  1. When I asked this question about my under 6 year old being assigned a pullman bed, the response I got was that an adult should sleep in the pullman and the child in the regular bed. Of course nobody is going to want to do that, but they won't change your room over it. We actually switched our booking for a future cruise over this (to a different room with a sofa bed instead of pullmans).
  2. When I took my 7 month old (about 4 years ago now), we were on Anthem and they gave us a pack and play (not a crib). We ended up bringing a pack and play cover for it. Also, we packed all of our disposable baby stuff into an empty cardboard box (we used a diaper box), so it was less to bring home. This was for diapers, wipes, baby snacks, disposable spoons, disposable bibs, disposable placemats, formula, etc... Tossed a luggage tag on the box and sent it to our room! It helped not having an extra suitcase to bring home at the end.
  3. Royal used to have much nicer towels - the old blue and white ones - those would get taken a lot more often as souvenirs by guests. I think that's why they police towels and and I know that's why they originally changed to the blue towels. Source: Had a family member that worked for RC back during this time and during the towel change.
  4. My kids will be so sad. They love the banana split!
  5. Looking for some advice on excursions for Bermuda in early May, please! We have a group of 10 people, including 3 kids (ages 13, 6 & 4), and the rest are adults ages 35-45. I was totally set on the catamaran and snorkel trip since it allows my kids ages (I'm finding it hard to find stuff for the 4 year old through RC) and the vast majority of our group has never done a catamaran (or any leisure boat) or snorkeling. However, I have been reading that the water temps might be chilly and limit our enjoyment of snorkeling in early May? FWIW, we are from the northeast, so we are used to the cold weather and will most likely end up in shorts because it will be warmer there than here still. So is the catamaran with snorkeling trip worth it and enjoyable? How is the water temps (would love to hear from other northeast people)? Alternatively, do you have any other recommendations for Bermuda in early May? I know we can just take a trip to horseshoe beach, but I don't think I want to spend all day there. It's a lot to keep kids entertained on the beach for an extended period of time without beach toys... and I don't really want to bring beach toys to carry around all day, haha. Not opposed to stopping there for 1-2 hours and adding something else though! Thanks for any advice! Appreciate you guys!
  6. Thinking ahead here. Right now we have a bungalow reserved for Labadee and there are only a few left. I know there are only 8 (I believe), so that's not a surprise to me, and I am fully expecting these to sell out long before sailing date. A few questions about how cancel and rebooking works on SOLD OUT excursions (when I already have a reservation). 1. If I notice a price drop and want to cancel and rebook for the lower rate, what happens if this is sold out? If I were to call and have them rebook for the price adjustment, would that be a safer way to not have someone snipe my reservation from under me while doing the cancel and rebook method? 2. If I cancel and then plan to instantly rebook, will the "inventory" be adjusted accordingly as soon as I cancel? Or does it go into a "holding period" before it's released to be purchased again? Basically we booked early to guarantee the spots, but the cruise is over a year out and I wanted to watch for future sales. Trying to figure out the plan for adjusting the possible price change without losing the reservation spot. Any tips to help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks bunches
  7. Next cruise is over a year out. I've noticed through other posts that the most current (or at least from a few weeks ago) cruise planner sales only affected ships sailing out through December 2023 (I think this is what I read at least). So my question I was wondering is, how far in advance do cruise planner sales typically affect a sailing? I know it can and will vary from case to case, and I assume they open large "chunks" of months at a time, but wondering around when we can typically start to expect to see the sales hitting our sailing. Thanks so much for any insight! EDIT: Since I think my original question wasn't clear - My current sailing is NOT getting any of the pre-cruise planner sales (yet). We have everything full price for the past month or so, while other cruises have been offered these pre-cruise planner sales. My question is "WHEN will we start to see ANY of the pre-cruise planner sales applying to our sail date?" Not asking when the best prices typically are offered, just how far out we will see ANY sales, since we currently see none (even while sales are active for other cruise sailings; the current offer only applies to sailings through Dec 2023). Thanks again.
  8. Since I don't think it has been answered yet - If you go to guest services, you can actually set spending limits on their cards. I don't know if you can set a per day limit or a "whole cruise" limit (I only ever had spending turned off for my [much younger] kids). Hope this helps and enjoy your cruise!
  9. Hey all. First thing I want to say is please no negative comments about the changes, as I am simply looking for real experiences thus far. In my recent catching up, I noticed posts / comments / videos about housekeeping being once per day now (which is totally fine). However, I was wondering if anyone that has sailed on a ship with this new policy in place knows how this effects guests in a cabin with 3+ guests. Since housekeeping will only be visiting once a day, are we going to have to have the couch pulled out all day (or have to put it away / pull it out ourselves)? Or do they still come a second time just to work on the beds? Hoping someone here has real experience and not just hearsay. Thanks so much! Sorry if this is a repeat question. I spent the last 2 hours trying to find the answer somewhere before posting here!
