  1. Cruise fares for transatlantic are a good bargain if you book just after the dates come out. We were monitoring a Brilliance Tampa to Harvich, England cruise, and it went up in price one week after by $100 per person. The rates did nothing but raise in rates after. Glad we booked it early!..... There was nothing extra during the 13 nights sailings except for some extra dining menu's and many Crown & Anchor members. Overflow happy hour lounges were provided for members. Some cruisers do nothing but transatlantic sailings each year. As Matt has mentioned, the re-positioning cruises are a lot of fun and are a good value!.... .
  2. Our first cruise was in the early 1980's. We brought our family with us. Upon boarding the ship, a ship employee would escort you to your cabin. The cabin came with a beautiful fruit basket. Our family (non-cruisers) were able to stay on board for the day to enjoy lunch along with the activities... Cruisers were also provided with a cruise name list of all the passengers... We attended wine and cheese parties at no extra charge. It was a sit down tasting and you learned about the different wines and what foods to pair them with, etc. There was a buffet food spread to complement the different wines.. It was a very informative session......
  3. We have booked many cruises on board the ship. I would say its 50/50% chance that they will ask you if you wish to keep the new booking with the previously travel agent. They look at the cruise that you are on, and assume that you will continue to give credit to that agent or Royal, etc.... You need to tell them you do not wish the new booking to go to an agent. The Cruise sales person will ask you to sign a paper..
  4. Ahoy Mateys... We sailed Alaska the last week of August, and the first week in September. Our average temps were a damp misty 55 degrees. The ports seem to be in the smokey clouds. We did have one sunny day of 70 degrees. It was the end of the season for the locals so there were a lot of sales...
  5. Ahoy Mateys... We started sailing on Royal in the early 80's. We are within an hour from a cruise port, so it was nothing for us to sail the weekend, and return back early Monday morning. We would then drive straight to work. We sailed the Legend of the Seas this past April, 2015. We had 699 points before the sailing. The Loyalty Ambassador Sergii Kilmon was new, and did not offer to much helpful information on what to expect. We were presented with a stratum replica at the top tier event. Pictures were taken with the Cruise Director and the Loyalty Ambassador. No other acknowledgements were made for the 15 days on our sailing. Sergii did say that we were not entitled to any Pinnacle benefits until the following cruise because we only had 699 points coming on. He could not provide a list of Pinnacle benefits to expect on the next cruise. Sergii did have us fill out a paper to apply for the Pinnacle name pin. Both the Stratum and the Pinnacle pins arrived in the mail within 30 days after our sailing. We have met other Pinnacles that were treated very well on their milestone, and treated to many extras including dinner at the specialty restaurants, etc. I suppose it depends on the ship that you are sailing on. Our next cruise is not until October 18th. We will be officially Pinnacles then. A word of advice to all cruisers. Royal have been having computer problems for a while now.... Check your # of cruises and the # of points often as well as after each sailing. The computers are subtracting points after a sailing instead of adding them. The Crown & Anchor dept then asks for proof of that sailing, If you don't catch the error right away....... Thanks Sulross for starting this thread. Hopefully we can get a better idea of what to expect on other ships when one reaches the special Pinnacle milestone!...
