  1. Im going to add leaving your dirty dishes outside your room door. YUCK.. who wants to walk by that ? People leaving their drinks finished or unfinished in the elevator floor or at the lobby. And of course the big one total disregard for lines.
  2. experienced this last cruise in a junior suite. Unfortunately we had a adjoining room and someone in that room constantly opened and slammed doors, like numerous times. Even worse they have their balcony door open and open and shut the state room door WHAM!!!
  3. This is an in depth question and it all depends on your ports of call, and whether or not you are on a "closed looped cruise" Sure there are places you can go without a passport, but the bottom line here is cruise with a passport. Period. Just think if there is an emergency... a passport will make the situation much easier.
  4. I have a couple. EARLY BIRD SUN LOUNGER HOGS And my second is men who wear baseball caps in the MDR or Specialty Restaurants. Total lack of etiquette and disrespectful .Rude. Call me old fashioned, but thats how I still view it.
  5. I don't remember being asked for my card. Perhaps its facial recognition? Every time I cruise, the host comes up and introduces themselves. Maybe the staff have a powwow meeting prior to guests boarding and are filled in on how many vip guests will be playing? I was on a Celebrity cruise once, with a group of friends, and none of us paid for a beverage package. We picked a specific bar onboard and tipped the bartender HEAVILY all week. Even though there are cameras watching, I think he plays the facade that all these are prepaid packages. With the amount of money we tipped, we might as well bought the package!
  6. specific slot machines. The newer flashier ones tend to be more volatile. Stick to old school machines. Play highest denomination. Be patient, you will hit. Avoid Lightning/dragon link, Huff n puff.
  7. I very rarely see anybody play $50 spins. But I am going to agree with you. You need to find a machine that has "low volatility " Double Diamond" for instance. Dragon link, Lightning will eat up your bank roll fast. Old school machines are best. I watch some YouTubers who's past occupation was fixing and maintaining slot machines. Many techs agree that cruise machine slots are the best to play ...better than land based casinos and tribal. I love video poker, but for some reason the odds are not as good and yes, it will take forever to accumulate points. I dont even look at points anymore regardless. Top Dollar is a great machine to play a huge bank roll through. It may eat up fast at times, but eventually you will hit.. and sometimes very big.
  8. over a period of a one week cruise or 9-11 days, a casual cruiser/gambler may achieve points to get a free inside cabin ....maybe prime. but the 30cent player...forget it. Waste of money but maybe they just enjoy the entertainment. Most times I get a junior suite then I upgrade it through casino royale customer service for very little in many cases up to sky suites. Depends on who's manipulating the all the data. I check weekly my comped cruises.... right now I have at least a dozen to choose from. I will be on Odyssey of the Seas this Jan for one month GRATIS...and I dont have to gamble a penny. Status already achieved for next cycle April 1. Grant it , it takes time to figure all this out and you need to stay on top of it. I had a personal casino host, but they stopped doing that for some reason. Im always calling in to see what upgrades I can get... many times for almost nothing... like 50-100 bucks. Grand suite and above.
  9. old school news. much has changed. I am way ahead with comped cruises than paying for them
  10. Disagree with this statement. People dont realize the ongoing weekly/monthly comped cruise offers sent via email. Further there is free play attached to them. I can cruise every single month if I want to, many time its a suite as well. I am far ahead cruising this way.
  11. I would agree that in most cases the Prime status is achievable between $1500-$2,000 Avoid volatile slots. Try to recycle the casinos money..
  12. I always go to the casino host and ask for a print out of the list of cruises that I could possibly win. , as you are correct, many of those qualifying cruises are either already full or not good for your personal schedule.
  13. NEVER. So this must be something new and perhaps applies to a certain age group thats more prone to "party up" in their stateroom? This is common in most hotels now, so this would not totally surprise me. I think we have all seen evidence of ratted up rooms over the years.... ie stains on couches, chairs, kids marking up walls, curtains, smoke burns on chairs/tables balcony, ....yup seen it all.
  14. Ok, so i just read the fine print on this. Correct. But these rules are bended frequently. I see couples play together and one member may be prime or signature and they both get free drinks. Or just say you are prime... nobody ever looks at my card. The servers really dont care.WHY? because they are expecting tips. If you can serve 20 drinks in one hour that $20 bucks an hour, not bad for cruise staff wages. The bartender probably makes the most money on many casino ships. Im not suggesting to cheat here, but once you start tipping and recognized for that you will get your free drinks. This would apply only if the existing rules are slack and not enforced. Maybe its changed. But from my experience, there are lots of people getting free drinks, non prime/signature/master. Your card is in the machine.,and playing... give it a try.
  15. I would agree here, but for some achieving Diamond is a stretch especially first timers cant even go there. I would NEVER pay $83 a day. Bring a couple bottles of wine to start. Beer drinker? Buy the OIL CAN Fosters beer. Its like 2 beers for one. $9 Gamble? go to the casino ... get free drinks..... dont gamble put in 5 bucks and play 30 cents a spin to qualify and drink. Some people fill empty bottles of mouthwash with vodka. LOL
  16. 2023 starts with Odyssey of the Seas 4 weeks B2B! Jan 22. Hope all the airport mess is cleared by then and no more storms!
  17. If you happen to be in a suite, I would email the concierge ., which might help, otherwise just inform your server in advance., wherever you eat.
  18. I can echo this comment. However once this precedent has initiated, I cant see it being reversed. Things are changing rapidly. For the people who want all this extra services and amenities, they might need to look at luxury cruise lines such as Regent, Silverseas, etc. and Im sure they have their own cutbacks as well. Further with the noted billions in losses, it would not surprise me to see more bankruptcies in the future.... I would start with Carnival... look at the stock prices.
  19. Ive done many b2b sailings. However I never took the time to check in when I get a notification for the upcoming cruises. Should I? Am I taking a risk in not doing so? It seems guest services already know this and send me instructions every time anyway.
  20. After subtracting overhead costs, a ship will make out with roughly $291 in net profit per passenger, per cruise. That means that at full capacity, a single ship like Royal Caribbean's Symphony of the Seas might make $9.8m in revenue ($1.7m of which is profit) during one 7-day excursion.
  21. I dont think thats true. I tip $10 every time I dine in CK. I always get exceptional service.
  22. This is true. One must pay the port charges and taxes too. The way I look at it is this.... If I am going to cruise and I know I will gamble, then going through the Club Royal gambling system is the only way to go. What I am essentially doing is paying for my next cruise. But I always stand the chance to win. And win I do. Sometimes I lose... and sometimes I break even. Its far more fun doing it this way if you are a cruiser and will gamble. The perks are great (free internet for the week, amenities, free drinks, comps, annual free cruise anywhere Royal sails, etc.) Further , what I have learned recently from slot machine technicians is that cruise slots are the best an only way to go, over land base, and tribal casinos. Further as a Canadian, I pay no taxes on my winnings. One day I will live on the ships like Super Mario and play slots . Its inevitable .
