Jerel got a reaction from OrionJus in Canaveral meet up on Dec 11th?
I'm sailing into Port Canaveral on December 11th (12-9) and was wondering if anyone would like to do a meet up?
If you live in the area it would be a good excuse to meet up and talk cruising over a drink or meal. I was thinking Grills or Fish Lips but am open to ideas.
So far it's my wife Jessica and I, Stephanie (AGSLC5) and her fiance Jeremy.
The more the merrier, we don't need to know each other to have a good time.

It's basically this giant scavenger hunt within your team. On Oasis it was in Studio B. There are 6ish couples who are team leads, and the cruise director shouts out tasks--things to find in the audience, or things to accomplish. For example, 6 ladies bras, or 3 shoelaces tied together. The team leads have a card with their number on it, and as soon as the task is done/found, they run up to the cruise director with the object and the card, wave it in his face. The fastest teams get more points.

It's hilarious and fun--it's fast paced and I highly recommend going. ADULT RATED!

I finally told my wife about our anniversary cruise in Oct. Yesterday was our half anniversary and so I had a tee shirt made with a picture of Serenade of the Seas on the front and on the back was 2017 and the dates and names of our ports of call.
    She completely lost her mind!
I'm glad I don't have to keep this secret any longer and sneak around on Royal Caribbean blog! :D

Yes but that takes all the fun and confusion out of it :)
Sounds like MKSglitz went on quite the journey before finding the right cruise, sometimes the journey is the exciting part ;)

OMG!  Trying to book a January 2019 San Juan  Southern Caribbean cruise was an absolute nightmare!  I patiently waited for the 2018-2019 itinerary to come out.  I book way ahead of time so that I can get the room that I want.  I waited the week of March 6th only to find out that cruises from San Juan would not be released until March 26th.  I checked my email and the website everyday hoping not to miss the exclusive bookings for the C&A members.  I perused the website the week of March 27th daily and on Tuesday, I noticed that the 2019 San Juan Southern Caribbean itinerary was out (no thanks to any email indicating the exclusive C&A booking).  The Jewel of the Seas was the only ship departing from San Juan for the month of Jan., Feb., and March of 2019.  I called RCCL and I asked about the Adventure and was told that it would be sailing out of San Juan too but it wasn't listed yet .  I replied that it wasn't listed b/c another agent said that it wouldn't even be in the area. After checking and rechecking, the RCCL agent told that I was correct and that the Jewel of the  Seas was the only ship deployed to San Juan at the time.  This was on March 29th.  I booked the Jewel of the Seas for a January 20, 2019 departure from San Juan to the Southern Caribbean.  Done!  Now on Saturday April 1st, I went to the RCCL blog just to see if anyone else ran into any confusing info too when I ran across Matt's blog that the 2018-2019 intinerary was out for the Freedom of the Seas.  And there it was, the Freedom was going to be sailing from San Juan Jan 20, 2019!  I thought, could it be that both the Jewel and the Freedom would both be in port and leaving the same day????  So back on the phone with RCCL to try to untangle this confusing info.  Was told that Matt's info was correct and the Freedom was being deployed to San Juan and cruising the Southern Caribbean the winter of 2019.  The agent said that the info was released to the  RCCL agents just 72 hours prior.  Now I find out that he Jewel was  set to sail on Jan.19th and not the 20th of 2019!!!!  My entire point to this story is that YOU WOULD THINK THAT ALL THE KINKS WOULD BE OUT WAY BEFORE RELEASING FUTURE DEPLOYMENT SCHEDULES!!!!

PS.  I am happily booked on the Freedom of the Seas for a January 27, 2019 cruise to the Southern Caribbean.  AMEN!!!!

Sharing a positive experience on Cococay.  We walked to "south beach" (formerly called Barefoot Beach)...because it was considered to be a 'quiet' beach.  What a great day we had.  There was a nice cabana section of private cabanas next to us, a ton of lounge chairs, and a bar. Beach was lovely. There were probably only 20 people max in our area.  I heard from others on the ship that the rest of Cococay was 'very crowded'.  We loved South Beach for the day. The only potential downside was that we wound up skipping the provided lunch because we didn't want to leave our spot and travel to the picnic area. This wasn't a problem, we just had another frozen drink from the bar and ate at Windjammer back on the ship when we got back.

In terms of paying off a cruise, I prefer to leave $2-500 on the tab for closer to sailing, just in case the price does drop.  It makes getting an adjustment far easier if there is still a balance.

Considering how far off your cruise is, I'm wondering if fully paying it off in the next few months makes sense. If a promo comes along that reduces the cost of your cruise, and you've fully paid it off, there's no way to reduce your final bill since it's already paid off. I think I read elsewhere that if that happens, Royal just gives you the difference as onboard credit, and this may be acceptable in your case since you want OBC pre-applied for your trip.

