  1. HI! I'm sailing on the same cruise with my son(16) and sister (they're first time cruisers). This is actually almost the exact sailing I did 2 years ago, the same week, just before COVID shut the world down. THAT was my first cruise...and I went solo! It was an 8 night sailing from Cape Liberty down to Port Canaveral and Nassau and Perfect Day At Cococay. And it was absolutely MARVELOUS!!! I'm an introvert and I enjoy solo getaways so I was fine with that part. The shocker was that I enjoyed it so much being that it was my first cruise and I am a self-proclaimed aquaphobe. LOL. I can't float. I can't swim. I'm terrified of water. I can get in the water, as long as it doesn't go past my chin with my feet planted firmly on the bottom, LOL. I'm a lost cause, trust me. Siblings and I took swim lessons growing up - I flunked terribly. I don't even like being splashed. My dad has a bunch of swim trophies from high school...My mom is a decent swimmer. BUT this girl got on that ship and never looked back. Best 8 days I've ever spent by myself. Anywho, it's a great sailing. A bit chilly the first couple of days but I'll take chilly on a beautiful cruise ship over these dirty mounds of snow here in NY anyday! I'm also crazy about hot weather, so anything that takes me to a tropical location, I'm all for! I love the beach, the sand, the sun, and a good Bahama Mama or Goombay Smash! We also have the Kennedy Space Center Shuttle excursion booked through Royal...I didn't realize they close at 5pm though - so I may consider canceling that reservation. When I did this sailing before, I booked the shuttle over to Universal Resort Orlando and did a solo day there - single rider lines were my saving grace! Had a great time and did pretty much everything I wanted to do there before having to catch the shuttle back to the port. I've been looking at other things in the vicinity of Port Canaveral and finding the experiences I know my son would love are closed or have reduced hours due to COVID...The reduced hours wouldn't be so bad if we were still getting into port by noon, but now that we won't be there until 3pm, options are super limited. I hope you and your family have a wonderful trip!! I'm so tired of counting down, LOL. LET'S GO ALREADY!
