I tried Carnival 20 years ago and hated it, vowed to never sail it again. But I keep hearing the food is so much better and the casino is very forgiving so a 4n at under a $1k for three people with $50obc seemed okay........especially if all my plans work out on my Freedom sailing in the casino 😭🤣

I noticed the to-go shakes are in a smaller cup at JR. But too much milkshake is also not good imho. I am madder that the cost to eat at Jr is almost $20 now.

Also, the hair thing, ewwwww 🤢.

But I tend to notice that the college-aged youths seem to be far more manner-able than the pre/teen youths. Thankfully I avoid sailing during spring break and the summer, I hate to hear them when they play their drinking games.

I just booked a carnival offer.  I’ve only cruised with them a couple of times, so surprised to get a casino offer from them.  It was too good to past up.  It’s tied to some famous casino guy. I got a free balcony, free drinks in casino for two people, and a $1,000 free play in casino.  We own carnival stock, so $100 to spend onboard. It’s on the Carnival Celebration ship.  I’m not a fan of carnival or their food.

    🤣😆😅

The tortilla/nacho type chips would be the test of this! I don't think the ziplock would keep them completely fresh for a month so if they are stale or have gone bad, then they've probably been there a while. Also, would a genie have put nacho chips in a bag in a drawer like that?

Ok, can’t be my stash…didn’t store anything but the lays potato chips.  You think someone found my stash then added to it!  Lol

we found this in the living room of the suite while unpacking the suitcases!!!

Oh my, I really really think they were originally the chips I hid, and forgot about them!  The plan was to split between the kids for their airport wait, but more chips appeared later that day, that I ended up using.   But that was way back to January 19th, certainly they can’t be the same ones!

As you can see from the earlier post. We all met up on the boardwalk while we finished our portion of the muster drill. We all headed to our stateroom to let our friends drop their bags etc and to let them see the room. They were quite impressed. The boarding process for them has “ruined” gen pop sailing for them. Their part cruise was a boardwalk balcony on Wonder. They aren’t sure if they can go back.

We then headed off to explore the ship together. The kids were registered for adventure ocean, and we showed them the other suites areas.

We also started to make use of our beverage package and treated our friends to some drinks courtesy of our diamond vouchers.

While relaxing in the suite lounge, Dan remarked that he was really impressed by the response from the concierges. When he got the email, he responded with their dinner reservation and show requests which were all immediately taken care of. I think we have officially inducted new members into the suite snob club🤣

Great idea to treat your friends using your diamond vouchers.  I would of done that, but Old White Woman doesn’t have any friends.

  5. Today, three did a snorkeling excursion, and the rest of us  just walked around. Ordered pizza to the room, and some of us slept a little. The weather is beautiful.  MJ has walked us off for excursions.  Last night we did the comedy show. Grown ass kids wanted to sit front, where we sat with our popcorns and drinks.
We ate in Jamie’s last night. It’s my least favorite restaurant, but better than the windjammer, which had a long time to enter at lunch yesterday.  I’m still trying to digest waiting in line to eat there!

Let us know how the golf cart rental goes.  I've been thinking about doing this.

Half time report on golf cart.  To check it out, don’t follow their directions, but take the shore excursion exit. They are located around the corner from that. Red shirt golf carts.  We got the new 6 seater golf cart.  They will hold your cart for two and half hours from docking time. No paying before. Now, we paid $120 for the day. Much cheaper options.  We walked the last time, and I’m a walker, and found it tiring.  We drove around and parked at Crazy Lobster, where chairs and a drink is free. There’s a small swimming area and lots of shopping. We came back to the ship for lunch. Had to park back at Red shirts. Next crew just headed back out on the cart. For the price, would be a lot cheaper to take a taxi. Would I rent again, no, but fun one time. There’s just nothing to see here. My son’s snorkeling was canceled when they showed. They said rough waters, but it’s hot, sunny and no waves. Thinking not enough people paid for excursion. Genie rebooked them for Cozumel. Perk of having a genie!

  7. MJ, once again, kicked  it out of the park!  Pre cruise, I requested to sit  front center at the ice slow, with buttered popcorn and blankets.  We had it all.  Yes, we did look a bit bougie,  but I’m old, so I can do and look however I want. The small perks for having wrinkles. MJ is really intuitive about knowing the line between being there but still allowing privacy. I think that’s the hardest thing about being a genie!

