  1. Specialty restaurant desserts seem far better than MDR desserts…
  2. I carry a few singles to tip for every drink. I generally tip specialty dining staff $20 or so. MDR is like $50 and $20 for assistant. I spend may be $250 max on 7 night cruise. In my estimation these people don’t make a lot. If I can afford a week long cruise, I can afford a buck a drink and one meals worth of tipping for a week of service. Everyone has their own opinion, and none are wrong.
  3. We’ve done this. We simply stopped by the MDR right after boarding and made the request. We tipped the person working the reservation desk…that never hurts
  4. Any weather app or weather website can be used, just change the location. For that far in advance just search Google for “seasonal” or something like “average temperature by month” and the location.
  5. As I’ve aged I definitely have grown more empathetic. Someone if slow walking, May be they have a physical problem, still frustrates me to be stuck behind them, but I TRY and remind myself I don’t know what they are dealing with. I guess the same could be said for a pier runner, May be it’s not their fault and May Betty already feel embarrassed and bad for the situation. …all that said, I remain pro heckle, because I doubt they can hear me from how high up I’m raining insults down onto them
  6. If the “activities” you’re interested include trivia, game shows, etc, any class can offer you multiple choices every day. I like smaller for vacations where I really need to relax. We LOVE trivia and similar activities, watching Karaoke, event Bingo. Look through the Cruise Planners for the smaller ships and I dare you to show me a day where you’d be bored, I double dog dare you! (Kidding, but seriously there’s always stuff to do.
  7. We started cruising in the early 90’s and will always love the classic cruise experience. As we get older we need fewer of the thrills and sometimes the smaller ships lend themselves better to relaxing. They can also have some of the more unique itineraries… variety is the spice of life
  8. Save the drama for your momma. If the post is “real” I feel bad for the OP because they are clearly in need of help. Not help resolving the issue on the cruise but real life help. If it’s not, and is like several posts that show up here every week or so that smell of trolling…you’re not going to impact this groups love for Royal or cruising. Your wasting your time.
  9. Cant wait to hear how it is! Would be very interested in purchasing one of those packages. Think the beer is cold?
  10. Friendly public service announcement: WRITING IN ALL CAPS ONLINE = Yelling.
  11. I am sure your confronted with challenges on a daily basis, and I’m sympathetic toward that reality. That said, change isn’t instant. The world is still trying to overcome racism, women's equality, access for handicapped people, and those movements started decades (or even centuries) ago. You’d think those who expect and demand acceptance and tolerance would be more tolerant of those who can’t change overnight. We have a child that is trans and they celebrate the wins and are hopeful and patient when they need to be. As it relates to cruising they’ve commented to us that they feel the crew has always been very respectful and made them feel comfortable while on the ships. It’s a big part of why we cruise (and specifically with Royal) as not all vacations have provided that experience for my family.
  12. I surf the cams all the time. My favs are Bermuda and Key West the water is incredible, it always looks like a place I’d rather be. Anyone else ever notice it’s almost always raining in Alaska? https://www.keywestharborwebcam.com https://www.portbermudawebcam.com ( I like seeing the ships on the overnights) https://www.juneauharborwebcam.com
  13. “I’m done with RC. “ Well no reason to hang out here then. The rest of us can go back to discussing and enjoying our Royal Caribbean vacations!
  14. Great first post. In the future a Travel Agent would save you from this issue. Maybe try calling off hours, like early in the morning or late at night. It may also be worth trying to connect with them through social media. I find being nice helps
  15. What a first post I work in customer service and have all my life. It’s always interesting to hear one side of a story and wonder what’s missing. So basically your saying that a cruise ship employee just completely lost their mind and was 100% wrong and they were completely unprovoked to have a reaction like they did. Ok. I have to ask the group, has anyone else see a ship staffer just lose their mind with nothing to prove them in any way shape or form? We’ve cruised a dozen or so times dating back to the 1990’s and have not. We’ve seem over reactions, and some questionable behavior, but never anything even close to this story. Sorry if this come across confrontational in anyway, it’s honestly not intentional if it does. It’s just wondering what might be missing.
  16. I think that’s good advice. It feels like pricing on packages won’t go down, and you can always cancel and re-buy if the price of a package drops. They may continue offering lower prices on cruises but once booked, they can make some money back on the add-ons. I don’t mean that to sound like a trick, it’s just the economic landscape is changing rapidly and the impact of the shut down and even the first full year back was bound to have profound effects on the industry. So many cruises are really cheap right now, maybe it’s supply and demand, but people have cash so once they book they are likely to spend and invest more into the vacation.
  17. It’s tough not to want to do everything, but the fact is you can’t do everything. That’s especially true if “relax” is on the must do list along with all the ship and the ports have to offer. I always feel like I’ll likely never be on the same ship twice so want to do everything as can while on board. It’s always felt like the days are scheduled around meals, even port days to an extent. Anyway, we’ve found that try not to Over schedule helps create a balance. Being willing to skip an activity when your getting tiered can help to, so aside from not over planning/scheduling being flexible might be the best advice I’d offer.
  18. The behind the scenes aspect is what interests us, we booked it $49 a person.
  19. I get why in some circumstances people might prefer to carry on, but when I am on vacation I don’t want to carry my luggage anywhere I don’t have to
  20. Does anyone know if this mean there’s no Canadian restrictions or protocols any more as well?