  10. Hey all! First time going to Labadee and we only have experience with Cococay. Let me start by saying I LOVE Cococay and it's my favorite port on most trips, so not going there was a hard decision! When we go to Cococay, I absolutely love the South Beach Beds. It's my favorite spot on the whole island. I love that there's not as many people, it's still walking distance to food / bathrooms, and I feel safe letting my kids play without needing to feel like I need to constantly watch them nearby. I also love being able to lay on the beds and relax. I've never had a cabana with a couch, and I am open to the idea, but I feel like the beds are superior in my mind (from my limited experience). So I come here asking you all - Are there any similar areas on Labadee that we should look into for a bed / bungalow / cabana? We are not suite guests, so Barefoot Beach is out. Kids are young but not toddlers, so I want them to have access to playing in the sand and shallow water that's close to where we will be sitting. We have a large-ish group of 10 people, so we would most likely want/need 2-3 of whatever we decide to do. Also, what are your thoughts on a bed vs bungalow/cabana (couch)? Thanks so much for any advice!
  11. His dad will have his card. We are a blended family (his dad is my ex) so we won't always be together for me to have access We are considering a lanyard but he literally loses his glasses that are supposed to stay on his face... so not sure how trusting I am, haha!
  12. My child (age 11) is staying in a different cabin with his father. We won't have him carry around his own seapass card (he's not the most responsible child, lol) and wondering if Royal would give me an extra copy of his card or room key so that I could access his room if needed? I've seen a lot of families use multiple cabins on here so wondering how this is handled. Thanks!
  13. I believe kids sail free is only offered through May 2023 right now (excluding holidays). So that's certainly why summer is excluded. Not sure exactly when you are looking.
  14. My mother in law got a GTY room for upcoming sailing. I noticed her room was assigned a few days ago (we sail Sept 11) and it was a deck below us and on the opposite side. I asked my travel agent and she was able to switch their room to our deck and closer, as long as it was the same stateroom category (J2, for example), without any additional fees. I would guess this might be possible for you guys once you both have assigned rooms, but that will depends on what is still available at the time.
  15. Sadly this is only a 6 night cruise (my shortest ever!) but it works best for everyone involved. We have like 10 people, so it was tough to plan around. I think we only get one formal night, is that correct? So really hoping it's not on day 2 because I would love to spend the day at cococay enjoying the beach and then do a late specialty dinner if the menu stays as currently listed.
  16. Thanks so much. I thought so but I have been doubting myself and wondering if the app could be wrong. I just don't want to have anyone miss formal night or anything special. Day 2 seems perfect timing for us!
  17. Hey all. We are on Allure for Sept 11 sailing and I have been trying to decide on a specialty restaurant. We will be with several first time cruisers, so we want to do MDR for dinner most nights so they get the "experience", but I have never done a specialty and would love to try one of them this time around. Anyways, I have been checking out the menu on the app for my sailing and wanted to know if it's pretty reliable to be correct while we are still a month out from our sailing? For example, day 2 is my least favorite menu offerings and we would love to try specialty that night (which is perfect since we have a birthday on board that night too!) if the menu will be what is currently listed for dinner on the app for that night. Much thanks for the insight!
  18. I was charged for my 5 year old, when the cruise planner says kids 0-5 should be free. Upon calling, they said this would be refunded in onboard credit and there was nothing they could do to work around it.
  19. ...you can get funnel cakes at cococay? oh please tell me more. so glad i saw this comment before we sail, so i can be sure to get some! love me some funnel cake!
  20. I am actually in the same position right now. My child turns 3 years old about a week after we board and my other child will be 5, so we are putting the older into AO. When I asked on the phone, they said that we could talk to the AO staff and leave it up to their discretion once on board the ship. They said it depends on the staff, number of kids on board the ship (and registered for AO), etc. Right now, I plan to register my almost 3 year old for the nursery center AND also ask AO if there is space, knowing it's possible they could deny the request. I am really hoping for the best though!
  21. Oh this is genius! I must have missed this being mentioned. Now off to see what room they got. Thanks a bunch!
  22. What is this barcode trick you mention? I have a family member is a GTY room and wondering if there is anything I should be doing for them? Haha, thanks.
  23. Thanks so much for the helpful replies. Looking forward to our trip. We got an early check-in time (I think) at 11am, so the plan was to head right up to the windjammer and setup the reservations while people are starting to grab food.
  24. As stated in the title, could someone please tell me how to book show reservations on the app? I am a major planner and want to be prepared. We are traveling with a large group and I am pretty much leading everyone (with many first time cruisers) with all the bits of information, making daily schedules, etc. I've looked up videos on how everything else works and have found everything I have needed thus far, but I am struggling to find this bit of information. Specifically I want to be sure that I am actually making a reservation for the shows and not just "adding to calendar", since I saw mentioned that there is a difference in those. If it makes any difference, we will be on Allure in September, so I am looking to book Mamma Mia, Aqua and Ice Shows (and trying to get the same show time slot for all of the rooms on our sailing). Sorry for the silly questions! Last time I cruised about 4+ years ago (then we had to wait for my youngest to be old enough to enjoy a cruise!), the app really did not work and it was miserable, so I am really excited to hear it's been greatly improved since then. Thanks so much in advance for the help and tips! Appreciate you all.
