  1. And as someone helpfully pointed out to me once, if you see a good price book it....you can always cancel and re-book if the price drops even lower. The sales tend to disappear right before the sail date, and not a lot to be found on board.
  2. Amazon has some nice ones -- also try Etsy and BooJee (http://www.boojeebeads.com/). A lot of teachers I know like the boojee styles.....
  3. Agreed -- we are using the inside parking at Park N Cruise. It's a bit of a walk from the terminal to the car, but not bad....and I especially agree that avoiding Harborside is a big plus!
  4. Looks like it has already returned.... I really like having wine with dinner, but as long as I can bring a few bottles on-board to have on the balcony with no fee, I can live with it. Just a matter of time before they start charging at embarkation though....
  5. Does anyone know -- is there a timeline for the menu changes? We sail in November....just curious if this is rolling out this year, or at some TBD time in the future. Thanks!
  6. They had miso soup for breakfast on Mariner of the Seas when it was in Galveston....not much asian at all on Liberty of the Seas.
  7. LOVE the tutti salad....rarely even order off the menu, we just get that! Last year on LOS they had a sushi bar one day -- glad we got there early. It was delicious, but the line was to the door when we left. That was really the only day we ever saw a line; it took time to work through the queue.
  8. We love ours -- admittedly, half the reason I use it is to organize stuff BEFORE we cruise. (Its already hanging behind the spare room closet door.) Even though our teen boys have moved to their own room, we still keep it to store a lot of our extras for excursions, etc. And yes, for shoes! We did have it on the outside of the closet door last time as well -- didn't bother me so much, and it makes things easy to find. When we traveled four to a cabin with two kids, this thing was a must for me. (It's a mom-sanity-saver in tight quarters!) Now its optional and I still bring it. Don't think anyone NEEDS it, but if you like staying organized, it can make your trip all the more relaxing.
  9. Our last holiday cruise, lots of families...lots of orders, lots of trays, all day. I agree with the poster who talked about the thousands of meals they have to put together daily -- running 1 or 2 item orders all over the ship is cumbersome and probably not very cost effective. I also plan to "get my money's worth" when we order room service, but it will still only be 2-3 times over the entire cruise that we will use it. And I imagine it will be the same for most people -- they may have a few "big" orders, but won't order something every day like before. I understand people being irritated though...the roll-out was just so sloppy, and it is harder on those will mobility issues.
  10. Anyone on a Thanksgiving cruise going to Roatan looking for an excursion? Just booked with Free Radical on the 22nd and need a few more people; we have 4 and need at least 2 more to make the trip happen. (I believe the limit the charter to about 16 maximum, which is still a LOT less than we would see on a cruise excursion.) Also, if you have any experience with Free Radical, please leave some feedback! Looking for a nice snorkeling excursion that includes lunch, AND will get me back to the pier at least 2 hours early so I can get my shopping on before boarding.... :o)
  11. So new menus will be installed fleet-wide by then? Wow. Will be interesting to see the changes!
  12. Minus morning coffee on the balcony, we did not use room service much. Even with two teen boys, we ordered a burger and pizza one night. The food was mediocre at best and took FOREVER to arrive. Also, on our last November trip, trays of half-eaten food all over the halls with so many kids on board. Maybe the cruise lines are discouraging people from using room service -- it just jams everything up and has people scrambling to deliver food, not get tipped half the time, and have to pick up dishes left and right. If they up the quality I might not mind the up-charge, but free wasn't even worth it for us last time. On a side note, if you DO order room service, don't stiff the delivery people of their tip -- you are not punishing RCI at all, rather the poor person who did their job. If you've just paid a couple thousand for a cruise, I don't think they can relate to your expressing anger at the policy change by not giving them a $2-3 tip.
  13. We had no problems at Nachi -- waiter told us they use purified water for ice, and always brought bottled water to drink.
  14. It has been a steady 20% off (US$44/day) for our cruise although I didn't check this week. I know personally, if we have relatives visiting and have drinks Friday through Monday, I am ready to call it quits by Monday. I think I'll enjoy myself a few days but save myself the drink package...I would never be able to let it go and not drink my quota every day! I really think my liver (and head!) will thank me... But on a side note, I am also hoping those drink cards make an appearance!
  15. We plan on doing the Mixology class (which recent reviews have said was very fun) and the brunch on our cruise next week (woo hoo! next week!). We are already booked for a chef's table on Saturday. Do people suggest doing those early in the week, or later as a nice way to end out the cruise? I would like to do lunch in Giovanni's but no real desire for a pasta class.
  16. We just booked Chefs Table at a discount, so happy about that....
  17. I agree with what you say...but I had to laugh when I saw your profile picture. If I had a beer like that every day, I'd have drink fatigue too!!! :D P.S. Thanks DocLC for the GREAT tool!
  18. I saw on another board there was a Champagne Brunch/ Galley tour on the last sea day for about $35 -- looked like a lot of fun with some champagne, mimosas, and appetizers. Hoping to try it next month!
