  1. @FionaMG yes - the glacier was beautiful! Hoping that your holiday was as magical as ours was! As for the repositioning, we're currently half-tempted to do the Dubai-Singapore leg (as that's the itinerary that most interests us). Our youngest daughter isn't very happy though because she'll be doing her alevel mocks at the time of the cruise so she wouldn't be able to join us - this is ironic as she's the one who books our family holidays! Our son will be in his doctorate programme, and our other daughter will be in university, so it might just be my husband and I on the cruise, but we'll have to wait and see whether it's financially feasible before we confirm anything...
  2. I wonder whether there would be a 'discount' for booking all 3 legs, as currently they have to be booked seperatly. Had been waiting with bated breath for this itinerary to be released after our cruise on Anthem at the start of July because we had such an incredible time onboard - ironically we were sat right behind @FionaMGat the captain's corner when you asked about the repositioning! £4,702 in an inside cabin for 38 nights does seem like a lot of money for a repositioning, especially as the cruise isn't during peak season or at a feasible time for families or most employed people. The difference in price is crazy between this cruise and the TA cruises at the same time...
  3. Yes, it really does! We were excited before but now we're constantly watching itinerary videos of YouTube and looking at photos of the beautiful Fjords. Also thank you so much, his first operation is tommrow and his second one is scheduled for the start of June so we're all a bit anxious at the minute but he should () be feeling ready by the time that we travel
  4. It's taken us a while, but we've finally booked our excursions! Unfortunately, it now seems like my husband has to have 2 major operations in the weeks' prior to our cruise (7th July), so we've had to amend some of our plans to cater to his mobility issues. We had intended to hike to Briksdal Glacier (so we'd just pay for the bus segment), however we decided that it'd be better to get the troll cars instead. We went with Olden Adventures in the end, following many thoughts about booking the RCL itinerary, as it was a lot cheaper and the departure time was 10am so we wouldn't have to be rushing in the morning to leave for the excursion as early. We also wanted to hike one way up to Mt Fløyen in Bergen but, again, we've now booked the funicular both ways to ensure that he'll be able to manage the rest of the cruise. Worst case scenario, he'll just stay on the ship when we're in port (we've made no plans for Geiranger or Haugesund just yet as a contingency). Thank you all so much for your help
  5. Thank you so much for your feedback! We were prepared for the glacier to be 'shrunk' in the summer, but honestly it still looks incredible - we've never been to a glacier before so either way it'll still be a new experience and amazing to behold. We looked into the Loen skylift, but it seems very expensive for the sake of an hour (maximum) experience, hence the glacier still comes out on top. The teenagers are thankfully up for anything so getting them out of bed shouldn't be too much of a problem (our 18 y.o daughter is planning on being up at 8am most mornings to get to the gym early, to put it into perspective, and they're all hoping to make use of the '24 hour' aspect of the café and Sorrento's at 1am!!) The public bus does seem to be a very interesting option; if the timetable were to be akin to last year's then we could likely time it quite well to be back at the harbour for around the same time as we would be otherwise. However, at least if we get a tour bus, we'll probably have less of a chance of missing it (although that's probably my travel anxiety talking there)! That said, we won't rush to book the Olden Adventures bus and instead we'll wait until the public bus timetable has been finalised so that we can see whether its viable. Again, thank you so much for your help! Hope you and your daughter have an amazing cruise, too! (Ps. I just realised that I wrote 'next july' in my first post; I very much meant the 7th July 2023 sailing, but my brain obviously wasn't computing that we were in 2023 at the time of me writing my post )
  6. Hiya, we (2 adults, 3 teenagers) are heading on our first cruise next July onboard Anthem of the Seas to the Norwegain Fjords. We're really excited so we've been researching into excursions for our itinerary, and the one which really takes our fancy is the Briksdal Glacier excursion in Olden; we've watched lots of videos of the Anthem cruises that visited there last summer, and we know that it's a popular excursion choice, so we're hoping to book it ASAP to avoid disappointment. However, upon searching separately to find an identical excursion at a cheaper price (because the RCL price would be £400 for the 5 of us), we discovered that we could book it through Olden Adventures for £37 each; this would save us over £200 in total for what seems to be an identical experience (minus refreshments which are served in the café after the tour, but that isn't the be-all-or-end-all for us!). This leads me to my main question: is there any real benefit to spending double the price to get the RCL excursion, versus through a tour group in Norway? Has anyone used Olden Adventures - it's a long shot, I know - who can reccomend them, so that we know that it's a worthwhile saving? Or should we just spend the extra to get the reassurance that RCL will give us an incredible experience, with less fear that something major could go wrong, although at the double the cost? Equally, if we book through Olden Adventures, they have two daily tours (9:30 and 11:30). Our ship is scheduled to dock into Olden at 8:30am (I think), so would it be pushing it to choose the 9:30 tour so that we can explore Olden in the afternoon before the ship departs? Or would it be better to pick the later option in case the ship docks late and means that we miss the bus? Sorry if this is a lot of questions, but we want to get all of the technicalities out of the way in advance so that we can have a relaxing experience without worrying incessantly over the small details surrounding things like this!
  7. Oh wow I didn't even think of that! We have $500 onboard credit so I'll definitely be cautious if I try to request it. That said, we emailed our TA and they did say that the likelihood is that they can't change anything, so we're probably just going to stick with where we are; the cabin isn't bad at all and we're still very happy with it, so it's no real loss! Thank you all for your help
  8. Hiya, we've just checked out the deck plan and, with that, the cabins that available for our cruise, and we've found one cabin which we think would be really great to potentially swap to. It's in the same category too, even though it has less obstruction and is on a corner location so the balcony is larger. I was just wondering how swapping the cabins is done, and how easy it is? We've booked through an TA (iglu cruises), but we don't want to 'annoy' - I know, it might sound weird - our travel agent too much considering that we've only just booked the trip, and we don't want to ask too much of them this early. Could we contact RC directly and see whether they'd accept this change?
  9. Hiya guys, We booked our first ever cruise yesterday for a 7 night Norwegian Fjords cruise on Anthem of the Seas! We're travelling as a family of 5 (2 adults, 3 'children' - they're 21, 18 and 16) across two cabins. We booked balcony guarantee cabins and, strangely enough, they've already been allocated to us, even though we're not travelling for another 230ish days and we've only just paid our deposit. Suffice to say, we completely understandable the conditions and implications of booking guaranteed cabins. We've been allocated one obstructed view balcony cabin on deck 6 and one generic balcony cabin on deck 11. We don't mind that the cabins are separated by a few decks, as the children are old enough and capable enough to not need to be nearby, nor that one of them is an obstructed view, but our main query comes through the muster points that we've been given with our cabins. Our children's muster point is at La Patisserie, whilst my husband and I are at Jamie's Italian. Of course, I know that the likelihood of anything going wrong is low, but even so it's scary to think that, should something happen which causes us to need to gather there, we won't all be together. My main question, therefore, was whether RCL could reallocate our muster points so that we're at the same point. I'm not too sure how muster allocation works in the first place, and whether there's any reason as to why we're in different locations, but if it was possible then does anyone know whether we should contact our travel agent to arrange this or if we should talk to RCL directly? TIA :)
