SFaz got a reaction from Mike n Ky in Questions about Repricing a Cruise
I have a cruise booked for September which we booked in May. I saw the price had gone down about 3 weeks ago. I called Royal and told them I saw the price had gone down and had asked about a “reprice” They asked for my reservation number and looked up our room. They confirmed the price had gone down $200 and gave us a refund. (They told me since I had already paid in full it would be a refund in difference. Which for me was best anyway vs on board credit) I had originally made the mistake asking for “best price guarantee” and was told I don’t qualify before realizing I should say “reprice” Good luck!

We ended up doing ours thru the county for free. I was worried doing it this way initially because they say results would be in 1-3 days 😬 Thankfully we got our results early this morning and are now at the airport headed to Seattle to board the ship tomorrow 🤩Hopefully next cruise we take we will not need to test and be rid of one stress!

Wow, glad I caught this? I was scheduled for a test with Onpoint Wednesday 7:00 AM. I just got off an online chat with them.
She checked my appointment and advised that the "room" where my test was schedule has been closed due to a decline in their business. She advised me to reschedule. I asked why I was not advised of this AND what I am I to do if on Wed. AM I discover that the new "room" I have been scheduled in is closed. She replied that when I reschedule, make sure that they have me in room #56 or higher. This suggests that if you schedule a test with them, they COULD put you in a room that is not even working now.
I asked her a second time what I am to do if between now and Wed. AM they decide to close the new room (with a number higher than 56) I am scheduled in. I explained that if I do not have a negative test result by about noon Wednesday I would need to cancel flights to Seattle and the cruise. She said they would refund my money! I explained that I am not worried about the cost of the test but rather the fact that I miss out on my cruise AND have the costs associated with canceling my trip. Her reply was that I should probably go to another provider and get a refund from Onpoint.
So, I just rescheduled with Rapid Test & Trace. Had a short chat with them and the difference between them and Onpoint was night and day.
BTW, when I was on the chat with Onpoint I called a customer service no. she had given me and you can guess the results. Only option was to leave a message. That would not have helped much if I had called that number Wednesday AM needing their help NOW.
As a backup to RT&T, I will be booking tests with a local walk-in medical type office that charges $20 per test. Will cancel that appt. if RT&T goes well.

I had an appointment to use on point this morning for our COVID tests and they canceled and won’t be available until our sail date. Anyone know of another service like this we can schedule for today?

I can imagine. I had read of a few bad experiences with OnPoint, that's one of the reasons I went with RT&T.
I hope all goes smoothly so you can focus on having a great cruise!

Rapid test and trace is wonderful, we’ve had super experiences with them. I would think you could get a pretty quick appointment online ( and if you have some tests already at home like  many people do, you’re good to go).

Best of luck I agree totally too much stress. I had a similar case with tests getting cancelled last minute so started using EMED. We have one more test cycle for our Canada cruise next month. Oh and then you also have to do ArriveCAN, trying to help several family members through this process.

Wife and I took our tests this morning and it could not have gone more smoothly. Before scheduling, I asked via live chat if we could both get monitored at the same time by one proctor even though you have to schedule two separate appointments. I was told absolutely, just let the proctor know. We did and it went just as I was told.
Prior to the appointment, they sent numerous reminders via e-mail and text with a link to the Microsoft Teams meeting. You don't have to download Teams if you don't want to though, simply click on "open in browser" after clicking the provided link.
We used free iHealth rapid antigen tests provided by the government (from our stockpile) but they will let you use any FDA approved test.
Our proctor (a registered nurse) was very friendly and professional. She double checked all our information and made sure to ask if we had any questions throughout the process. She also stayed online while she sent the PDF results via e-mail and had us go over the info to ensure it was all correct before ending the session.
    Cost was $20 per person.
Just wanted to share my experience. I'm not trying to convince anyone to use this service. Everyone should use whatever testing method they feel comfortable with.

We've had things canceled AFTER we boarded (and not just those that happen because of an itinerary change necessitated by weather or a medical emergency).
It doesn't happen often, but it's not something new.

I wouldn't worry too much about booking via third party. You'll likely find that people on the excursion you choose are a mixture of Cruise Line Bookings and Third Party Bookings. Plus, these vendors are keenly aware that a high percentage of their patrons have a return time commitment, if that is a concern.
BONUS: You're very likely to get the same experience at a considerably lower price by going third party.
FYI: We just returned from Skagway and the views on the White Pass & Yukon Railroad are spectacular! Skagway Brewing Co. has a very good menu of Craft Beer, Cocktails, & Food, as well.

We booked third party excursions for all ports and I contacted them when I found out about the itinerary changes.
They refunded our IPS excursion and they are looking to see if the time for our Juneau excursion can be adjusted.

I saw that Princess had to adjust some of their sailings because of the dock issues. It looks like most of their Alaska sailings (21 of them) are still going to go there but they had to change 10 sailings.

Has anyone here used the Port of Seattle’s “Port Valet” service? They take your bags from the ship and bring them to the airport so you can enjoy Seattle before your flight without worrying about bags. Just curious how the experience was. We have a 5pm flight out the day the cruise ends.

The service was great. We put our checked bags outside the stateroom on the last night and didn't touch them again until baggage claim at our final destination.

An extra feature advertised with this service is that you don't get charged for an overweight bag. Loved it in June and July on Ovation even though weight wasn't an issue for me for these 7-night runs 😇

I used it this summer and it worked out great (for a 6pm flight).  If you're flying out of Seattle, there's absolutely no reason not to use the service for checked bags.
They deliver the airline bag tags and tickets on the last night and your bags just need to be out before a certain time.  It's identical to a normal ship departure but just with different tags on the bags and you won't see your bags again until your end destination airport.  You'll see any checked bag fees after the cruise on your final emailed invoice (not while still on the ship or in the app).
Also double check each printout because one of our tags was only halfway printed so I had to go to guest services to get it reprinted.
