  1. Does anyone happen to know the number of seats around each Hibachi cooking table on Oasis? My recollection from last cruise was 8, but I seem to recall 10 from the time before that.
  2. We chose morning on our March Oasis sailing. For us, we would eventually be leaving the room every morning sometime between 8:00 and 10:30am, even if we slept in and were rolling out of bed for a late breakfast. However, our evenings were more variable, depending on the days events (excursion, pool day, specialty restaurant reservations, shows etc). We really appreciated being the flexibility of being able to be in the room during the early evening, whether it be for showering or napping.
  3. Thanks all for the thoughts. The vagueness of the sharp object and sports gear policies made me think twice, and I am glad that I did. I am going to do the browsing and shopping in advance of the cruise, and then go back and make the actual purchase on the way back to FLL after the cruise. Thanks again!
  4. This had me laughing likely way more than it should have! Well played. I have had the pleasure of watching a game at Wrigley, without the baggage of being a Cub fan. Truly a great experience.
  5. I have an odd question and was wondering if anyone knows the answer to via their own experience. Can I bring a pair of metal spike baseball cleats onboard? Not to wear of course, just packed in my bag. We are on Oasis next week and travelling from Canada down to Florida a few days in advance of departure. I would like to buy a new pair of cleats while I am there before I cruise (the selection is just WAY better down there compared to Canada). Cleats are not sharp like a weapon or anything like that, however I would prefer to not get flagged for bringing a prohibited item onboard. I have looked any can't find anything specific that would restrict them, but thought I would ask in the event that anyone knew Thanks.
  6. That's funny. I always hear Matt saying the "whinge a mer" . Loosely meaning (in an English /French combo) trivial griping at sea. I think most people have some trivial gripes about the Windjammer so it made sense to me!
  7. I had a similar question. For our upcoming cruise, I reserved My Time Dining at 6:45pm for each night of our 7 night cruise. I also have a 3 night dining package booked and plan on heading over to a specialty restaurant once on board to make those three dinner reservations. Would I be precluded, for example, from making a specialty restaurant reservation at 6:30pm because of the MTD reservation? If so, are the specialty restaurants simply able to cancel the MTD reservation for the particular day and slot in the specialty restaurant reservation?
  8. +1 to this advice. The 3 cuts lunch combo is delicious but very filling! Depending on who is eating and their appetite, there is likely enough food there for two people to share. Delicious and filling. Looking forward to being back on Oasis next month for another Portside BBQ lunch!
  9. Yes, that was our experience this past November. We were very impressed with how smooth/quick the suite check in experience was. That, along with Coastal Kitchen access for dinner on Oasis class, were our favourite Jr suite perks.
  10. Thank you! That was exactly it. I had not gone all the way to the MDR 5 listing. Much appreciated. Will help with planning our specialty restaurant days.
  11. Where in the app are you looking at? Can't seem to find anything for our Oasis sailing in March.
  12. We are on Oasis sailing March 12th. Same experience for us - only surf and stream. However, there are for example soda + surf combo packages available to purchase. I suspect those purchasers will get stream speed as well even though stream isn't specifically referred to.
  13. Hi, It is our family's first time booking connecting balcony cabins (1 adult and 1 child in each cabin on the booking). In the past when choosing our boarding time, I have logged into the app shortly after midnight and chosen the earliest time. I was wondering if anyone can advise how it works when you are choosing the boarding time with two separate reservation numbers. The reservations are linked and both showing in my app, however one reservation is in my wife's name. When I go to select my boarding time on day 45, will RC automatically apply the boarding time that I choose to the other linked reservation # of my wife? Or does she need to also log into the app at midnight on day 45 to choose the boarding time for her room as well?
  14. We had intended on doing the same thing for our kids just a couple of years younger than yours on an Oasis sailing this past November. We were in a junior suite. As described, the couch is similar in size to a full size bed (it felt slightly more narrow). It quickly became apparent that this wasn't going to work comfortably for two boys that age. Since we were in a junior suite, we had a enough room for a cot to brought into the room. That arrangement worked out just fine. On our upcoming cruise in March, we have opted for two connecting rooms. I would suggest that is the way to go if budget allows for it.
  15. I just looked at our Oasis March 23 sailing- same thing- no Voom surf option. However, the deluxe beverage package + Voom One device is there for purchase. I wonder if it has anything to do with upcoming Black Friday sale offers.
  16. Hello, We have our first RC cruise coming up for a week on Oasis of the Seas in November. We have a 3 night dining package and I understand the recommended approach is to book these reservations as soon as you get onboard. Is there a particular restaurant on Oasis that is recommended/best located for this once you get on board? Is doing this in person preferred over the app? We have a 10:30 arrival time at port. Thanks for the advice!
  17. Hi, We are going on our first Royal Caribbean cruise in November (have been on other lines previously) and wanting to confirm how our deluxe beverage (adults) and soda (kids) packages work in specialty dining restaurants. I am assuming that there is no need for the kids to lug their soda cups around to these restaurants and that they will simply be served their sodas in glasses at the table? Is that the same for all of the specialty restaurants, or is there a difference between those restaurants that require reservations vs those that are walk in (such as Portside BBQ, Johnny Rockets or Sorrentos)? Is that the same for Playmakers bar? Basically, I am just trying to get a sense of in which situations will the kids need their soda cups in order to have a drink with their meal or snack, and whether there any restaurants that you will want to be walking in with a drink or soda in hand.
  18. We were just in Maui this past April, but were staying in Kaanapali Beach not visiting on a cruise ship. The Maui cruise ship port is in Kahului, near the airport. That is located about a 45-55 min drive from Kaanapali. There are no real highways on Maui, so the time to get there is reflective of that. You also essentially have to drive around a mountain. I will say that the drive will most likely be worth it for you. The snorkelling on Maui is incredible, with most of it accessible from publicly accessible beaches. If you are headed to Kaanapali, we really enjoyed snorkelling near the point at Black Rock, accessed via the beach in front of the Sheraton. Lots of fish, turtles and healthy coral. Kaanapali also has a great beach in this area. If you really want to make it a full snorkel day, next head to Kapalua Bay (20 min drive further up the coast). Great snorkelling in a protected bay with beach. Again lots of fish, turtles and healthy coral (especially on the right side of the bay). Finally, head to Honolua Bay (10 min drive further up the coast). This is a hidden bay accessed through a short walk through a really neat forest with lots of old growth trees. This is a rock beach, but the snorkelling out in the bay is nothing short of spectacular. None of these places has lockers for storage while you snorkel. Your best best is to likely rent a car for the day and leave the important stuff locked away in there.
