  1. well my July 31st (last day of suspension) alaska cruise was officially cancelled which really sucks, however we were on phone for 45 minutes and they easily L&S'ed to July 2021, really sucks but at least we got on a next year sailing before they sold out, and actually got a free 7 night cruise with our excess FCC. silver lining.
  2. positives! https://www.adn.com/alaska-news/2020/05/19/dunleavy-to-lift-all-coronavirus-capacity-restrictions-on-alaska-businesses-friday/

  4. heres another positive Alaska article, moving more and more towards normalcy! https://www.adn.com/alaska-news/2020/05/19/dunleavy-to-lift-all-coronavirus-capacity-restrictions-on-alaska-businesses-friday/
  5. British Columbia released their reopen plans Please note the June reopening phase. HOTELS AND RESORTS to open again, which is a MAJOR factor in cruises determining if feasible to bring back guests. Hotels and resorts are huge for drop and go points! The ONE big barrier right now is if Canada will extend or rescind the port closures, but again POSITIVE hopes here! https://bc.ctvnews.ca/here-is-a-list-of-services-that-will-be-allowed-to-reopen-in-b-c-and-when-1.4929748 for the full slide show and release, look here: https://bc.ctvnews.ca/from-haircuts-to-dinner-parties-b-c-unveils-plan-for-easing-covid-19-restrictions-1.4927166

  7. i might have to do that as well JUST in case, did you pay another deposit for the 2021 sailing? or held for now with no deposit? really holding hope for this year as my original June4th sailing was my 30th birthday so it was a special once in a lifetime sailing for me. would hate to do it on my 31st birthday LOL
  8. Im still holding out hope for my July 31 southbound Alaska cruise out of Anchorage, heres why... RC is taking measures to ensure they will be the cleanest, most safe ship on the waters with the application for the patent on sea mask-and the e-muster, we see them taking steps that the other lines have not. Alaska has been in phase one for almost 2 weeks... and im sure will move to phase 2 by June EDIT- Phase 2 begins May 8 https://www.ktuu.com/content/news/State-announces-plan-for-phase-2-reopening-Alaska-570260251.html and then phase 3 by at least end of June. The US Canada border restrictions ends May 15th, unless extended a month to June 15. the ONE outlier here in my opinion is Canadas port closures. if they remain closed for the rest of 2020 (possible) then its a done no deal. Im sick of the doom and gloom, if you keep uttering positive vibes and words, the universe responds (read the book the Secret, it has changed my life!) I think that sailing the final 2 sailings of Alaska 2020 would still be worth it to RCL. I know my (newbie on here) opinion probably means nothing... but Im a very forward thinker.
  9. That is the best breakdown i have seen on this thread!! I know how awfully Alaska's economy will struggle because of this, and because of my age not being even remotely close to the risk ages or any co-morbidities.. I am more than willing and eagerly waiting to give Alaska some relief. I know I am pennies to them in the scheme of things, but i will be raring to go 2 months from now! If people can predict what the world will look like 2 months from now, I have some nice waterfront property in Arizona I'm willing to sell them. They also should start playing the lottery.
  10. welp after reading all the doom and gloom for Alaska cruises this year, I should just go ahead and cancel my July 31st cruise out of anchorage yeah? because there is just no way on Gods Green earth that things can get better and that everyone cant wear masks while traveling, or get their temperatures checked, or not let people over the age of 65-70 cruise for the forseeable future to protect them? I will just go ahead and cancel it.. there is a 100% chance it wont happen! noted!
  11. well then in the ballad of the great show south park.... "BLAME CANADA"
  12. i think the last month of Alaska cruises will sail (August), by that time Alaska and Canada will have at least rescinded travel restrictions. im not terribly worried that it wont at this point. most experts are predicting by mid to late summer this will be mostly behind us (until fall time)
  13. its too late to request refund instead of FCC, once its issued they dont reverse it to the refund. The point of this post is to let people know it DOES NOT apply to the full cruise. just cruise fare, and thats important for people to know, ESPECIALLY if they were planning on doing what we were going to do and use the extra 25% for the $2400 worth of excursions and onboard activities! As i check this board often for updates like these, i found it important.
  14. i did look at that but i can only go up to a suite from here and then would owe more so alas i wait. and bite the bullet of not requesting the full refund
  15. FCC should apply to all things on that future cruise, if you book stuff through cruise planner it should also be allowed to be applied. with the amount "extra" we are getting we could take another full cruise completely paid for because alaska is one of the most expensive itineraries, however, so are the excursions. Thats to say if this will even sail end of July. just took us by surprise, and looking at other threads, several people think it includes being able to use on board or for excursions.
  16. That is straight BS. they need to address this better on their websites. nowhere does it say it cant be used as cruise planner credit. except for when you call to rebook... its simple for RC to apply the credits to the cruise planner credits and apply it to entire balance. and now they are telling us that the FCC WONT apply to the Pre Cruise tour that RC literally has as a booking type on their booking page (Pre-cruisetour b). Their true colors are showing through this mess and it will be the last time we sail with them.
  17. it was towards the cruise fare, the cruise we rebooked was 1000 less than the original, yet we wont be able to use the difference in an on board credit now. and that is absolutely insane. why offer MORE (125%) money if you cant use the extra?!
  18. I am pretty livid right now. I got my 125% FCC yesterday and called to apply today, and they told me it CANNOT be applied to onboard credits or cruise planner... this is RIDICULOUS. has anyone else experienced this? why issue us MORE if we cant use it on things ON BOARD?!?! anyone else experience this horrible customer service?!
  19. hey there! so we called to rebook and they got us on the later alaska cruise in late july, and said they are pushing the deposit fee out until may 31 once FCCs are credited! hope this helps!
