  1. Having never been on a cruise, I'm curious what is a typical day at sea for the members of this forum.

What time do you get up?  Where do you have breakfast?  What's a typical morning activity?  Where do you eat lunch?  What's an afternoon activity?  Where do you prefer dinner?  What about evening activities?  What time do you finally collapse into bed?

A typical sea day for us is to get up around 08:00 and hit the Windjammer for breakfast then we hit the Gym for about 1 and a half hours followed by a good swim in the adult pool and then some chill time in the hot tubs  :) .

By now we are pretty hungry again so it's the Windjammer for lunch and then the afternoon is normally spent playing mini golf or flowrider and hitting the Royal Promenade for some shopping or as we men like to call it Torture .

We don't do the MDR much so for us it's Chops Grille or Giovannis maybe Johnny Rockets or Windjammer and then we spend most evenings watching a show or drinking in the Viking Lounge and always hit the Casino. We finally go to bed around Midnight to 01:00.

  2. Greetings and Salutations !!!

Never been on a cruise before and want to surprise my wife for our 30th wedding anniversary in Oct 2015.

It is soooooooooooo confusing to research which ship, understand the deck plans and the room categories.

I've heard horror stories where people thought they got a great deal only to find they were right below the disco or the restaurant or near the engines.

Anyway, I definitely want a balcony but I heard there are some rooms with a better balcony than others with a balcony.

What is the best way to find the best balcony?

A great way to check out rooms is to go on You Tube , a lot of people film their accommodation so it will give you a good idea of the layout and normally they will review the room at the same time.

  3. Y'all have me excited for that honey stung chicken. 65 day hype! Our first cruise I swear that the hamburgers and fries that first night in the late night snack bar in the solarium on the Enchantment were the best EVER! I guess that first day everything really does seem to taste better :).

And the best thing is that you can get it from Room Service 24/7

  4. HI Everyone, my fiance's parents have surprised our whole family and are taking us on Allure of the Seas on Dec 28 2014 during New Years Eve. I have always wanted to do this but because of the very high cost have never done it. I know Royal does special things on Holiday cruises but I am just wondering if anyone has been on a New Years cruise and knows maybe exactly what they do? Love to hear from everyone! - Stephanie

Hi Stephanie , I haven't cruised with RC over the New year but we have with other cruise lines and it was absolutely fantastic  :)  :) and I am guessing that RC does similar to the following. From around 21:00 we went to the pool deck for a party and when we got there it was fab , we were given hats and blowers and even some glow sticks and then danced to a live band under the stars. At around 23:45 we were all given Free Champagne to see in the new year and then just after midnight we had a disco till the early hours it was AWSOME.

Click this link and it will show you New Year on the Oasis which i'm guessing will be similar to the Allure https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_s3iIo0nTog

  5. I finally had a chance to try the hiney stung chicken last cruise thanks to the suggestions here....it was very good!

I like the variety and choices in the Windjammer. I usualy end up eating most of my meals there.

The Indian food is always great and was a pleasant surpirse on my first cruise with RCI. Had it pretty much every night for starters. Last cruise I took, was only there one night that I could find it.

I defn enjoy the salad bar there each evenings as well.

I agree Monctonguy the Windjammer has great choices and the quality is really good and like you we end up eating there a lot. In fact we only go MDR 1 evening and 1 lunch and the rest of the cruise is speciality restaurants or Windjammer.

Glad you like the Honey Stung Chicken  :) , i just wish they served it on more days and not just embarkation day  :(
