  1. I swear if I had a dollar for everybody complaining about Murphy, especially from Florida. ? He's fine. And doing well, thank you. As for the port, nobody's been popping off claiming it's closed or won't open or whatever. They've simply been patiently awaiting cruise ships being able to sail, communicating with those involved as needed, and mostly not turning themselves into media whores.
  2. Just to avoid some likely confusion... there's no changes to the cost of the Bahamas Health Visa yet for vaccinated travelers from the US/Canada ($40) or from other countries ($50), or costs for unvaccinated travelers from US/Canada or other countries, which vary from $40-$70 depending on length of stay and the country you're from.

  12. I wonder if it's conceivable to work on ways to get a ship in and out in half the time, and thus double the capacity at each pier where they can accomplish that. Or even have evening/nighttime boarding.
  13. You cannot currently submit the application until 2 weeks prior to your arrival date. They changed it a few weeks ago because they were getting too many applications for further into the future. Before the allowance for proof of vaccination, you could not submit an application earlier than 5 days prior to your trip because you had to include testing results no older than that.
  14. Is there room for anything more anyplace? I mean, if Disney came in after an MSC/Royal Caribbean deal is there a place for them to build their own terminal or would they be limited to working out a deal to share an existing one?

  16. COVID-19 Status - The Bahamas Bahamas Travel Health Visa This site has recently been updated with clearer instructions for vaccinated and unvaccinated applicants. If you are 18 or older, you create a profile and submit the application. If you are 17 or under, you include your application under your parent/guardians profile and application.
  17. Sales and marketing efforts DECREASING on a Royal Caribbean sailing? Ha!
  18. Or if you aren't vaccinated, you're restricted to your stateroom for the entire sailing. If you are vaccinated, you have access to the rest of the ship.

  20. Odyssey of the Seas has sailings scheduled from Haifa, Israel through the 10/22/2021 sailing, after which the next scheduled sailing appears as 11/15/2021 from Ft. Lauderdale, FL. The sailings from Haifa are currently open only for vaccinated residents of Israel (and those under 18 who have a negative test). Jewel of the Seas has sailings scheduled from Limassol, Cyprus through the 10/23/2021 sailing, after which the next scheduled sailing appears as 11/15/2021 from Miami, FL. The sailings on Jewel of the Seas are open to all with proof of vaccination (and those under 18 who have a negative test), the only requirement is being able to get into Cyprus, which will open to vaccinated travelers from the United States and a number of other countries on May 10, 2021. Harmony of the Seas is expected to be sailing out of Europe, probably Spain, but Royal Caribbean has not announced anything publicly yet. It is expected to be for vaccinated travelers only (and those under 18 who have a negative test). Anthem of the Seas is sailing out of Southampton, England through the 10/9/2021 sailing, after which the next scheduled sailing appears as 11/7/2021 from Cape Liberty, NJ. Currently these sailings are open only to vaccinated UK residents (and those under 18 who have a negative test). Quantum of the Seas is sailing out of Singapore. It is open to Singapore residents only, though has no vaccination requirements, just negative test requirements. Adventure of the Seas has sailings scheduled from Nassau, The Bahamas through the 9/11/2021 sailing, after which the next scheduled sailing appears as 10/29/2021 from Galveston, TX. These sailings are open to all vaccinated travelers (and those under 18 who have a negative test). The Bahamas is open to all vaccinated travelers (and those under 18 who have a negative test). Vision of the Seas has sailings scheduled from Bermuda through the 8/28/2021 sailing, after which the next scheduled sailing appears as 9/5/2021 from San Juan, PR. These sailings are open to all vaccinated travelers (and those under 18 who have a negative test). Bermuda is open to all vaccinated travelers (and those under 18 who have a negative test), but you should check for various exceptions and other requirements directly.
  21. Not much of a test if it's at 10% capacity, and using vaccinated testers when the intent is not to require vaccination on the cruises for which they're being tested. This whole exercise has turned into a joke and demonstrates the incompetence of the CDC being involved in operations. Just look at the highly-forgeable CDC COVID-19 vaccination record, for instance. The longer they keep up this nonsense, the less I'm going to be inclined to trust anything they do. I'm sure they don't really care, but that level of confidence being undermined is something they should be concerned with.
  22. I pretty much agree. The other interesting thing is that the entirety of the documents regarding attempting to sail under the conditional sail order did not even begin to appear until a few weeks AFTER the suit against HHS/CDC was filed by Florida (Phased Approach to the Resumption of Cruise Ship Passenger Operations - OMB 0920-1335). Further, the CDC/government response to the motion for preliminary injunction starts out with a diatribe about "ooh, woe is us, for after 6 months of this and 6 months of that, NOW the state files a lawsuit against our esteemed institution that's just trying to protect Americans?" Talk about disingenuous garbage in a filing to the court?! (31_047022965703_MemorandumInOpposition.pdf (2150.com)) Personally I believe DeSantis' anti-vaccine-proof stance is political and counter to everything that could help get us out of the pandemic faster. But the lawsuit is something that should be pursued, but should be coming from the cruise lines AND affected states. Not sure how it coming just from the states is going to work out. At the very least it's forced the CDC to finish the lip service they started with the conditional sail order, but honestly reading through that is just a non-starter to cruise under such "guidelines." They are not in any way realistic under current circumstances, especially under a mostly-fully-vaccinated environment aboard ships. (For reference, I keep a copy of the official docket updated with most of the relevant documents downloaded and freely available: Florida v. HHS, CDC (2150.com))
  23. The latest CDC guidance/letters specifically call out NOT using activities from non-US sailings in any way to show the US sailings could be safe. They really are just smoking crack and making jokes in their office, instead of actually doing anything constructive or caring about the end results moreso than it being their crazy rules being followed to get there. It'd be amusing if someone could take the time to rewrite the entire package as if it were to apply to airlines or to hotels and see how ridiculous it comes out sounding.
  24. Yeah, nobody holds their breath for Royal IT to accomplish anything successfully... this has been like this for a couple of the 14 sailings since they came out on 3/24. Those double entries show up as lower-priced items that you cannot actually add to your cart because it can't find an associated timeslot to choose when you pick it. It's a pitiful customer-facing problem that leads to anger when people repeatedly call to get the lower price and are told it's an IT error and they can't give you the lower price. There's a handful of other stupid things, too. I'm sure the real reason they're not fixing this stuff is they're about ready to replace the Cruise Planner implementation with a new one. Of course it'll have completely different messed up problems of its own.
