Any pillow thicker and fluffier than a sheet of paper (wife's words) aggravates an old neck injury. I always travel with my own pillow. Fortunately being so flat it takes up very little room in a suitcase.

I tried traveling with my pillow once.  Then I had left it behind in a hotel.  Did not realized it until that night.  Pillow gone.

Right, unless they put in Sleep Number mattresses in the cabins, they'll never be able to please everyone, unfortunately.

I absolutely HATE Sleep Number. I suffer on one for almost 20 years because my husband loved it.  I even tried a mattress topper, which helped but I was still not sleeping. I finally said it is my turn to pick out a mattress.  I have been sleeping like a baby ever since.  I guess that just means that there is not a single mattress out there that will satisfy everyone.

  3. I picked Go-Karts but I love the ideas of mystery dinner and more escape rooms.  I had hosted several mystery dinners in the past where my friends would come dressed up.  I did a Star Trek dinner once where I pretended my replicator (aka oven) screwed up and delivered 3 legged chickens (1 cornish hen with a drum stick stuck in its cavity).  I had also used 2 different food colors: Red for the hen and blue for the chicken leg.  It was a riot!  Unfortunately, it was the worst story of all the mystery dinners I had hosted.

True story -  we were at Disney with our DGS.  Hubby had 2 shirts, blue & grey and green & brown and 2 pair of shorts, grey & green left to wear.  Wanna guess what he put together?  When we travel with the grands I put full matched outfits in plastic bags.  Every morning, they get up, grab a bag & get dressed.  Since that trip, I do that for hubby too

I used that same trick when I took Girl Scout camping.  Not only do they have a complete set of clothes but the zip lok bags kept their clothes dry if it rain.

I just got off of Western Caribbean cruise with male looking person that wore Girls' cloths and was 6' 4".    No one seemed to notice them even at the pool.  Everyone is busy doing their thing.

@Traveling Mike - are you calling yourself a "no one"?   😆

that being said be aware that staff may not call them by proper pronouns ( if that may bother them). My sister is married to my fantastic sister in law and dresses more masculine. She was constantly called “ SIR” and was even asked to cover up in the dining room when she had a tank top on and I was wearing a far more revealing outfit. Seems men and women have different clothing rules and quickly gave her the male rules. She took it in stride but I know it started to get old quickly. I lost count how many times I said “ not sir!”

@Marlena - this is funny because my husband (male) will sometimes call me 'sir' just to be funny.  So I just call him 'lady' to get back at him.  LOL!  There was one time I was called a 'sir' - it was from a police officer, walking up to my car after pulling me over for speeding.  As soon as he said 'sir', I knew that I was not getting a ticket.  There is no way someone should have mistaken me for a male - even if seated. So, call me 'sir'.  Just don't call me late for dinner.  🙂

  6. Definitely following.  Great start. I have not been to Wonderland so I am interested in your report about the restaurant. I totally get driving 16 hours instead of flying.  Driving can be an adventure in itself.

Warning about Costa Maya - it is called Costa Maybe for a reason.  Last year, the cruise I was on had to abort that port. I just read that someone else's cruise had to abort.  I believe in my case, it was due to the unrest in the area.  For the other person, it was due to rough seas.  But with or without Costa Maya, you will have a fantastic time.

Wow didn't know this. I only use Tylenol because I had a bad reaction from Advil.

Back about 15 years ago, I had a bad reaction to naproxen (aka Aleve).  It was a possible allergic reaction.  I had to stay away from all NSAIDs for a year.  But I finally went back to Advil.  Fortunately for me, no bad reaction.

Funny thing, my father had issues with Advil but could tolerate Aleve.

How many more days before @asquared17 trip?  I am getting excited for you!

  8. I too had to switch to a soft and small head toothbrush.  Boy, those can be hard to find sometimes.

My doctor recommended that I stop using Advil and like products (NSAIDs) because there have been issues found with Advil and post menopausal women.  (increase of stroke, heart attack, and death).  But sometimes Tylenol just does not cut thru the pain.

    Love the liquid IV.

  9. My first thought about the pictures of the toiletries - was WOW!  That is so much NOT like me.

My second thought about the toiletries - WOW - what great labels! Again - so much NOT like me.

Love this post and how we got side tracked.  My toiletries: 1 shampoo, 1 cream rinse, 1 liquid body soap, 1 face product, 1 styling gel.  I do go crazy with my mouth care: 2 types of tooth paste, fluoride rinse, 2 toothbrushes, 2 types of floss, and a mouth guard.

And let us not get started on the OTC drugs.....

gosh i wish i was better at math. it's not my strength, guys. i'm better with people/language/reading/writing.

Don't look at me for help.  I am a math type of person.  My sister always tells me that it is a challenge for her to read my writings - trying to figure out what I mean.  Now give me a nice math or logic problem any day of the week.

PPS. Do you have Amazon Prime? You can get a free Kindle book every month (from a list of about 10 newly-released options) so I dutifully choose a title every month and have amassed QUITE the stockpile! I like physical books but it’s very handy to just have them ready to go in the Kindle app for when I’m somewhere without a book.

I did not know this.  Another reason to move over to Kindle.  My husband has prime.  I will need to ask him about this tonight.

Everyone’s immune system is different.  Neither of my kids have had covid but they never caught any childhood diseases either.  I’m glad your decision was right for you and am so glad you are on the high seas again!

Ditto with my family.  I can count at least 4 different families where this has happened with.  One family member would come down with COVID while their spouse does not - even without taking precautions. I think it is weird how it can be a hit/miss.

i’m about ready to embark on a packing list swap with you both tbh

maybe there are gaps i am overlooking 😂

Let's see if I can remember to pull mine out once I get home.  If I can remember (about to fly to AZ to visit my son and his family), I will send you a meesage with the list. But I agree, it is always good to see other's list to see if I can add anything to my list.

  14. For our 40th anniversary, my husband and I wanted to tour Italy.  Due to the price and timing, we had to restrict ourselves to the Umbria and Tuscany area.  Some how I was able to slip a cruise between Barcelona and Rome under his nose.  What he does not know, won't hurt him.  Or at least until the bills start to arrive.  🙂  Ciao!