I kind of look at that the same way I look at overpaying my taxes and getting a refund -- that's an interest-free loan you can't redeem until your trip, and in the meantime you might want / need that money. Might be better to hold off fully paying off the trip and putting that OBC money on your account until just a few months out, rather than over a year out.

I don't think it's the stick that is hated; it's the user. Some people used them in inconsiderate ways and don't pay attention to others around them.

I blame high speed internet. I think we should go back to 300 baud dialup modems so we can really appreciate delayed gratification. While we're at it, we should bring back rotary phones; that should slow things down.

Not really a tip bit more of a comment/plea.  Please people, if you are able, use the stairs (especially going down) and leave the elevators for those that truly require them.  Besides keeping the elevators less crowded, you can burn off that third dessert you had at dinner.  ;)

Depending upon where your room is located, the forward elevators are often far less busy than the aft elevators.  Of course, if your stateroom is located aft then it's not logical to go all the way forward to use the elevators....but if you have a choice, the forward ones are usually less busy,

I find the worst time for elevators is immediately after the muster drill.  If you cannot place yourself in a position to "sprint" to the elevators at the end of the muster drill (beat the crowd), I recommend you go and find a place to cool your jets and wait for that mania to pass.

Other obvious times for busy elevators is during disembarkation at ports.  If your schedule permits, I would recommend waiting at least 1 hour after the ship is cleared for disembark before trying to leave.  If you cannot wait that long, remember that sometimes it is best to board an elevator that is going up even though you want to go down (or vice versa) b/c when things are very crowded, any spot on the elevator will do in a pinch, knowing that it will eventually go where you want to go.

So, I have booked a cruise on Symphony's very first sailing out of Barcelona on April 21st 2018 (wish it was 2017).
Looking at drinks packages, when I put it into my shopping cart, it says "Deluxe Package Special Offer Non Caribbean".   I know that I am not sailing in the Caribbean, so what else does this mean?  Are prices going to be different just because its an European cruise?
(Of course they are.  I just had that thought after I wrote that.  It makes perfect sense, but why do they need to differentiate it on the purchase?)

Another reason why they shouldn't use the Voom name for all ships, it just cheapens the respect that the Voom name had.

Jerel got a reaction from Katelynnhab in Another "included" perk being removed......
I dont like it because it further discredits the term 'Included' by adding yet another exception. I do really think this will improve quality, but I doubt that's their intention, more of a byproduct in my opinion.

THIS IS CROWD CONTROL (sorry for yelling).

People order the entire kitchen. Not sure how this dish will taste? Order it in addition to your five plates and find out. If you don't like it, oh well.
I'm not trying to shame anyone, I do it to, but this creates an insane amount of work for the staff. They can't just keep running crazy amounts of food all over the ship at all times, they also make THOUSANDS of meals a day aside from this service. That's a pretty big deal when you think of it.

I am upset about the charge but also understand that this service is being abused. By adding this cost it will help maintain the crowds at a manageable level.

I tend to try and persuade people to cruise, in Canada it's not as common of a thing as it is in the US. I see many misconceptions about cruising.
When I tell people 'everything is included', I hate having to say 'except this' or 'doesn't include that'.
The more exceptions there are the less people trust the price.

This is common, especially on other lines, and pretty much never in the US.  Look up Pullmantur itineraries in Souther America and you'll see continuous examples of this.

    1) Yup, cruises don't need to be so closed.  Busses nor planes are like this.  Your direct flight is just one leg of someone else's trip.
    2) This is just like any other disembarkation day.  Consecutive cruisers are supposed to get off for a moment, everyone else gets off for good.  If someone is left on board you can get they'll start paging them, checking their cabin, etc.  Nothing really different here.
    3) There are some sales and logistics advantages to this - if the market demands multiple legs of this itineraries.  If the demand isn't there it only become more challenging to sell.  In the US the archaic laws we have (Jones Act, Passenger Vessel Services Act, etc) make this type of thing extra difficult, and frankly, the demand isn't there, b/c it's very rare to see a sailing out of the US that visits the US.  The exceptions are FL cruises with calls to San Juan, NYC/NJ sailings that stop in Port Canaveral, CA sailings going to AK (and sometimes stopping in OR), and Eastern Seaboard cruises that stop in Bar Harbour and such.

I think I've seen a couple of itineraries like those before when I was just scanning for possible itineraries of interest for the future; as Jerel and you guessed, it's to allow people to embark / disembark at a port of their choice along an itinerary that loops through the same set of ports. I want to say it's limited to two ports on the itineraries I saw, not necessarily at the "ends" of the itinerary. I guess it's a variant on that "open jaw" cruise format I had asked about on another thread.

Wish I could remember which cruise line it was where I had seen that. Maybe an RCI Scandinavian tour, or another Mediterranean trip.
