  1. Ukulele: Did the Galvez have a 2 night minimum? I have been trying to make reservations online, but it says no available rooms. When I put in for 2 nights the rooms are amazingly available.
  2. I was checking hotel rates for a future cruise on the Liberty and keep running into road blocks. I was interested in staying in the Harbor House, Tremont House, Hotel Galvez, or San Luis Resort for a night pre-cruise. I prefer to stay in a nicer hotel and I am willing to pay for it, but the only way I can get the websites to give me a rate quote is to stay 2 nights. I cant find a 2 night policy listed on the website anywhere. I don't want to pay $900 when I really only want 1 night for $300-400. Steve, do you have any further knowledge of hotel policies or another suggestion similar to these hotels? Thanks
  3. All my wife and I need are Chops, Giovannis, and a Solarium pool. Our two boys, ages 15 and 8, need the bells and whistles of the bigger ships. Although my 8 year would be content to spend all day everyday in the water. My main goal is to enjoy, relax, and do nothing. Also we don't always take our kids with us for the relaxing.
  4. The school system I teach in had a 2 hour delay due to extreme windchill temps, so I thought what better time to look into booking another cruise. I came across a couple of cruises on the Rhapsody that interested me. What I am needing is some first hand opinions of the ship. Anything good, bad or otherwise would be very helping in my decision making. Our recent cruise have been on Oasis class ships, so thought this might be a good change up. Let me know your thoughts!
  5. For a la carte meals, it is my understanding that you get a credit allowance for your meal. If you go over that allowance then the rest will be added to your sea pass account.
  6. I just got an email from my TA pushing suites on some holiday cruises, but what caught my attention was the list of included perks for the suites. I am familiar with RC new suite classes and amenities, but the TA had "Complimentary Minibar stocked with Coca-Cola Beverages and Water" listed as an included perk. Does anyone else have experience with this? I have always assumed that a minibar is a pay as you use service no matter the type of stateroom.
  7. Online RC offers 3, 4, and 5 night specialty dining packages, but the description is left kind of vague. Are these packages open to all specialty locations and can you mix, match and repeat to total the number of dinners purchased? For example if someone purchased a 5 night could they have dinner in Chops all 5 times? Not that I would do this, but we do have some favorites that we would prefer to revisit rather than having to go to a different specialty dinner.
  8. I have been there before but have never reserved a cabana. The one I am really wanting is the one to the left side of the beach as you face the water. Its right on the waters edge, but still on the beach. I will be going on the Allure.
  9. Does anyone know why I cant rent a Cabana on Barefoot Beach on line? When I log in it will allow to rent a cabana on the other beaches but not on the Barefoot Beach. I know Barefoot Beach is for suite guests, but I am staying in a Crown Loft Suite. In my mind I should be able to reserve it now, but it says to reserve onboard. I am wanting a specific location and want to reserve early to get it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks!
  10. Back in March our group used Uber to get to and from the port. We had several people and luggage so we got a LUX SUV, which is suburban, expedition, denali, ect... The cost was around $50 for each trip, but if you can fit in something something smaller I am sure you could save some money. I also like uber because of the ease of payment, and all the uber vehicles I have been in were always cleaner than a taxi. Just my 2 cents worth.
  11. What is the name of the limo service you are using?
  12. My wife and I are contemplating a spur of the moment cruise on the Liberty, but I have some questions for any previous Galveston cruisers. We live in Indiana so we will be flying in. Is Houston our best/closest airport to the cruiseport? If so it looks like a an hour from cruiseport what type of transportation is the best means for getting there? Where do people stay for pre-cruise hotel?closer to Houston or Galveston? Thanks for your help!
  13. Ok, I need some help from the experienced cruisers. My plan is to surprise my wife with a B2B cruise, most likely an eastern and western caribbean on an Oasis class ship in a suite. My questions: How is a B2B booked, travel agent, RCI, or online 2 cruises? Is there any sort of discount for B2B cruises or do you pay regular for two cruises? Are they linked in one reservation or are they reserved under different reservation numbers?
  14. I was in a Crown Loft on starboard side(1754) and had beautiful views of Labadee. Actually there was a medical evacuation when we were there and I saw the medivac helicopter land on the section of the pier closest to land at Labadee. In Falmouth we could see all the local shopping area by the port. In Cozumel the Liberty was docked on the other side of the pier from us, most of the Cozumel view was blocked. From my balcony I had a birds eye view of the new water slides recently added to the Liberty. After seeing them I kind wished we could have gone over and tried them out!

  16. Your question was brought was brought up when I was on a behind the scenes tour of the Allure recently. Here is the answer to your question according to Captain Johnny on the Allure: The Allure will always pull up to the dock with the starboard side facing the dock. The reason for this is that the escalators used when in port are only located on the starboard side. So whenever the Allure comes into port she will spin 360 degrees and back into the dock with her starboard side against the pier.
  17. I sent an email to Uber support regarding Port Everglades and below was their response: Based on the current status of Uber in Port Everglades, they allow drop offs ONLY on the said port. This also means that any ride that you requestion going to Port Everglades should be able to pass the security gate with no problem. You must take note though, that pick ups from the port is still not allowed at this time.
  18. Trying to decide on next cruise, have been on Allure already and getting ready to go on it again in 12 days, but cant decide if we want to try the quantum class or stay with the oasis class. Does anyone have a preference either way?
  19. I don't know if we would live full time on a ship, but even at age 39 my wife and I have entertained the notion of selling our house in Indiana and retiring to a cruise port town in order to have easy access to ships in our retirement.
  20. We are spending the night in Fort Lauderdale the night before we board the Allure. Our hotel has a pay shuttle service to the port, but it is only at certain times. My other thought is to use Uber to get to the port. The other day I think Matt and Jerel mentioned they were at the port between 9 and 10 am. I want to get there as early as possible, but I do not want to be denied access to Port Everglades by gate security or not let in to the cruise terminal when we arrive. Can someone give me an early embarkation timeline that will work for us?
  21. We will be on the Allure in a couple of weeks and it will be our first time in a suite. From previous reading I was under the impression that the concierge would email us prior to the cruise. I haven't received any communication yet, should I be trying to contact them or wait and see? My main reason I am asking is we have some health requirements for members of our group. Thanks for your help!
