  1. Agreed, saw Aqua 80 on the June 10 sailing and liked it so much we went back and watched it 4 times! We are back on Oasis this weekend, can’t wait - the cast/show is phenomenal!!
  2. We had friends on the May 1st Oasis sailing (this was our original sailing date too but we had to postpone to June) and can confirm that Cats was cancelled due to some of the cast being ill and as someone already mentioned, the Aqua80 cast was new to Oasis and was unfortunately not ready to perform that week - but from what I heard they still impressed with their rehearsals!! Fast forward to our cruise in June, we had an absolutely phenomenal experience on Oasis - no complaints (except the hallway carpets could maybe need replacing) staff amazing, super hard working and never felt overcrowded even though I’m pretty sure we were close to max capacity. I agree, don’t write off Royal based on this anomaly week … we’ve already booked Oasis for next month and July of next year!
  3. I was on Odyssey this past March and they did not offer roller skating in the Seaplex. This may be a pre-Covid thing because I heard they did offer this on Anthem in the past. When not being used for bumper cars, the Seaplex was used for: basketball, volleyball, pickle ball, ping pong and corn hole throw. We also had a lot of teens on our sailing so sometimes it was closed at night for the teens to have their silent dance party.
  4. Yes indoors, the Seaplex doubles as the bumper car arena as well!
  5. I brought my teens with me to the gym on Odyssey. The 17 year old was old enough to go by herself but the 15 year old needed a special wrist band we got from the spa and an adult had to go with him to the gym to supervise
  6. As most know the chat feature used to be free, on our March cruise we had everyone download the app only to find out they now charge $1.99 per person per day for the Royal chat feature. What we did find was that iMessage on our iPhones seemed to work for free when connected to the ship’s free wifi - we were able to communicate with folks back home. It also worked on our Disney cruise … but I’m thinking they may catch on and disable this feature at any time - so maybe not reliable!
  7. Our Diamond status friends got drinks for us and our kids almost every day and it was never an issue and not a secret - won’t be a problem at all!
  8. Just curious - where did you find this info, is there a website that posts cancelled shows? I am sailing Oasis next month
  9. My family had a great experience on the Grandeur! We were on a 10 day that had to change the itinerary last minute due to weather and we stopped at Key West and Miami. We made the most of it and had a wonderful time. Being a smaller and older ship, it didn’t have the bells and whistles we have seen on Harmony, Odyssey, Allure etc but the staff were all super friendly, ship always clean and the fewer passengers meant the cruise was more personable and we met a lot of people! Enjoy, you won’t be disappointed!
  10. We actually carried everything on to the ship ourselves, left it by the pool while we headed to lunch and waited for our room to be ready - but yes in the past we have checked in our car seats and they took it as long as you tag it like a piece of luggage (but this was pre-Covid) does anyone know if this has changed or have had a different experience?
  11. It depends on his/her service of course and how many people are in your stateroom but for our last “3 day” cruise we tipped an additional $50 since there were 4 of us in the room and we felt our attendant was very good - maybe others have a different opinion as this being too much or too little?
  12. I agree it’s a pain but I took our own car seat when we went on a cruise last week and gate checked the car seat before I got on the plane, at least you know you are using a clean, safe and non-expired car seat !
  13. Agreed, many of us tip our room steward, restaurant serving team etc with additional cash at the end, in addition to the prepaid gratuities on our account. Last time I tipped the guy that served icecream to our kids and he was super happy! I agree, start collecting those ones and fives!
  14. Wow I agree, that is early! On Odyssey I think a couple of pools closed at 11 (or at least 10?) and there was at least one hot tub that was posted as 24 hrs … I was surprised at this myself! One thing I was disappointed with was how early the gym closed (9pm) … after dinner we usually caught the 8pm show and then following this would typically like to go to the gym, but sadly it was not open
  15. I can only answer a couple: 2) yes, if your cruise leaves Friday you can have your rapid antigen test on Wednesday 3) show reservations are made as soon as you board the ship and connect to the ship’s wifi Have fun! So lucky to be sailing Wonder … let us know how it goes and what you think of the ship!!
  16. I originally posted that I’m pretty sure Oasis goes south but you are in fact correct there’s a shorter 5 day to Canada … I’m from Canada, June can get quite hot like last year … not Caribbean or Florida hot but definitely t-shirts and shorts weather. But evenings can be cool so definitely long sleeves needed too!
  17. We used them for my family of 6 last month at $40/each, the paper work is very detailed and it will be accepted / that said, it’s way cheaper at Costco and other pharmacies and more and more people we know have used these without any issues to cruise so we may consider using a cheaper pharmacy for our next cruise in June. One thing about Shoppers is you can book it several weeks in advance online - other pharmacies like Walmart etc said to check back two weeks prior to trip. Since our last cruise was March Break we did not want to take any chances and not be able to find an appointment so we just went with Shoppers despite the higher cost
  18. Last month on Odyssey (March break) it was usually offered first thing in the morning like 8am and then again in the evenings sometimes during open play time at the Seaplex. We had a busy sailing so sometimes a group would show up to play and not take turns - kept playing even though people standing on side waiting, I asked and was told by one of the Royal workers it was free for all honour system, and he was there to just supervise but was not responsible for organizing who got to play and for how long etc
  19. We were on Odyssey over March Break which is similar in size to Anthem. We also had a very windy day, but we were still able to dock without incident. We spent the day at Chill beach which is really close to the ship as we found this a bit sheltered and not so windy, so it was a fun and enjoyable day!
  20. Just got off Odyssey March 12 sailing. Reservations were only required for “The Book” and “Effectors” (superhero show)
  21. My family of 6 all used Shoppers, yes it’s more pricey than Rexall, Costco etc. but like someone mentioned - all it takes is one person to be on a power trip and turn you away. The Shoppers travel paper is all typed and very detailed with official sticker etc … it honestly looks way more legit and professional than the others (and I did my research) … not to say others won’t be accepted (I know they were last week). But personally, it was not a chance I was willing to take!!
  22. Thank you for sharing your story, I’m sure it will help a lot of families make their decision . So sorry it didn’t work out for your family but smart move on the insurance and being able to recover most of the cost! Wishing your granddaughter a speedy recovery, sending positive vibes from across the ocean from Canada!
  23. Agreed, we booked Shoppers at $40/each … as a family of 6 it sure adds up fast! But all good, don’t want to take any chances! It’s interesting I’m still yet to meet or hear from any Canadian that has used anything but the Shoppers Drug Mart rapid test to board their Royal cruise!
  24. Fellow Canadians, I’m curious if anyone has used anything other than Shoppers Drug Mart - such as Costco, Rexall, No Frills, Walmart or any other place to get their proctored rapid antigen test to fly into US and board Royal cruise … Shoppers is the most expensive at $40 but I know has the proper travel papers. Wondering if anyone has successfully used another place like Costco (half the price) and had no issues with their rapid test and travel papers
  25. Our stories are very similar. I also have a family of 6 and booked 2 connecting cabins on an upcoming cruise. A couple of months ago, our travel agent informed us our rooms were changed due to Covid protocols and our new rooms were assigned far apart and on different decks. He contacted Royal and was able to get us two rooms with balconies, not connecting but apparently the balcony has a door that can be unlocked so you can travel back and forth between cabins via the outside balcony - at no extra charge. I would contact Royal to see if at very least, they could offer you the amount you paid for this upgrade as onboard credit. Good luck!