The weather is promising to be much better today, it’s definitely hadn’t been “get a tan” weather.  Some of us stayed in the suite hot tub last night. It’s opened 24 hours, which was surprising. The suite deck is really nice. Royal never did sell the pass tot four of the beds up there. Now opened for free.

We are in Costa Maya today. Two are going snorkeling, one is staying back to study, the rest of us have rented a six seated golf cart to explore.  Casino is closed.
The trip has been so wonderful. We definitely are going to do a star class again.   Once again, Im writing on my cell phone and not proofreading, so excuse all the mistakes!

  8. I was really surprised about having to cancel the night before dinner. It just started with our cruise.  I don’t think it will last!
Today, we had a wonderful breakfast on our balcony that started with a hiccup. It rained last night which left our balcony pretty much flooded. MJ had the room steward clear the water pretty darn good.  We went to the monkey and sloth excursion today. Had drizzle rain the whole time, but with a nice temperature, it turned out good.  It’s not been a sunny trip so far, but nice temperatures!   Tonight we eat at 150 then the ice show.
Our room holds the eight of us well, especially to play games as a family. MJ really shines handling a large crowd. We have done tons of laundry every day. Our room steward has been personable and does the room well.

  9. We used Galveston Limo to take the eight of us from the Airport Marriott to the port.  The van was new and really comfortable.

Here’s a surprise. We just git into Honduras, and the casino is open for slots!  Lots of people last night were betting $10 and $20 a pull.  Saw a couple of $2,000 winners, which is pretty sad for the high bets!  I’m doing ok, no big losses yet, but there’s still days to make up for that!  I’ll write more later, and I’m on my cell phone, not proofreading!

  10. Well shoot, posted a long blog, and it never made it to the page!  Sorry, it turns out this is a repeat.

I hosted a slot pull the first sea day where 100 people showed. Unreal!  We ended up breaking even, but had so much fun. We didn’t realize our genie (MJ) was there taking pictures and a video.  I added prizes, one for the tackiest shirt.

We ate in CK the first night  steak was good.  Service was good, except I asked for a can coke, where I was told I could only get fountain coke, because the bartenders were sleeping.  What the heck.   When another server asked how the meal was I told him my coke was flat.  He appeared with a can coke.

The weather was low 50’s at boarding.  First sea day it was a little chilly.  Second sea day was low 80’’s with occasional showers.  This morning our balcony is flooded after heavy rain thru the night.  Getting that fixed for we can have a late breakfast  out there.  We had breakfast out there yesterday and it was wonderful.
First day two of card’s wouldn’t work.  MJ fixed immediately.  Our safe was broken  MJ fixed immediately.  Love not having to go down to service desk.
    (I’ll be right back)

  11. Hubby and kids are playing phase ten, waiting to go to Hibachi for dinner. Last  night was chops, and first night CK.  Service was good in both places. We ate at CK for lunch today. Fool sons asked the waiter if they could have something from chops delivered there for lunch. Answer was no.
I did have a “what the heck” moment the first night in CK. I wanted a can coke and was told the “bartenders were sleeping” and only had fountain coke. Next guy asked how things were going, and I told him the coke was flat. He came back with a can coke.

lt was low 50’s when we boarded the ship.  First sea day was nice but windy. Everyone in our group wore pants. The aqua show did take place. Today, the second sea day, was 82 degrees and a bit cloudy, with a short rain shower. Still nice comfortable weather. We ate outside at the Mexican restaurant.

Casino has been really crowded, and I don’t have to mortgage our house yet, so things are good.  I hosted the slot pull for our Facebook group. We had 100 people, which was amazing. We ended up even. I gave out prizes for the high scorers, and one for the tackiest shirt.  It turned out to be the best slot pull ever!  Our genie, MJ, donated two bottle of wine, and the coolest bottle opener. I’ll post a picture of it.

MJ has been so attentive, but still giving us space. He has stopped in a couple of times today to update us on the plan. He showed up at our slot pull (didn’t see him) and sent pictures and a video of it. That was special!  He really “listens” to you. He is outgoing and personable!  So far, it’s been the best genie cruise!

    I’ll post more later.
