  1. Rome Airport is a mess when luggage is lost - however they are experienced to deliver the luggage to the first island you're sailing to. Second, at least european flights are getting more and more expensive, so book early! Third, arrive at least two days before. Rome is nice, enjoy your time there. Fourth, train options from Rome to Civitiavecchia are cheap, fast and reliable. There are several threads about this here.
  2. I once stayed in the Rosedale on Robson (outdated now) and for this august, we booked the Hilton. YMMV, but it's a good price we got (points), thinking of high season prices.
  3. That's true, Steve, but we are planning (and already have booked) a stay on the way to Kenai Fjord. The train is for us 4 just a little below 400$. That has to be calculated with the OW fee also.
  4. Expedia shows no availability for the one way rental. That's the major problem. At least, PL via Autoslash shows the Managers' special for 961$
  5. The Manager' special is the only option available.
  6. I tried Alaskatravel.com, they provide SUVs and OW-rentals. A small SUV is about 1,5k$ for 4 days - they work together with thrifty and overcharge every single item. Called Hertz: They are quite astonished, as not even they can quote any car on any date in 2023 in Anchorage. Except this suspicious manager's special without any further information. There's not even an eMail available for any of the two ANC stations. They assume, the franchise is down.
  7. Book them fast while on board. The free ones sell out quickly!
  8. Someone has an idea for car rental from ANC to Seward? We have the individual planned land portion before the cruise, and plan to return the car in Seward. Unfortunately, neither Hertz nor Thrifty (these two have offices in Seward) loaded their prices yet for end of july 23. Train or bus is no option, would be in the low 400s for party of 4. Right now, we plan to pick up the car in ANC, drive north to fairbanks and travel down with stops on the road (and Kenai Ford also) to Seward. Carotthat.
  9. Repricing is possible until final payment. Done often.
  10. We took an UBER to EWR, was reasonable priced for a family of 4 and without hassle. Around 35USD in August.
  11. You should see them in CP, offered as sightseeing trips and drop off at the airport. Quite pricey.
  12. I am with you twangster. First on CP it looked like BOGO Then, after picking this item, it looks like real one by one - the price was also told from the agent. BOGO price is different. The last agent seemed really competent, the system simply won't let him do it?
  13. Interesting, but noteworthy and sad detail for me: Had a DBP booked for myself, my +1 having a refreshment package (no alc drinker), booked today with sale price for her. As the price is good today, I cancelled my existing DBP online (was 73€/day) and called RCL to buy the DBP for me alone (as this is not possible online). First agent said, every guest travelling in the cabin has to buy the refreshment package if the Double feature for DBP is voided. Now, we are having a toddler and a little girl with us. I insisted on this rule only applying for adults, and she insisted on her opinion. No chance. So, HUACA. Next agent said, no problem (at all), BUT he was not able to add the single DBP for me with the sale price because it only applies to double bookings (as buy one get one with 50%). My CP did not state this condition for the price of 64€/day, but what should I do? So, my greed overwhelmed me and I got busted! What would you do now? Caro
  14. I think there were two emails - the one yesterday quietly announcing the Cyber Sale for member for cruises - actually, by calling in and repricing it, it was even 200€ cheaper then online. The RCL rep also said, it states only as cyber sale promo term. The other, second eMail is for the CP Sale, which should start today - I also hope for the DBP. Interestingly, how rare the prices for the cruises really dropped, we are only 5 folks here?
  15. Today the cyber Sale started for members, 24h prior as to the public. On our cruise, next year august to Alaska (southbound), the Cruise Planner items were not really cheaper, the cruise price but dropped for 600€! About 12% less as the original price, when booked months ago. Great!
  16. The rep was quite sercretly about the conditions. It did not look to me like the UK DPB discount we know since several months though...
  17. Yesterday a CS rep told me, since oct 17th there are different prices when booking drink packages (and he did not confirm or decline other activities etc) with the cruise planner and by calling them. He unfortunately did not tell me which one would be cheaper, but I assume, calling them would be more expensive. Caro
  18. I found this combination https://chilkootcharters.com/white-pass-summit-rail-bus-2/ It's the train to Fraser, BC and returning with a mini bus to Skagway - or vice versa. They want 145$ - a real good price, as the train would be alone 134. Did anybody ever use them or do this tour?
  19. TSA at EWR was in our case a mess. Even with TSA Pre, the family line was dooming for us (kids do not have TSA Pre). Waited too long for a very short line. But anyway - you should be able to do it - fingers crossed. Be sure to contact guest services at the cruise beginning to opt in for earliest departure group!
  20. You'd be off the ship latest 9:15, if you want, earlier for sure. Don't forget, you cannot check bags prior than 3hours before departure... Sometimes it's 4 hours, but YMMV
  21. Alaska cruise August 2023: No sale whatever, every item is just regularly priced. This is going to be pricey
  22. We are right now planning the DIY tour (6 nights) before the southbound cruise next august. Trains and buses are absolutely worth a consideration, but they are way expensive for a family with two kids. Train from ANC to Seward would be in the 300s for us. Fairbanks can be reached with Alaska Airlines (and for sure an AA feeder flight). My real problem now is the rental car, as no company is pricing or showing them for august 2023. Any advice here? btw: Uber is often not available in some regions of Alaska... Carotthat
