I'm on route to be vaccinated, 2nd dose in 8 weeks time.  I hope that if masks are to be worn on-board that it will follow the same mask rules as on land - masks on whilst in an enclosed indoor public space, and off in cabin, and off when outside on deck.

Scottish and English rules are different for people coming into the country, because of these differences it allows people from high risk countries to enter without the need to quarantine if they are smart.
If you stay in a high risk country and want to come to Scotland firstly fly to france or any other country that is not on the Englishgovernments list of banned countries, from there fly to England as you will not have to quarantine then head up to Scotland.
Once in Scotland you dont have to quarantine as youve came through england and you are free to spread the virus as happened with the 3 offshore workers from Brazil a few weeks ago...Brazil - Paris - London- Aberdeen

There is no way the US CDC would follow that rational line of thinking ?

    Official statement would read....
Just because tens of thousands of people have successfully and safely cruised since last fall and through the “second wave” on multiple cruise lines does not mean it is safe to resume. If we allow this we at the CDC will no longer feel important and we cannot let this happen.

Really, I don't think this was a real gamble.  If the cruise sails, YIPPEE !!!  If it doesn't then you either get all of your money back or you make 25% on your investment to put towards another cruise or you get to move this cruise to next year.  I think you're a winner !!

Not in UK as the suggestion is that test cruises have been done courtesy of MSC in Italy, proving that protocols can work.  In the US I think each cruise line needs to do test cruises...

I'd be perfectly to just cruise around the Mediterranean Sea without making land, straight out and in of Southampton.  I know a lot of Brits who'd like amenities of the Anthem and sunshine on deck, but would RCL do without Ports?

JMO and you're going to have a better feel for this than I might em.down, but I can't see a realistic way, assuming Southampton allows cruise ships to port there, that a trip through the Straights and into warmer cruising waters, say the Balearics or even the Canary's on the West Coast of Africa, such routes without port calls can be organized and executed. It sure sounds appealing though. Thoughts?

Kids under 16 not being vaccinated in the UK, so I'm too got fingers crossed the kids are allowed to cruise this summer.  Although, I'm expecting to have to get them a negative Covid-19 PCR test within 72 hours of travel.

A thought guess - we still haven't seen test cruises yet (or the specs from the CDC delivered to the lines).  If we see that before May, and crew movements occur - perhaps a chance.  Depends upon what ship and which embarkation port.   The fleet is not all going to start sailing at the same time so folks will need to select ships that are the highest priority for the lines to bring back to operations.  How do we guess and pick the right ones for early start?   We know 2 Q class are going to be sailing over the summer - what's next in the queue, from a ship and embarkation port/region?

Emphasis on rumor, but I digress.
In Israel, kids under 16 are allowed on Odyssey. They get tested (like everyone).

If Israel is allowing those under 16 to cruise without a vaccine, then there's no chance the USA will ban those under 16.

Since the rumor is that we might need a vaccine to board the ship, that would conclude that people under 16 years old will not be allowed to board since there is no approved vaccine for kids this age. I am wondering what everybody thinks about this and if they would allow children unvaccinated too bored. I have a July cruise planned with my 11 year old ?

I posted last week about concerns regarding the Europe's rising COVID case numbers, excluding the UK which is not an EU member state. That concern is based on the impact on cruising from European ports, this despite the good news in the UK.
Italy will go into full lock-down on Monday to curb rising COVID case numbers. They won't be the last EU nation to do this or at least suffer imposition of more restrictive COVID mitigation measures. Cruise ports aren't going to open up in countries we long to re-visit or visit for the first time. In fact, American ports may open before European ports even though, in general, EU member state's health authorities have been more pro-cruise tourism than our own CDC has been.
Meanwhile, at home in the US, optimism for a return to some form of normalcy by July 4th (Joe Biden's goal for Independence from COVID day) or possibly as early as May according to some experts, is a result of the stunning success of both the vaccines themselves but also the impressive roll-out of them. There's still some disorganization and lack of coordination among dispensing agencies and businesses but people who track this stuff think vaccines will be widely available by mid-April to everyone that wants one and is over 16.
The EU? Vaccine distribution disaster, predictable public health retrenchment along with the curtailment of mobility and social contact. Unless this picture changes within the next 30 days or so, I fear what optimistically looked like a return to cruising in Europe and the Med by July isn't going to happen.
