  1. Technical variation, same result - where you in the military lol
  2. I like the different strokes attitude. My first inclination was to demean Johnny Rockets and tout Playmakers (because I LOVE PM). After reading the string of comments, I agree that there is a place for both on the ships. My favorite ship is the Independence because Playmakers is next to the Casino. I get free drinks in the Casino and great food next door. If I could move a bed in, I would be set. I was on the Independence at Coco Cay last week. The Freedom was also there. The bartenders at Cpt Jacks were off the Freedom and remembered us from the cruise last month. They were Playmaker bartenders. Lets just say my Diamond drinks stretched out pretty far. They remember good tippers who are nice to them.
  3. Congress suspended the Passenger Vessel Services Act for a bit and we did not have to touch Canada during our October 2021 Alaska cruise out of Seattle. Might be a good idea to suspend the PVSA a lot more for all cruises. I'm okay with not debarking 99% of the time.
  4. Every cruise, we have taken, since October has been the same. They look for a name, date and the word negative. They could have cared less if there was a QR code or if the paper was real or not. We did the $15 OnPoint and there was no problem. Last week's boarding was a tad different. They barely even looked for the three pieces of information. Just wanted to see we had a piece of paper that mentioned a Covid test.
  5. 50% is hyperbole. Sorry. Basic point is that cruise lines do have some economic power to shape things at their Ports of Call.
  6. I will upgrade my casino offers sometimes with better offers. However, if the original offer is past its due date, I just lose that particular offer. Which is fine. I always get back tax and gratuities right up until I sail away, if cancelled.
  7. Many of these Countries rely on cruise ships for over 50% some of their GDP (up to 6%). Cruise lines are in a very strong position to dictate the requirements for entry. Flex that economic muscle baby! New rule says that unvaccinated have to test up to 3 days out. So I am now officially unvaccinated and will no longer supply my vax card to have an extra day of no stress. Seriously, did I read that part right? 3 days before - unvaxxed; 2 days before for vaxxed on cruises of 6 days or more
  8. Need to skip any Country that won't let in the untested/unvaccinated. It is their right to refuse entry and it is the cruise lines right to go somewhere else or just cruise around the Caribbean. I rarely get off in Nassau anyway. I do like the empty ship as everyone else disembarks though.
  9. I think I had some comments deleted also. Strange, I wonder if it happens a lot. Admins should at least send you a note to point out the offending passages. I didn't even get any "warning points" adjudicated - darn
  10. I just got off 7 days on the Indy. Saw maybe 50 passengers with masks on - most incorrectly worn or taken off multiple times. Generally do what makes you comfortable. I only wore/wear a mask when absolutely forced - except when robbing banks or trick or treating. Caught COVID once on a B2B in January.
  11. We did October 2021 (round trip Seattle) and May 2022 (southbound Seward to Vancouver) Alaska cruises. Both excellent. My wife's favorite cruises thus far. The Ports were quaint, the views incredible, and the ships above par. No complaints that I know of.
  12. Generally, I cruise more than my wife. She gets the same points and status as I do.
  13. Almost Diamond +. Never got a pin yet. Never asked though. I do want my Pinocchio Pin when it becomes due as a memento. P.S. it's how i spell and say it
  14. Last week was the first time out of @8 (in the last year) that I did not get an upgrade. The Indy was pretty full which was good. OV was ok and was in a balcony for the second part of the B2B. I saw the submitted vs. pending thingy. I could cancel my previous bids and resubmit with a different amount if desired.
  15. totally disagree. I trust a fireman to put out fires. I trust a Soldier to guard us. I trust a cruise ship company to cruise. COVID is not in RCL's "lane". RCL was made to follow some political science idiotocracy. Now that they are free to make proper business decisions, many of us hope that they will in the Covid arena as they do in most of their other areas.
  16. OnPoint. Bring your own test kit and it's @ $15. My wife, I and another passenger did it. We all had the same experience. A young lady, who seemed to be in a wind tunnel, told you what to do. She really paid no attention to what you were doing and her only concern was a single line on the test strip. No questions about expiration date, no monitoring if you put a clean swab in the liquid tube, no notice if you do any of the procedures. I see doing my own free self test and Photoshop in my future instead of wasting the $15. In the Army, we called this test a finger drill.
  17. RCL needs to clearly lay out what comprises a successful exemption request. Also, an answer should be available within 3 - 5 business days. Seems like some shoddy administrative work in this area with little proper management oversight.
  18. Was talking about entering passport and covid info on RCL site for every cruise.
  19. We bought inflatable floats. Use them all the time and give them as gifts to people who travel with us. Actually like them a lot. Even use them as pillows on the lounge chairs. The floats have two cylindrical air pockets with a mesh-like seat between them. Two to four huffs and they are full.
  20. lol Waiting for RCL to offer me a March cruise. I am on the Indy today and my wife joins me tomorrow for a 4 day. It's like a circular firing squad - except in a good way. I cruise, I gamble - they "give" me cruises. I plan to do a cruise a month until we get on every RCL ship. Then chill out and either go to law school or culinary school. Been retired 10 years and keep busy doing things. People who retire and sit around are just not taking advantage of this wonderful world and all it has to offer.
  21. It is easy to add the information, but why do I have to enter it for every cruise? I cruise every month and have to enter passport and vax info - silly. Then they ask for the same documents, plus covid test, at the Port.
  22. I've booked @36+ cruises since October, 2021 with casino comps. I got one GTY balcony thus far. The others have been balconies/Suites wherever I wanted on the ship generally. I usually book 2 rooms (one under me, other under wife). It may change as the ships fill up. I have had 3-6 offers a month, for each of us, many that I can't use.
  23. My only experience is with casino free cruises. I just dropped my wife off of a cruise for Friday (daughter needs her help). I get the double points and her tax/gratuity money back.
