  1. My regular cruising group has actually switched over from preferring MTD to fixed schedule dining (we prefer the late dining option). Basically, we had been using the MTD option because we didn't like being fixed to a particular time as the activities we were wanting to do changed pretty much nightly. The last few cruises we were on though, we couldn't make any reservations before 1930 ahead of time (and I started looking 6 months out), and on the ship itself we weren't permitted to line up at the designated MTD dining room until 1900 to 1930. Not sure if that's something universal that's been going on, but as a result, we decided that there wasn't really that big of a difference timewise between doing MTD or late-seating standard dining, and as such, we'd prefer to have the same seats and the same waitstaff every night.
  2. Can't wait for this cruise! We managed to snag one of the Sunset Corner Suites. As more and more info gets released about the ship, the more excited we get!! Just booked our spots at Maya Chan for the day in Costa Maya as well.
  3. I'm going to be on this sailing with my husband and 3 of our friends. Going to be celebrating my 40th!
  4. Galveston is my home port (live up in Dallas), so we mainly drive in, so I can't necessarily speak to the best airport. Galveston really isn't that far from Houston though, only about 40 miles from Hobby Airport (HOU) to Royal Caribbean's terminal on Galveston. Still recommend you follow the normal advice Matt gives and fly in the day before to get yourself to the island, but a Lyft XL to get you from HOU to Galveston would only probably run you about $90-110 depending on your arrival time, so less than half of what you were quoted for that 1-day Enterprise rental. When we sail out of Galveston, we usually do our overnight stay at either the SpringHill Suites Galveston Island or the La Quinta that's right next door. Both are good accomodations that usually run about $120/night. PLENTY of good food options on the island both for dinner and for breakfast.
  5. Definitely true. My husband and I were gold members going into the pandemic. We're taking an extra 5 night cruise IN January specifically to get enough points to jump us up to Emerald, then our Alaska cruise in August will get us to Diamond. Admittedly all 3 cruises we took/are taking since the restart are in suites, so that gives us even bigger chunks of points at a shot right now. But I'm also reasonably sure there's quite a few folks taking full advantage of the 2x points to climb the C&A ladder.
  6. Like the others have said, I generally get my luggage tags and eDocs from my travel agent right at the 30 day mark. Personally I'd recommend those tag holders even for infrequent cruisers... they're so much better than trying to make the paper tags work on their own. Well worth the $10 to avoid the hassle.
  7. Morning everyone! Going to be heading out on Adventure of the Seas soon, and was planning on refreshing my memory on basic blackjack strategy. Does anyone know whether Royal's table rules hit or stand on a soft 17?
