The included shore excursions are typical cruise line excursions but some people would rather do their own thing.  Up until this point they effectively paid for excursions they didn't use if they arranged something private.

I'm considering booking a NoTS 4 Night Cruise and was looking at when to go to a Specialty Dining restaurant ( likely Chops ).
Which day do you think is the best and easiet day to try to get a Specialty Dining Restaurant reservation?
I saw some YouTube Short that suggested that it's a good idea to go to these popular Specialty Dining Restaurants on Embarkation Day since a lot of people want to start off in the Main Dining Room for dinner.
    Thoughts?

I always say night 1 is the best night for specialty dining because the welcome abord menu is boring and usually it is chaotic. Think about it, most of the staff has spent the day preparing the ship for new guest, they are tired and learning the new pax preferences. So mistakes and long wait times can happen. Specialty restaurants don't deal in volume, so it is a much more relaxing experience.

They can be VERY prickly over there! I feel like every thread has a few people that are there just to argue, no matter what topic. Which works everyone up and threads devolve...
@judgen I see you did already find the sub forum for Celebrity on this board. I've also noticed several people lately in our live blog space that have gone on Celebrity and shared info.
We're really lucky that @Matt started this blog!

No, the Genie’s tip is not included in your fare or in your gratuity.
The Genie is excellent at helping arrange activities for all guests but they are not babysitters (realizing that in your situation they are not “babies”).  On standby ?  Not sure I understand the question but rest assured, they are there to help you enjoy your cruise.  Genies can be elusive, if that’s what you want, or they can be very involved with your schedule, if that’s what you want.
Genies will help with scheduling meals, arrange for snacks to be delivered to your suite, arrange reserved seating for theater events, etc.  Basically, anything for which you need a reservation.  Yes, they are super-charged concierges.
Have you read any of the Star Class live blogs on this site ?  There are many and they will really give you a great idea of what the Genie does.
Enjoy your SC cruise on Allure.  Your grandsons are very lucky and frankly, they are the perfect age for enjoying the benefits of a Genie.

I would love to book one of the Euro cruises but the airfare has me scared.  I think we're just going to stick close to home for now.

Water is heavy.  The fountain has a large water storage tank.  The later OA class were built without Rising Tide fountains so that weight could be used elsewhere and the space for the tank used for other purposes.

Not sure what airline you're using, but some offer 1 or 2 free bags if you sign up for their credit card..  Some cards are free others have a small fee.   Just so the math to see if it makes sense.  Alaska is tougher to pack because of the swings in weather.    Pack clothing you can layer.    You can save volume by getting light weight (roll able) rain slickers that you can wear other clothing underneath.

    Let's get this PARTY STARTED!!!
That's right, for the FIRST TIME, your favorite (only?) Royal Caribbean Blog moderators (me, @AshleyDillo, and @Lovetocruise2002) are sailing on the same ship at the same time!  This is going to be epi..... errrr... dare I say "ICONIC"?
I am so excited for this sailing.  There will be so many new things and so many old and new friends to spend time with.  Each one of us will contribute in our own way.  If there's something on the ship that YOU want us to document, ask a moderator!!!!!!!

I have read recently (on this board) that for some people, the safety briefing doesn't "take" if you do it prior to embarkation day. People reported having to do it again if they did it a day or more ahead of time.

I believe you're correct, but the savings have withered in recent times.   As you paid gratuities, it still simplifies when your "checkout" when dinner ends.  All paid and you don't necessarily get the puppy eyes for additional (and a little quicker).

I suggest focusing on itinerary, not a cruise line.
    Try other cruise lines.
You are not me, I am not you.  I have sailed other lines.  My likes and dislikes are unique to me.  My opinions are biased by my likes and dislikes.
Had I never tried another cruise line I wouldn't have found Royal.
Carnival, Norwegian, Royal and MSC are all similar lines competing in the mass cruise market.  Try them all and then think about what works best for you.
