The "Yes, I know" comment was supposed to indicate that I knew it's not called MGM. Guess that failed to come through. I do still call it MGM though, and it will always be MGM to me. The world will always be flat. We will always be at the center of the universe. Matt is a seafaring demigod. And DocLC = Doctor Love Connection. That's just the way things are.
 
Believe me, I'm fully aware of the "massive reimagination," as I have to deal with the aggravating traffic and ever-changing shananigans five days a week! The sheep....uh....I mean...the people....wander about lost, trying to find their way, bumping into everything and everyone, as I'm rushing by them in my attempt to be on time. The tourist drivers wreak havoc on the roads, cutting me off, driving 3 miles an hours, and sometimes even driving against traffic! Idiots abound! And then there's all the construction! One day I can park here, the next day I can't. One day this walkway is open, the next it's not. And on and on.... I cannot wait for this shit to be done! (See what you've done!? You've brought my rage on to the page! I try never to talk about work at home. Work stays at work. Doc, you owe me a beer! ;))

Hello, my name is Kevin and my wife is Renee, we live in Southern California and will be taking our first Royal Caribbean cruise this coming April. We will be be on the repositioning cruise from Tampa to Barcelona along without cousins from Minn. looking to connect with any other cruisers who will be on this trip.

As a final conclusion to this thread, I did want to say that we loved the Freedom class and really enjoyed our cruise aboard the Liberty. My fears about the onboard experience being disrupted by the looming refurb were unfounded. The only real impact was the cabin move, which for most people would have been a welcomed $1,000 upgrade. I left the ship happy having our dinner at Chops comped for our troubles, plus Royal did extend some onboard credit for the move. Thus, my TA and the Loyalty Ambassador helped to mitigate a situation that could have easily left a bad taste in my mouth.

You actually CAN streak in the Centrum, but you can only do it once and won't likely be allowed on another Royal Caribbean cruise, but you COULD do it.

Doc's exactly correct! Every evening on Freedom, I'd stop at R Bar, grab a drink, take it back to the room, and sip on it while showering and getting ready for dinner. You're on a Royal Caribbean cruise! You're ROYALTY!!! You can do almost anything you'd like to do (except for streaking in the Centrum!).

Cool. You'll fit right in with the rest of us.

I believe that sometimes you can't know what you've got until you're experience the alternatives. Fortunately, I did get a good fare for booking early and Royal did extend some onboard credit for the room snafu. However, this is the first Royal cruise where my wife and I started comparing Royal to its competitors and considering alternatives, which is sad.
 
Overall, it was a good cruise and most importantly my son didn't want to leave, which means he had a good time.

True, but I forgot to mention that I usually prepay for that as well.

I'm a naked device person, so flaunting it around my home town or making my patients stare at it while getting adjusted sounds better

The only reason I can give for buying it ahead of time is that you can begin boozing IMMEDIATELY!!!! ;) :D B) The line we saw on Freedom was ridiculous! The Queen was particularly happy to not have to wait on it. Also, like Matty always says, it's nice to have things paid off over time. Of course, since I'm not a shopper, not a gambler, and I prepay for my excursions, I have no idea how I'll use my OBC.

There are coverage DCs! YOLO BOOK IT!!!! :P
