  1. Yeah 2.6k is quite a lot. For the most part, other than a few things and the genie itself, most of the Star class perks can be technically purchased.
  2. Even if all SC cabins are sold out, you will still get the option to bid for an upgrade, in case anyone canceled at the last minute, or unfortunately got a positive covid result. Of course, the chances of it is quite slim. I would suggest looking how much a straight upgrade would be and decide from there is you’re really keen on star class. Sometimes, it’s only a few hundred more than what you would have bid, especially since it’s still some time to your sailing
  3. @oldsoul Glad you enjoyed the live blog. I too am hoping that the situation improves in Jan and there is less chance of cancellations or heightened measures. Anyway, there are definitely benefits to upgrading to Star. The genie was indispensable because she helped us slot in a lot of things into the short 3N sailing. In fact, I felt like there was too much to do and too little time. On my upcoming 4N sailing, I will definitely be taking a slower time. That being said though, you have brought up a few points. Firstly, yes the loft suites are to the aft of the ship. We returned to our room quite a bit on the sailing so it is a noticeable walk if you’re doing it often. If you plan to mainly leave the room and not return until the end of day, it won’t be an issue. My mum too has some mobility issues and most likely similar to your parents. Can climb stairs and walk, but best to be in moderation. Because of that, my parents did take the sofa bed. It’s definitely comfy enough. I’ve slept in a few sofa beds over the years and it’s definitely one of, if not, the best sofa bed I’ve tried so I won’t worry about that. As for providing a wheelchair, I’m not too sure on that. They can give your wheelchair assistance but I’m not sure if you can borrow 1 from them. This is RCL’s special needs form if you want it. I would suggest checking with them. https://www.royalcaribbean.com/sgp/en/resources/guest-special-needs
  4. From my cruise back in March, only Star class was given option to check in at the earliest time of 2 regardless of the check in time you managed to get. Other than that it’s a first come first serve basis
  5. Eagerly following along. I was on Star class 3N sailing in march and wondering how different the 4N sailing would be and if anything has changed since then.
  6. I was supposed to be going on Voyager too but alas, it's not meant to be. On the bright side, I can now book another sailling on Quantum
  7. As of right now, all healthcare workers, airport staff as well as some sectors of essential workers are vaccinated. The elderly were vaccinated in this same batch, with incremental vaccinations rolling out for younger age groups. We’re currently in the process of vaccinating individuals 45 and up. But the aim currently is to have all eligible be fully vaccinated by the end of the year Based on google, that accounts for around 22% of our population fully vaccinated as of now
  8. Saw an update from Singapore Cruise Society. https://www.facebook.com/100045283783712/posts/307902814062509/?d=n Seems quantum will update guests in the next 24 hours. World dream has already released their new measures that seem a little severe, mainly the suspension of dine in options. This is most likely in line with local laws on land now suspending dine in too. Since you don’t wear a mask going into the pool, it seems like the pool will be closed too from that they have written.
  9. Thankfully, no. Mainly, it started from the hospital, and from there spread to various people. The bad thing about living in such a small country, is that once it starts spreading, no where in the country is really safe since anyone can travel from one side of the country to the other in around an hour. It is mildly concerning that the spread was from someone already vaccinated, but that is to be expected with any vaccine, especially one still so new.
  10. Well, in the grand scheme of things, it’s nowhere near what’s happening elsewhere in the world, but to us, we went from 0 local transmissions for months to double digits daily, with new clusters forming all around the country. Maybe partly because we have been experiencing a very Low number of cases, is that many measures were no longer implemented or as strictly enforced. The governments’s just trying to stop the further spread before we go in full lockdown again
  11. Based on my Singapore sailing, upon being seated, the wait staff immediately bring you water, so you can remove the mask. We were not required to put the mask on between courses. Basically, get seated, as long as some item for consumption has been placed in front of you, the mask can come off until the end of the meal.
  12. So, Singapore has been having a slow increase in our locally transmitted cases of Covid-19. As such, the government has just tightened some measures in regards to gatherings and events. Here a short excerpt from a local news article. If cruises do decrease capacity to 25%, I wonder what will become of the guest already booked. It’s coming to the school holidays here, and I’m assuming cruises at this time would be pretty much fully booked. I don’t think Royal has mentioned anything yet, but change may be on the horizon
  13. This is similar to the one they used during the Singapore sailings, my guess it is not changed at all. The actual protocols on the ship might differ though, since there should be a different government requirement
  14. Based on my trip from Singapore, while it is convenient to have everyone have the app, it is not completely needed. At boarding, they only required 1 person to show all the set sail passes. If the place required each person to hold their own, a simple screenshot should suffice. As for emuster, we found the app to be buggy in the sense that it didn’t actually register that you’ve watch the video. We ended up doing it on the Stateroom TV. You don’t need the app for reporting to your station, only your seapass. They can tell whether you’ve watched the video or not. I would say the only thing that the other members of my party used the app for was the schedule that I put in it. Other than that, not really. For the messaging on the Royal App, it was a charged feature on my sailing. If I remember correctly it was $1.99 pppd
  15. Yeah I don’t get why the Australian government is dragging their feet. With the talks about the travel bubble between Singapore and Australia, I would imagine having travellers within Australia is much simpler vs welcoming tourists from another country
  16. Based on the Singapore sailings, the buffet will be served by the staff, no self service. Also one thing I noticed was that plates were only in one location with a staff handing it out at the entrance to the buffet. No plates in the individual lines. For restaurants, it’s as per normal. You wear your mask till there is food on the table. The first thing they will ask you is what kind of water you’d like. Once water is on your table, masks can come off. The try to leave tables empty between groups as much as possible
  17. Oh no...I’ve made another mistake. I swear, it’s not intentional. Please don’t hurt me...again. ? Thank you and...Sorry? I’m kind of at a lost if I should apologise too. Lol.
  18. To close out my journey on Quantum. Here’s a little video for you guys to enjoy. Quantum of the Seas Ocean Getaway - 1 March
  19. I stayed in the OLS and while I could hear the sound coming from Two70 it actually didn’t bother me. The floor does vibrate but for me I could only make out the bass rumble. The first few times I heard it I actually thought it started raining and it was thunder lol
  20. Yep, posted it a few post ago. The one with the picture of Quantum as we drove away. Overall, the process was really smooth. At your allocated time, you head to the gangway and drop off your tracelet. Head through immigration and you’re done. No more post cruise swab test
  21. Thank you everyone. Really appreciate it. Post cruise withdrawal has started setting in. Walked by a Starbucks yesterday and realized I couldn’t just point at what I want and get it lol.
  22. Haha the thing to know with my dad is he always uses vague language. Like “it’s okay” and “not bad”, but never “great” or “fantastic”. But it did seem like he enjoyed himself so I take it he liked it.
  23. Unfortunately the crew caught me trying to sneak into a lifeboat. ? But thank you for following along.
  24. Bye Quantum, till we meet again Prior to disembarkation, they were calling out tag numbers to disembark at allocated times. You’d normally get your tag number the night before, but if you’re in star class, your genie will escort you off whenever you are ready. Last disembarkation time was 9.45am Disembarkation was smooth. I was expecting that we were going to do an Antigen Rapid Test at the cruise centre but it seems it has been scrapped. We could leave as soon as we went through immigration. And that’s it. The end of my first cruise, first star class and first live blog all rolled into one. Hope you enjoyed following me along on this journey and maybe gave you a little bit of insight into some of the changes that may be happening when cruises restart until the end of this pandemic.
