  1. My last waiter ..who was quite bad asked me twice to rate him out of 10..and then waited for the answer. It was awkward I tol him he was a 10 just so he would buzz off. Didn't stop him asking again though. I find the survey prompt and the almost begging for a 10 to be uncomfortable and it shows how much pressure they are under to get top marks. Originally I was going to give him a low score reflective of his service but then I felt bad so ended up giving him a 10. I don't want to be part of the reason he looses his job, but at the same time I shouldn't have felt guilty about filling in a standard feedback form.
  2. Bit disappointing, the idea of paying for a DJ to blast out tunes around a pool all day is not my thing, and I can get that for free at the main Lagoon pool, so not sure what the point of this is now. I'd have thought about paying if it was going to be a more relaxing atmosphere. Think I will stick to my 'free' sun lounger on South Beach.
  3. It was brought in for all countries that take part in the visa waiver program not just Europe lots of others take part too. Normally it's countries the USA have good diplomatic relationships with and are thought of as safe USA cbp run your name through all its databases before making a decision on an approval. It actually helps keep both aircraft and the USA safe and prevents people who would be denied entry getting on an aircraft in the first place...saving USA tax dollars with the mess that can create. This is a good thing for everyone the cost is minimal and helps keep people and aircraft safe.
  4. Please don't call it a visa it's not!. A visa is something that requires giving your passport to an embassy. This is an electronic approval to visit the Schengen area. It's a copy of something the USA has required of countries in the visa waiver program for many many years. Canada has the same system as will UK when it can get it's act together ( probably never or after £2 bill overspend) Calling it a visa is highly misleading.
  5. UK pound prices include the 18% which they have to do under uk law. USD prices are before the 18% is added. It's showing in the final total. Last year they did run a UK promotion for £43 per day but that ended and wasent renewed
  6. I think you also have to weigh in the hassle if you loose your passport on shore against keeping it in a locked safe. You are probably more likely to loose it than to run into an issue where you fail to make it bs k on the ship. Both will give you major hassles
  7. Tax refunds are only for physical items that are exported out of the EU, you cannot get a refund on any goods or services purchased inside the EU unless you are exporting them, you have to show the refund form and the goods to customs in the airport to get the refund.
  8. $7 - hardly a stretch and will make borders safer and should help avoid people getting denied entry and having to be deported. USA has been operating its ESTA for quite some years and it's seen as a success. The UK also has plans to introduce this system, however knowing the way the UK works it will be delayed over budget and not fit for purpose when its operating!
  9. I am not sure what airline industry you work for but the USA has required those in the visa waver programme (including all of Europe and UK) to apply for an ESTA and get approval before you can step foot on a flight to the USA- its been that way for 8-10 years or so The ESTA just went up to $21 pp having been introduced at $14. Any person 'working in the airline industry' would know this https://esta.cbp.dhs.gov/
  10. Doc HQ was accepted in port Canaveral this week with no issues. £19.50 for an internet based observed test
  11. For a USA Cruise I had same thing, they rejected the printed certificate with the QR code no matter how i tried to upload it. I uploaded the card that you got at the vax centre- even though it states its not proof of vaccination, and that was accepted! i will take both the card and the certificate to the port anyway. I can only assume the people validating it are in the USA and are not used to non USA certificates. They do a manual check so I don't think it makes any difference.
  12. Do you think it will be ok to use an antigen test with a video consultation from the UK? Tests in the UK are really easy to buy, and the test I am looking at is accepted for Travel into the USA. I was thinking of buying an additional one and taking it in the USA just before my cruise, would RCCL accept it? It's done via a video call with a nurse or doctor. I don't want the stress of looking for a test in the Orlando (where I am staying) area if I can help it.
  13. my 3 night sailing from Rome to Barcelona seems not to be loaded, does that mean it will not happen or have they not loaded everything yet?
  14. Ok thanks, lots to consider then. I suppose if there was 8 of you the price is a bit easier to swallow, if people didn't buy them they wouldn't charge those prices! The beach club is $340 at the moment for 2, which is a bit out of my range I think, but will keep an eye on it.
  15. Thanks I admit paying that to me is a bit Crazy, but its a one off treat, I will keep looking to see if price drop. I was shocked at the price of the cabanas, do people really pay that much for them?
