCCL rep said) cancellation of reservations. She told me she would be happy to renew and replace my original reservation but I would need to give her a credit card for the purchase. I gave her the number and magically, the NEW PRICE had been increased to $75 per person for a total of $150. I didn't mind the difference, but I feel they should have honored the original price we paid. I kept the original email with the confirmation but that appeared to make no difference. As soon as they run the new CC, I received a new confirmation email. Check your reservation today and make sure you have not also been cancelled. This is something you might not notice until arrival at the ship.
  2. I too was directed to pick my dining time...but not the restaurants. Geesh...I am on vacation and do not want to wear a watch so I know I have to appear at my appointed time to dine. This is my vacation not a regimented work schedule even tho I am retired!
  3. I want to disembark owing nothing....not come home to a bill in the mail. I will send them the check and thanks for the info.
  4. Since everyone has paid their cruise in full before departure, what would RCL do with a $300 check I mail them three weeks before departure....apply to my account or would they return the money to me? I would like to create my own credit to ease the pain upon disembarking!
  5. Always take my own slippers from home and pack in carry on. They are so handy to have if you are flying or riding via auto. The size thing sounds a little iffy to me...and knowing your own slippers already fit and are comfy, why chance it. Men's sizes sound like they would be small for me since I am a 13. BTW....the luxury bathrobes don't fit me either, thanks to the MDR and the buffet!
  6. I have always done this.....even at "land" restaurants. Love to see their reactions when I tell them they can't ask me any questions. Servers know what is selling...what is not selling. Friends have said they will bring you the most expensive thing on the menu....but that has never happened. They know if they bring good food and they will get a good tip.
  7. Who has time for prepacked cookies??...there is so much more fabulous food offered throughout the ship!
  8. I was confused the first time when we ordered drinks in the MDR but were posted as the Piano Bar next door.
  9. A change of menu is of little concern to me...since I always have my server and staff surprise me at every meal. They always know to bring out the BEST from the kitchen.
  10. You can get it off your chest here....but I have a feeling that there isn't a single person here that has any power to help you. YOU need to contact RCCL directly. THEY have the power to rectify your displeasure...if you are willing to cooperate with them. Learned a long time ago...the person yelling the loudest is most likely in the wrong. Good Luck with your endeavors.
  11. Ports are like airports....they have the same flights arrive and depart every hour. They know the "flow". Harbors expect the same amount of ships every day, every hour, every week. They know exactly how many passengers will be arriving and have made arrangements to accommodate exactly the number of passengers to make their visit comfortable and convenient. Some ships will arrive at 7am.....depart 2pm.....some will arrive 10 am depart 4pm.....some will arrive 4pm depart 8pm. And yes...they can have four or more ships in harbor but that doesn't mean they all arrive at the same time. They have been working out these schedules for years now and have it down to a science.
  12. Will this be posted for Freedom 01/07/17? Where is the the Guest Relations office?
  13. Best thing on the ship? The outstanding Staff, Culinary Team and Management. They will do anything to make your visit a pleasure.
  14. You can go to a Mayan Ruin just so many times. The Cozumel, Mahogany Bay Grand Cayman route is lost all its luster! I love to cruise and sometimes it is better to just stay aboard at some ports and enjoy all the amenities that are packed and overrun on sea days.
  15. Get your shots and take care of yourself first. The cruise lasts one week or so....but the flu season runs for months.
  16. Thanks Y'all....guess I am just a tish excited about the upcoming cruise!
  17. In the past, I have done on line registration with CCL and they allowed me to print my own luggage tags. After printing my SetSail docs...it says, ".....and any associated reservations in your SetSail Pass. THEY ARE NOT REAL LUGGAGE TAGS. Please use official luggage tags for your bags. If you have forgotten to bring your luggage tags with you, the image below can be used by the Porter to create luggage tags...... Are these something special that I need to wait until embarkation? Kind of confused my little mind....vbg.... since "I have forgotten"....I just don't have those luggage tags!
  18. You have the ability and responsibility to block charging on your minor children's sail cards. If they need to charge something....they know where you will be and you can assist them in their purchase. You don't need any surprises at the end of your vacation.
  19. I would only purchase artwork from a local dealer that you trust. Their reputation is at stake providing you local face to face recourse if the case should present. Just remember this....GOOD ART doesn't not have to match your sofa.
  20. Use US dollars. The exchange rate is not in their favor and they don't want pesos. El cambios are here and there but you don't need to bother.
  21. I don't believe they take cash anywhere on board....it's a cashless system with everything purchased on your sign and sail card.
  22. Yes they will open your bags without you being present. They will remove what they want and leave a list in your luggage what was confiscated and it will be signed by two witnesses. You will be able to retrieve your items at the end of the cruise.
  23. I would never ever book another "holiday" cruise. Prices are higher, they are filled with hubbub not found with school in session.
  24. Looks like an opportunity for an accident that could land you stranded aka jail on an island. Use public transportation since the hassle of finding, registering, and returning a vehicle will be cutting into your vacation tour time.
  25. I tip the room steward on our first meeting....and generally, $20. I don't tip bartenders since I rarely see them again and don't drink enough to establish a regular bartender. I know they are getting the mandatory assessed tip with every drink. That being said, I always go to the bank and get $50 in singles because you will always need them. Every room delivery will always get 2-3 bucks and the porter 5 per bag which doesn't include the bag I am carrying.
