  1. Fabulous, well I've spent my OBC on spa, hair, teeth, and nail treatments. So if they cancel June cruises I've got my fingers crossed that I can get 125% or simply have 100%moved to another cruise. On another note, just got emailed by Royal to take part in a survey about this June cruise. They were asking about why I booked, what I expect from a covid p.o.v., and what I want most from this cruise. Was it too cheeky for me to say "I wanted it to just Sail" ?
  2. May show willing and purchase lots using it ... they may then show willing in return.
  3. I have $600 onboard credit for a sailing in June 2021 - but can't use it on other cruises I have booked (it's assigned to the cruise not my account). What happens when (if) Royal cancel this cruise: 1. Do I just lose this credit? Or get 125% onboard credit for it...? 2. Can I lift and shift this credit alongside the cruise? 3. If I've spent it onlineon drinks packages etc... do I simply lose it...or do I need to have spent it to get 125% on board credit? Can't work it out... if I need to have spent it, I will quickly go and book up low of spa treatments ?
  4. There's no link between blood clotting deaths and astra zeneca - needs further investigation. Although there is some suggestion that it may be one batch of the vaccine (but again needs further investigation)
  5. My understanding of the vaccines that they won't be available for private purchase, as there are so many countries needing to purchase, a backlog on production... and all the co-vax countries. Everyone needs global vaccination as we're so interconnected. It was certainly frowned on by uk authorities when it came out that some wealthy individuals were paying huge sums to travel to the UAE to get vaccinated early. Not sure how vaccines are going to be sourced by private corporates.
  6. Well 17th May will be the domestic cruises allowed, I understand 21st June will be international cruises from UK (at the earliest)... It will then be a question on what size ships can fit into UK ports (whether Scotland & Wales, n.ireland join in), and later on it'll be what international ports would be opened to travellers from UK ports (I'm expecting vaccinated passengers at this point)... I'm expecting confirmation on 12th April (grant schapps mp doing travel review for road map out of lockdown; and Michael gove update on way forward on vaccine passports)... I'd sit back and see if RCL cancels on you ( lift & shift or 125% fcc)... if not you can always then cancel 48hrs before sail date and get 100% fcc.
  7. Come June half of uk adults will have had both jabs. I am also presuming that there will be some sort of vaccine passport as well. Also, those travelling abroad would be the vaccinated people and social distancing/mask wearing also still required by countries with travelling corridors set up. I think there may also be a route abroad for this with negative covid tests still (but with differenttravel corridors - you know how the government likes to keep things complicated)
  8. Spain and Begium are running under 5000 daily cases Portugal and Norway are under 1000 daily cases UK is closing in (down) to 5000 cases/day as perspective... Italy, Germany, France running into 10s of thousands... Vaccinated people being allowed to travel between borders starts to make sense and possible...
  9. I'm right on the Welsh border and I can't keep up with all the differences between states...wish we were at least all the same. They are saying that these domestic cruises (p&o and princess) will be England only ports atm...hope all least all other states join in as I know so many people (even those that don't cruise) that love the sound of a British Isles cruise and go al the way round...gotta say I'd be up for it
  10. Yep, these 25% profit margin on cancelled cruises are slowly paying for my annual summer cruises with the kids...and don't forget the additional 25% for cancelled on-board spend like drink packages....I've taken to booking Suites...worst case scenario is I cancel and get 100% fcc....or I actually get to cruise and have treated myself to a suite life ?
  11. No vaccine is full proof against covid, and they don't know enough about potential boosters for variants...so reasonable safeguarding onboard AND vaccination would be more realistic for a year or two...
  12. I'm still optimistic about July sailings from Southampton... 1. Anthem at Le Havre port France, via British waters (rumour that its crewing up, just rumour atm) 2. RCL like putting on 3 two week cruises in a row that coincide with the UK school holidays - blog group cruise is immediately before these cruises 3. I think they may want to get at least 1 cruise in before the 3 biggies with all the kids and families on-board (not a good look if those 3 cruises go tits up re covid) 4. Even with case numbers in Europe going up and potential 3rd lockdown stories flying around (true for some countries like Italy), but there are countries who want to open up to UK tourists that are vaccinated (or holidays departing from UK like cruises) - these include Spain (and Belgium) which has less than 5k daily new cases; then there's Portugal that has less than 1000/day...the other European country that has less than 1000/day? Norway, home of those Fjords ?. 5. If they do domestic cruising in the UK - that would need a smaller ship that can fit in UK ports - jewel of the seas in Southampton (last time I checked). Earliest they can do these sailings will be 17th May her in the UK. 6. Earliest possible for international cruising from Southampton is looking like 21st June... 7. There's a big update in the UK on April 12th - expected is transport review (incl international travel); also expecting update on vaccination passports as well...UK maritime minister has already confirmed cruising will fall into these reviews. 8. I would keep an eye on the 12th April review and any updates on quarantine hotels (international arrivals to UK have to lockdown in hotels by law for 10 or 14 days). Sky news is available live on YouTube and always shows these news conferences. I think that we might have 2 RCL ships this summer...it'll be interesting to see what happens, but I wouldn't give up hope for that group cruise just yet.
  13. Not in UK as the suggestion is that test cruises have been done courtesy of MSC in Italy, proving that protocols can work. In the US I think each cruise line needs to do test cruises...
  14. Canaries and balearics ... tempting, you could come and organising uk cruising Jeff ?. It was a over a week ago but jewel of the seas was in Southampton, and Anthem sailed through British waters and was in Le Havre port...so I think they're hovering and waiting... Just been on Tips for Travellers YouTube channel live stream and there were people know crew on-board ships that are crewing up and preparing for June cruises (but shear rumour atm)... Do I start to get excited yet???
  15. Late July hopefully as I'm on the 24th sailing...got everything crossed. Although, on Tips for Travellers love stream on YouTube (today) there was rumours from crew on-board RCL ships that they are crewing up for June sailings
  16. I think July 24th 2021 to coincide with UK school summer holidays onboard Anthem
  17. I'm on route to be vaccinated, 2nd dose in 8 weeks time. I hope that if masks are to be worn on-board that it will follow the same mask rules as on land - masks on whilst in an enclosed indoor public space, and off in cabin, and off when outside on deck.
  18. Kids under 16 not being vaccinated in the UK, so I'm too got fingers crossed the kids are allowed to cruise this summer. Although, I'm expecting to have to get them a negative Covid-19 PCR test within 72 hours of travel.
  19. I'd be perfectly to just cruise around the Mediterranean Sea without making land, straight out and in of Southampton. I know a lot of Brits who'd like amenities of the Anthem and sunshine on deck, but would RCL do without Ports?
  20. I find it strange as it's 2022...if it was 2021 it might be a covid measure to limit occupancy...
  21. I booked a cruise earlier today (from UK) and since then they have changed one of the booking screens: Can now only book 1 stateroom at a time...wonder what's prompted this...? Wasn't there 5/6 hours ago
  22. Well I'm happy to be out of the EU tbh. The anthem is due to have 3 two week long cruises this summer, coinciding with school holidays. It is feasible that they can change med ports of call to Greece, Cyprus, Israel for vaccinated peeps (they are interested in looping in the UK in their existing group)...and 2 week sailings makes this feasible to cruise to from Southampton. Also, I was pleasantly surprised to discover we have a dedicated maritime minister who is feeding into the review of international travel the UK is doing for 12th April.
