If you need to reschedule a pre-existing booking to a different sailing date, can you use a certificate on the new booking?

We changed our Alaska cruise to a Canada cruise.  We had a change fee of $100 per stateroom.  No certificate was issued, it was just changed.

Thought I already posted this but it isn't showing.

I changed my flight (as everyone suggested) so now I am arriving a full day before the cruise in Newark and am looking at hotels, any recommendations?

I was looking at the SPringhill Suites by Marriott, anyone stay there before?

We stayed at Springhill Suites Newark Liberty International Airport in October and will be staying again in June for our cruise.  Nice hotel.

  3. Our last two cruises were on the Jewel of the Seas.  I purchased wine thru Royal ahead of time and all the wine ordered was in our cabin when we arrived.  However, the cabin steward did not have cork screws and they called the dinning room/room service people and they would only come to our cabin and open the wine for us!!!  I took it down to one of the bars and they opened it for me. After that we just took a bottle down unopened to the dining room and they opened it can kept it for us the next night.  From now on, I will take my own cork screw.  I actually have a Royal Caribbean one that they gave us years ago so I will just bring that one.  I even went down to Guest Services where they told me to take it to a bar to get opened....This has August 2022 and October 2023.

We'll be on the Jewel for the Fall Foliage cruise from Bayonne to Quebec. I've been arranging transportation for the airport (Quebec City) and planning our return flight. Unfortunately, Delta doesn't use that airport, and I learned the closest for them is Montreal. I'm unsure how to arrange transport from the port to Montreal, whether by car service, taxi, or train. Googling mostly provided info for Quebec airport, and while there's a nearby train station, I'm unfamiliar with trains. Any assistance would be appreciated, considering Montreal airport is about a 4-hour "train" ride, and I'm uncertain about driving.

I just did this in October.  We rented a car from Hertz (thru Delta).  You have to take a taxi to Hertz.  We drove to Montreal airport for our flight.  We didn't do the trains either due to us not familiar with them either.  The only problem we had was trying to get to the rental return lot at the airport.  We finally pulled up to departures and hubby went in and asked.  The airport was about 2 hrs drive.  Once you get out of downtown (Hertz) you are on a major highway so the drive wasn't hard at all (except for the 5" of snow falling like crazy!).

whitsmom, thanks for the info.  I'll look at the departure ports again.  How did you like this cruise?  We enjoy every ship, but I'm wondering about the ports and overall experience.

We loved it!  We even got snowed on 🫣!  There is a lot to see and we love the Jewel.  There were a lot of excursions in each port of call so a wide variety to choose from.  The food/service was excellent also.  This was our first Diamond cruise so the 4 drink coupons were put to good use.  I wish we had time to have done a B2B on this one.

Yes.  Please get rid of the 70s night.  Those who were 20 in the 1970s are now 64-73, well outside of Royal Caribbean's target demo.  Keep the walkers and canes off the dance floor.

Would also like to see some rock bands playing more songs from the 90s+.  Less caribbean style bands, more up and coming / little known American rock bands.

The 70's night was the most attended thing on our last several cruises.  We look forward to the 70's more than anything else.  There were many that dressed the part and we enjoyed all of it!  We are 66 and no canes or walkers here; however, so what if there were - the music was way better back then and what is out there now!  As a matter of fact, the dance floor was full and many were on upper floors dancing & singing too.

Through Google searching I see beautiful advertising on the RC website for cruises that include Quebec City, but I can't find a way to see actual cruise listings.  They don't seem to appear in the drop downs of departure ports or destinations.  Any ideas or suggestions?

It is the Fall Foliage Canada Cruise on the Jewel.  They only have like three (October).  We were on October 20-30th this year.  We went out of Cape Liberty port and ended in Quebec City.

Forgive this intrusion....not about BOGO, but on a peripheral topic.

For the first time EVER, Dan and I did an ala carte meal (Izumi, Grandeur) yesterday.  We wanted something light for lunch but honestly, I could not face going to the WJ (it has been a nightmare....this cruise has SO.MANY.CHILDREN.  Why aren't they in school ?...).  So we just went up to Izumi (no rez) and ordered some soup and dumplings.  Came out to $25 (including grat.) for both of us.  What a GREAT decision.  I will consider this again ANY time.

Honestly, we rarely eat lunch...but this was a great solution for a quick, tasty meal....and worth every penny.

It is fall break for my Grands this week and it is fall break here next week so that is probably why so many kids are there.

I stayed at the Delta Marriott. Walking distance to the port and train station and a nice spot for breakfast around the corner.

We stayed here also.  My friend was on a knee scooter so walking was out so they hotel let his airport shuttle driver take us and drop us off for $25 cash.  That worked for us and he got to keep the cash himself.  Win-win for all involved 😉

We usually stay in standard rooms to control costs, but we frequently treat our adult children to join us, so it probably balances out.

I agree that prices have increased, but they've increased on land as well. To me the alternative to a cruise is a road trip to a national park. At this point, I find a cruise in standard cabin is still cost competitive and much easier.

We just booked a National Park (Out West) land tour for next September and it is way more expensive than a cruise.  However, we are trying to get bucket list ($$$) trips out of the way before we retire while we are still working.  We will be retiring in 2-3 years then we can travel more leisurely with our "big" trips already done.  We prioritize saving for our trips.  We also want to do our bucket list trips while we are in good health.  I have heard too many stories of people that waited to do their bucket list travel after they retired and health issues made it impossible to achieve.

We have booked a northbound Alaska cruise on Radiance next July. We would like to extend our vacation with a Royal Carribean Land Cruise. They have several to choose from.  Looking for recommendations. Thanks in advance for your help.

In 2018, we did the Northbound then did the 3 day land tour.  I would have loved to done a longer one but work got in the way.  It was fantastic!  If you can do the longest one they have.

We are going with our two young granddaughters and our son + dil, so we are going to use a car service.  I don’t know which one…my wife has been dealing with that.   I’ll try to remember to find out.

We are booked on Odyssey in Jan 2025 and I found a room with parking at the Courtyard Newark Elizabeth that includes “transportation to the cruise port”.  We’re not sure what it exactly is, but it’s just the two of us on this cruise so it’s not a big deal.

I would be interested in what car service you will be using.  This is the route I prefer is at all possible.  Thanks in advance.

If you cancel a non-refundable deposit, then you will lose the entire deposit. (https://www.royalcaribbean.com/faq/questions/if-i-cancel-a-non-refundable-deposit-reservation-what-refunds-apply).  So, what you want to do is to make a "change" to your ship and/or sailing date.  You will need to pay $100 per person to make the change to a different sailing of your choosing.  So using your words, you must "transfer it to a new cruise booking immediately".

Yes this is what we did when we cancelled our Alaska cruise for June 2024 and changed it for Canada cruise for June 2024.  We only lost $100 each instead of the entire deposit (8 people).
