  1. We will be on the April 14 sailing of the Harmony out of Galveston, Texas with our 91 year old cousin. This will be her first cruise and while she is very mobil and active I'm looking for excursions which she will enjoy but not over do physically. In looking at what is offered the aforementioned excursion seems like it might work. I was looking for comments from those who have been on this excursion. Thank You; Bill
  2. You didn't receive the product or services which you were promised and paid for thus creating a fraud. I think fraud applies in this case as the vendor was notified of the violation of the contract and took no action to correct the deficiency. I would file a compliant with RCCL, BBB and challenge the charge with my credit card provider. My guess is the company is depending that most people will simply walk away and not challenge the situation. This emboldens the company to continue these types of practices. Bill
  3. Das, has earned a visit from me when we visit in August. Thank you for the great comments.
  4. We are cruising in April on the Harmony out of Galveston. We will taking our 91 year old cousin who is very spry and young for her age on her first cruise. Kathy and I always cruise in a GS so boarding/disembarkation, shows and tendering has never been a problem. We booked this cruise late and ended up with four balconies for the family. I've never had a reason to consider The Key as we are Diamond Plus and stay in a suite. However with our older passenger I'm consider The Key. This would provide easier starting and ending the cruise with some nice perks. When I consider the Voom, 20% off Speciality restaurants if booked the first day, lunch in the dinning room the first day and breakfast on the last day I'm thinking the cost maybe worth it. We would really like for our cousin to enjoy her first and maybe her only cruise. I would appreciate your thoughts and comments, pro or con all will be appreciate. Bill
  5. I think probably every cruiser has a favorite ship. Long before the floating amusement park ships of today cruise ships looked much differently. They also looked more like traditional ships with long bows and very few or no balconies. One of my favorite ships was the Song of America. This was a great ship which left the RCCL fleet way to soon. To get to the Viking Crown Lounge you had to cross the deck and go up an escalator. Here is a photo of my favorite ship, what was your favorite ship? Bill
  6. I know this will be a strange question but here it goes; When we cruise we always fly in a day or two ahead of the cruise. We always use Uber from the airport to the hotel and to the ship. We always purchase Vroom for one device and then we share it. We both use our iPhones on the internet for our mail and to check RCB, etc. Here comes the question, when we get back to port and leave the ship I bring up the Uber app on my iPhone to get a ride to the airport. Problem is my Uber app never works, it comes up like normal but when I put in where we're going the Uber app never shows a driver answering our inquiry. I've tried deleting the app and reinstalling but no help. Last cruise I got my wife's phone which had never had Uber installed on it, so I installed Uber, put in our destination pressed enter and instantly an Uber driver accepted our request and picked up within two or three minutes. When we get home I bring up the Uber app to get a rid from the airport to home and it works flawlessly. Has anyone had a similar situation or an answer to my problem? Bill
  7. I know this isn't exactly the answer you're looking for however, I've been to Martinique and have no intention of ever going back. I found the inhabitants to be hateful toward anyone who was different than themselves. I've been on 71 cruises and in many islands and countries, I would rate Martinique as the absolute worst. Bill
  8. I agree with the original poster that cruise prices have gotten very high when compared to just last year. RCCL's price point is about as high as it can go. However supply and demand economics is working well for RCCL their cruise fares seem high but their ships are sailing full so why would they want to drop the prices? I have started comparing cruise fare prices with other lines for the first time in 30 years. The prices for any of the new ships like Wonder or Icon are almost equal to Viking and in some cases Silver Seas. I don't want to leave RCCL but they may leave me. Bill
  9. I just checked two of our future cruises. Our April, 24 our of Galveston on the Harmony has the "For You" button. However our Sept, 24 cruise on the Freedom does not have the "For You" button. Bill
  10. We were on the Grandeur last month and had a great cruise. Hope you have a great time. Fred the headwaiter is the best. Bill
  11. The time shown in the upper left hand corner of the app is always the true ship's time. Bill
  12. Delete the link you're using and enter a new link, should fix the problem it worked for me. Bill
  13. We were on the Adventure OTS August 19-26, 2023 and it took three weeks for our points to so up. Good luck with your points. Bill
  14. I deleted and reinstalled the app and the cruises button appeared along with the C&S status thingy. Bill
  15. Eleven years ago my wife was diagnosed with breast cancer two weeks before our cruise. Her oncologist wanted her to start treat as soon as possible. We booked our cruise and travel insurance through our trusted Cruise Agent as always. We faxed a copy of the diagnosis and treatment plan from the doctor and our Cruise Agent took care of everything else. In about three weeks we received a check for the cruise from the travel insurance company. I wish you the very best with both the insurance and you treatments. Bill
  16. I was wondering if Vintages on the Harmony along with wine do they serve tapas? Bill
  17. We will be going out of Galveston on the Harmony and looking for information about parking at the cruise port. We will be traveling with a 92 year old and do have a handicap parking placard. Any comments will be appreciated. Bill
  18. Good for you! I've stayed in the Crown Loft Suites twice and loved them. I hope your many years of travel have been as enjoyable as mine.
  19. I started cruising with RCCL on board the Song of Norway which was a great little ship. I've now been on 71 cruises and enjoyed all of them. When my first wife (who I lost to breast cancer) first starting cruising in 1976 we could only afford an inside cabin on a deck with oars! Image our glee when we got to the ship only to find we had been upgraded free of charge to a cabin with a porthole . Wow we thought we were in tall cotton, just two young kids enjoying a cruise and being able to see the ocean from our cabin. We then knew we'd never again sail without porthole. Imagine our glee when we got to the ship and discovered we'd been upgraded free of charge to a cabin with a veranda! Well you can guess we always booked veranda cabins after that. Then we got upgraded to a Grand Suite! You can guess our last 30 cruises have been on Grand Suites. I find it kind of sad that current and future cruisers won't know the joy of being upgraded as better cabins today are sold to the highest bidder. I think RCCL made more money giving out free upgrades knowing cruisers were apt to upgrade to the more costly cabins. There is something to be said for the "way it was." Bill
  20. I did consider myself an experienced RCCL cruiser. However this just goes to show you can teach an old dog new tricks, thank you for the lesson. Bill
  21. For the benefit of an ignorant old sailor could someone explain the "Bar Code Hack/trick." Please. Bill
  22. Thank you for your first hand account. Radiance is one of my favorite ships. The one thing I'll never understand is why cruise lines aren't more forth coming when the ship has problems. As a passenger I understand a ship is a compilation of many parts and operating systems that can fail or falter from time to time. I would appreciate just being told openly and honestly in a timely fashion when there is a problem with the ship, arrival times or embarkation delays. Why the secrecy, I'd rather hear from the Captain about problems than the guy with a drink package in the lounge. Bill
  23. We've just booked the Harmony out of Galveston for April 14th, 2024 on a Western Caribbean Cruse. We will have four cabins for a family cruise including our 92 year old cousin on her first cruise! Hope to see others signing up so we can possibly have a meet up. Bill
