From a reader that just emailed on on the current Symphony of the Seas sailing October 23: "2784 on board this week FYI Concierge said 3,400 were expected and 600ish  didn’t show/canceled. Word from supervisor is full by June 2022."

Was just on Symphony Oct 9-16 and it had 2281 passengers. I see it’s increasing each week. LOVED the lower capacity. So spoiled

  2. We went to Magens bay this past Wednesday on our cruise. Originally had excursion booked through RC which gave us 2 hrs there. The weather was looking rainy so we cancelled the excursion week before and got a refund. Made a good choice. Turned out to be nice so we ended up getting a taxi there and back. It was $10 pp and there were plenty at the port and at Magens Bay to return. We loved it and wanted to stay even longer!

  3. Hello! For upcoming cruise we have the at home test ordered through RC. But getting a bit nervous about it and want to have a back up test scheduled at Walgreens nearby just in case. Since rapid antigen test is not available in my area, I see they have a test called ID Now which provides results within 24 hrs. Based on what I read on RC website I believe this test is accepted, right? Has anyone done this test at Walgreens and can verify it qualifies?   Thanks!

Some CVS don’t do travel tests snd they just show as “unavailable for appointments “.  Look for other CVS in your area. The closest CVS for travel testing to me is 45 minutes in 2 different directions. (If I were sick I could go -0 minutes down the road)

my options are CT or NY I hesitate to go to CT as a NY resident because I remember we couldn’t do that when testing initially became available so I’ll be driving to the NY location that’s 45 minutes from  me.

I even tried going through putting in stating i have symptoms and it showed no availability for any days from tomorrow to 2 weeks from now. I may call the store to see what’s up.

  5. I went to CVS a couple weeks ago for a rapid test due to some symptoms I had. Test was easy and got results within an hour. Negative, just a cold… But now since then I’ve been checking their site for openings for upcoming dates and there are no times available at all for 2 weeks out. Makes me think they ran out of rapid tests. I keep checking. My cruise is 3 weeks away. So considering this we ordered some at home tests through RC. Fingers crossed we have no issues with the at home testing. I’m nervous about it!

Just scheduled my appts. this morning.  Well, I'll cancel those that I made for the 16th and rebook tomorrow for the 17th.

Drats! That's cutting the window close, as we fly out on the 18th, the day before the cruise.

I know how you feel. On top of it my hotel has cancellation policy of 48 hrs prior to stay so if by chance my test comes back positive then out the hotel $$. Also dealing with airlines. Ugh. This will be cutting it close.

According to the RCCL website, (for FL departures), the new testing requirement reads as follows:

PRE-CRUISE TEST FOR ALL GUESTS ON SAILINGS 5 NIGHTS OR LONGER

    • All guests age 2 and older — regardless of vaccination status — will need to take a COVID-19 test (PCR or antigen) with an accredited test provider, such as a drugstore chain or diagnostic lab, no more than 3 days before arriving at the terminal for embarkation. Guests will need to show their negative test result upon arriving at the terminal. The results can be printed out, or can be presented on your phone, such as the email result from your test provider. Costs associated with this test are the guests' responsibility.

I called RCCL C&A for some clarification on "no more than 3 days before arriving at the terminal for embarkation."   My cruise departs on 12/4.  I can see how RCCL could say that the test has to be taken on 12/1, 12/2, 12/3 or embarkation day 12/4.  However, I can also see where RCCL could say that you CANNOT take the test on 12/1 but it has to be on 12/2, 12/3 or 12/4.  I spoke with C&A and they said that you CANNOT take the test on 12/1 (in this example) but I would have to take the PCR/Antigen test on 12/2 or later.

The rep did put me on hold to talk with someone but I could easily argue that I could take a test on 12/1 which I believe is not more than 3 days prior to embarkation.   This might should like a small issue but when you are driving to the pier from far away, it can make a difference.

All that being said, my "personal math" tells me I can take the test on 12/1 but it is their ship and their rules so 12/2 it is - unless I hear otherwise.

Sometimes the easy stuff can make you scratch your head.

My sailing is on a Saturday. I planned on us getting tested on a Wednesday. According to what they told you, that can’t be? Hmm ?

I'll be curious how many people end up denied boarding or canceling last second due to testing positive pre cruise.

This is my worry for my October sailing out of FL now. Did a lift & shift from Oct 2020 to this sailing. We both are vaccinated. If our tests end up coming back positive I will scream, cry, and stomp my feet like a toddler. Definitely will be hibernating as much as possible during the 2 weeks prior to sailing!

Thanks! I now regret even asking the question today. Haha   I’m not a fan of being vaccinated then now having to get tested. But it is what it is…
