  1. I would agree with most of what you claim. My bankroll is about $5000. I usually only bring an amount of what the cruise would cost me should I have to pay for it. A Junior suite normally goes for about that price depending on what port / country. Slots are usually the only way to earn a comped balcony quickly. On $5,000 I can reach 8000 points and get a junior suite. Sometimes I win...sometimes I lose. Many times I break even and that is a huge win . There is always the chance of hitting a jackpot too. The strategy is to use the casinos money to play (recycled) and get your points up. I also get free play on all my cruises, Sometimes up to $1,000. This happens when you take your earned comped certificate and book it through NEXT CRUISE . You must book it that week or lose it....but there is a form you can fill out should you need extra time to figure out what cruise you would like to go on. I have much more to say on the topic... but that is it for now. THX
  2. Boo hoo to all you southerners..... thats mild for us Canadians. I mostly sail out of Port Liberty in NJ.... Whats the worry? the next day or so you will be in Bahamas .
  3. YES! I have used this service many times , but I must admit there are some hiccups along the way in terms of communication where there are flights changes that you need to stay on top of, so you must do your due diligence and continually check your flight status frequently. You often will hear from cruise experts that you should always book your flight at least one day prior to your cruise. Not me. Im cheap. I dont want to spend another $200-$400 for a hotel room plus expenses for that. I book day of cruise and have never had a glitch until recently my first time....but Royal's Air2Sea took care of it and all went smoothly. My original flight was direct Toronto to Puerto Rico and back for a 2 week cruise., Well that changes going and coming back. I had to fly the day before, and fly the day after disembarkation . To make a long story short Royal paid all my expenses for the first hotel and put me in a 4 star hotel in Puerto Rico, which nicely extended my stay as it was a beautiful day and a beautiful hotel. I hardly never book a one week cruise so even if I might miss a day on embarkation, Royal promises to get me to the next port... fine with me.
  4. Bigger selection at WJ. MDR is limited and quite often your food may not be hot. If Im in the mood for eggs benedict I go to MDR. The eggs benny in WJ is always cold, cold hollandaise sauce, eggs hard. If you dont like lines and looking for a seat, its worth trying the MDR
  5. yes, I got that. I was under the impression they were doing away with Diamond lounge .
  6. concierge lounge/ does not mean Diamond lounge? Or are they changing the Diamond lounge to a "Concierge lounge?
  7. Just thinking , I could probably hire a private yacht to meet at the Island from bahamas, and cruise for the same price. Or catamaran.
  8. You went? Perhaps I did not read it correct. Suite guests/Pinnacle only.
  9. Take your luggage and go directly to your room. Chances are it will be open. My wife and now only do carry on. Many times I have seen people waiting for their luggage until after embarkation! ( if your room is not ready just leave them outside the door)
  10. First time doing 4 B2B , but this seems to be a favourite ship to do so. Looking for tips on best beach in Aruba to hang out.
  11. No. They could do so much better on sandwiches if they want to. yuck. I like the concept of Portside BBQ... they should bring that to the Island. Enough burgers, dogs, tacos, . Same goes for Labadee.
  12. I would agree with you, but I do think there will some items eliminated from the menu. The whole concept here is to speed up service and hotter food and save costs.
  13. Save your money . Simply read online reviews and you will discover that this is really not a good value. Neither is the beach club . The waters are never crystal clear from my experience and almost every time I go I see somebody stung by a jellyfish or sea urchin. plus all kinds of critters unbeknownst . There are only so many hours in that day to use, and you may want to go about and discover the whole island as well. Or spend time in the huge pool. Ive seen prices as high as $3400 for a hut on the water. Even sharing with others, the price is ridiculously high.
  14. I only went to this lounge for a specialty expresso now and then. The Hors d'oeuvres have never been appealing to me , but I do on on occasion utilize the services of the concierge. So now I must use my drink vouchers to get a expresso. So the perks are getting to the point where value is diminished, and non motivating to achieve. I would suggest to change the drink voucher system to "drink dollars" . It seems like a waste to use the vouchers for a bottle of water or coffee. For a one week cruise, you get 5 drinks a day which equals 35 drinks x $14 = $490. Why not just deduct dollar for dollar every drink you select from that? ( $14 reflects maximum price of drink allowed)
  15. Are you not the super chat philanthropist ? Who cares? Its only money.
  16. Think . Less staff = less services. The room stewards now clean more rooms. They are not going anywhere. Once a day is fine with me. Even when I stay at hotels for a week, I tell the maid to come every second day. You will now begin to notice all the changes as a result of lockdown and losses incurred by Royal and other cruise lines. You want extra luxury? Open up your wallet and go to Oceana or Regent cruise line.
  17. truth be told huh? Dont think that cruise experience on board gets any worse. Never again.
  18. Welcome to the new world. Nobody wants to work. Even if they do, there is no real "work ethic " anymore. They dont care. Royal, like all other cruise lines and all other businesses around the globe are suffering post Lockdowns. Lack of employees , lack of products, lack of tech, lack of everything. Sure you can book a travel agent, ( if there are still any good ones working that is) . I book direct through Club Royal, and avoid most of what you experienced. I would phone as soon as they open or the last hour of close if it were me.
  19. Just came off a 2 week B2B in a junior suite. Island hop all the way, different port daily. No sea days. St Lucia, Barbados, St Croix, St Maarten, Antigua, St Kitts, St Thomas, ... Great ports, Antigua, and Barbados my favourite for beach time. Dining on this ship is a nightmare every single day. Thank God I had a designated table time every night in the MDR. MyTime would have 200 people plus in cue daily. Some waiting up to 2 hours to eat! I would say that almost every second table had new staff, and errors galore daily. Windjammer ....such an appropriate name..... Jammed all day! Long line ups breakfast , lunch and dinner. 50-100ft long. Then once you get your plate, good luck finding a seat! People simply did not leave their tables. I think its more of a cultural thing with 99% of the ship were spanish speaking Puerto Ricans.....they simply camped at the buffet all day long. It got so bad just to get a burger, that the staff had to make shift a burger station out on the pool deck to accommodate the need. Gamble? good luck getting a seat. As there are no sea days to lounge around the casino and try your luck, the small casino is packed full. But there were very few serious players. Meaning most people are gambling 8cents a spin to 45 cents. Im not kidding. I am a Club Royale Signature player and could never play what I wanted as a result. So my play time was limited and could not get the play time I like to do , to keep a steady rating on my profile. Love the ports...nice to get off the ship daily. Had lunch on land most days . Would not recommend this type of cruise.... at least not right now.
  20. When one cruise line makes a significant change on anything, the rest are sure to follow. $5 bucks for an extra plate is no problem for me. too many people are ordering everything on the menu x2 . Just for taste. Its wasted food. Royal will also be eliminating some items on the MDR menu as well. Probably the ones that aren't ordered as much. That might be a smart idea, as it would speed up service time. If somebody is complaining about these new policies, because they cant stuff their face anymore, then they should go to WindJammer buffet and jam their face there. Way too much wasted food in the MDR. Simplify it and make it better quality. Warm water lobster?....yuck. I never order it. Glorified scampi is what it is. Not even close to Maine lobster.
  21. Beer should be half a point then. (for Diamond Plus vouchers)
  22. Earnings came out better than expected. So is it time to buy? Or is this still a volatile kind of stock and market? One more virus pandemic and kaboom!
  23. thats incredible. I would like to see pic/video of how you possibly can do that! 9 bathing suits....why so many?
