  1. I do not think you have to pay taxes on any winnings when on a cruise ship because the casino does not open until you are in international waters. That is way they close at U.S. ports of call. Someone in our group last year on a cruise won $3100 on a slot machine on 1 transaction on the first night and they did not have to pay any taxes on that win.
  2. That was my initial thought anyway was to try 150 Central Park because we have never had this & we just had Chops. Then when I seen that Chops was more money then I was definitely leaning this way. How is 150 Central Park? I have only been on an Oasis class one other time about 5 years ago.
  3. I was wondering if anyone knew the price on Chops went up or is it just the ship? Let me explain. We were on the Freedom on Aug. 21st and we ate at Chops for $35 p/p. What was expected (booked and ate on the 4th night). So now jump ahead 4 weeks later we are going on the Oasis in 2 weeks Oct. 15, and I was looking at some of the pre-booking options and Chops in now $42 p/p. So did the price go up fleet wide or is this just because it's an Oasis class ship? I was wondering if anyone on other ships that have Chops Grille as a specialty restaurant if their price is $35 or $42? This is the only specialty restaurant on the list that went up compared to the same options on the Freedom.
  4. Yes as Matt said on our Aug. Freedom cruise the pictures were $20 because with our C&A discount we had a BOGO 50% off so 2 pictures cost us $30.
  5. Like everyone said above you do not need to pre-book any entertainment. However, my suggestion is if there are any shows you want to see in the Ice theater (Ice Skating Rink) get there a some what early. We went to Freedom-Ice.com ice skating show and we also went to the Quest. We arrived between 5 minutes early for the ice show, and 15-20 for the quest and we had to stand for both shows in the back. As for the shows in the main theater we walked into those just before they started and we did not have a problem finding a seat, and we did this multiple time for the 2 comedy & love & marriage
  6. There have been a few times I have thought I wish I had a GoPro like mud runs, obstacle course runs, ect. When we were on the Freedom in August we were on the cruise that got rerouted to Costa Maya & Cozumel and in Cozumel we rented speedboats with a snorkel excursion. On this we rented a GoPro from the "excursion resort" for $30 although not the most exciting snorkeling spot we have been to, but using the GoPro on the boat then jumping in the water without a worry and the videos seemed to come out pretty well (which we couldn't see until we got home, we basically bought the memory card for $30). And this is what got me thinking about purchasing one after the GoPro Hero5 was announced. So I thought maybe for the Oct. Oasis cruise with our kids I could get one. Then after reading some posts on here I'm afraid I would be in the same boat, I would forget to bring it (or use it) or remembering after its too late most of the time and I don't want to spend $400 + accessories on a "cruise camera" because there is very minimal adventurous things to use a GoPro on in Indiana so that's my conscience. On the other hand this last cruise I didn't take but 2 pictures the whole trip, my wife takes her phone everywhere so she took a lot more photos than I did because I leave my phone in the safe all week. With all that said I do enjoy reading everyone opinions because it allows to me read other peoples thoughts that I might not have thought of.
  7. That was my concern about not being about to see what you shot until the "shot" was over & hope for the best when you get home or back to the ship.. Then just yesterday GoPro just announced the release their new Hero5 black edition $399 coming Oct. 2nd with a screen on the back & the camera is waterproof without using any housings. Would these options make you consider buying one?
  8. @matt what are the reasons you do not recommend the GoPro? I am going on the Oasis in 3.5 weeks and was looking at getting one before that cruise. When I was on the Freedom in August I looked at them in the Photo Gallery almost everyday debating on getting one. However, the main reason was I do not know much about the GoPro cameras but liked the thought of using it in & out of the water.
  9. Yes, we just went on the Freedom 3 weeks ago and we ordered shots with our drink package. We even had shots added to drinks and no questions asked. Just handed them our card, they swiped it & $0 was the total.
  10. When we sailed on the Freedom last Nov. 2015 there was 1 night in the Windjammer where they had one section of the buffet that was nothing but sushi. There was probably 8-10 different rolls to choose from. My wife & I just happened upon it that night. We just didn't feel like eating in the MDR so we ventured in the Windjammer for dinner & to our surprise there was sushi :D so we were happy we made the decision to skip the MDR that night. Also I will be on the Freedom next week, and I will try to see if they still do this and if so what night it usually occurs on
  11. I will be back on the Freedom again in less than a month so I will give you an update to the banana mystery. I wonder if its fleet wide or maybe just ships going out of Port Canaveral. I would assume these island oasis drink (banana) mixes would come from a vendor from that area. Working in the beverage industry it could be that whoever distributes this product no longer carries this flavor. Where as ships going out of Miami, Fort Lauderdale, ect would all have different vendors or distributors.
  12. I understand your pain because our last Freedom cruise I tried to order a BBC (Banana Baileys Colada) & they told me "we could not make those anymore because they do not carry the Banana mix. The bartenders said it was a popular request, but just like you said no one knows why?
  13. My opinion would be based off of when you have to get off the ship. When we have an early flight we always skip the breakfast and eat at the airport. However, with a later flight we are not in a hurry so as crazy as the Windjammer is we don't have any reason to rush around so we just deal with the madness and take in that last "free" meal. We usually find a table first (the hardest part every time you eat in the Windjammer) then take turns going through the lines. We always do the self-disembark so we can sort of control when we leave the ship.
  14. Freedom of the Seas - Caribbean - August 21, 2016 Oasis of the Seas - Caribbean - Oct 15, 2016
  15. The last cruise we were on was the Freedom of the Seas last November (2015) and my wife & I both got the ultimate drink package. We had a 5 minute wait time between drinks. The reason I know this to be the case was we took a shot after the shot we ordered a beverage and when he went to swipe the card there was an message that popped up and said something to the effect of we had to wait 5 minutes. So we asked the bartender what that was about because he told us we had to wait 5 minutes before we could order. That's when he also confirmed what I seen on the screen (just couldn't read it) that with the drink package the only limitation you have to wait 5 minutes between ordering drinks.
  16. I would agree with all the above posts. We usually get there between 9:30 - 10:30 all depending on the shuttle from the hotel or rental car place (neither seem to go fast enough). There has only been 1 time that we had to wait over 2 hours because of a customs issue, but every other time we have been able to smoothly go through check-in and security and get on the ship. Because like most other people your vacation doesn't really start until you are on that ship!
  17. http://www.royalcaribbeanblog.com/freedom-seas-main-dining-room-menu Here is the one I was referring to.
  18. @scottstein1 How was the Mystery Dinner Theater? In your honest opinion was it worth the time & money?
  19. So the menu pictured on this website is still the dinner menu they are using. Ok sound good, now I can go back through & book the Sabor that everyone on here talks about. I can't wait to give this a shot, since I love Mexican food! Thanks Matt
  20. Can anyone tell me if the dinner menu has changed with the recent upgrade to the Freedom? I was looking for a recent (updated) menu and the only one I found was from posted on this blog website in 2012. We are cruising on the Freedom soon and was wanting to pre-book a few specialty restaurants but definitely do not want to miss out on a few of my favorite dishes from the MDR!
