But the requirement to follow overly strict protocols to sail IS a CDC requirement. Cruise lines could opt to not require testing but that would limit the ability to meet even crazier requirements from CDC.

This is fantastic!!  I'm sure the cruise industry will be thrilled too.  Now the folks from the US can go overseas to cruise and not worry about a test to return home!

You have officially MADE MY DAY! I have been stressing about our return to US from Amsterdam in August.  Seriously, I feel a huge weight has been lifted off me.  I was so worried that we wouldn't have good enough WiFi on the ship to test properly the day before disembarkation.

Antibody tests are not accepted, as they do not detect a current infection. Home test kits that are self-administered at home, and not supervised live by a telehealth professional, are also not accepted. Supervised telehealth tests are not accepted for unvaccinated guests – only for vaccinated guests. Item #2 says home kits self administered and not supervised live by a telehealth professional are not accepted.  If you have a home kit and get a supervised telehealth proctor like onpoint I believe it will meet the criteria of an approved test-because it is supervised.  The Binax Now test kits were a way for Royal to make it easier for the Royal Passenger  ---when testing requirements started  there were not many telehealth professional nor home kits around and we all were trying to figure out how to get testing done.  

We were wondering, with the eMed Tests, do you pack them in luggage (no temperature control or do you bring them with you in your carry-on luggage?  I don't want to take the risk of ruining any tests due to heat and or cold, conceding the cost and we do NOT want to scramble at the last minute.  We are flying a few days in advance and sometimes it is really hard to get a coivd test.

I can't even get excited about an upcoming cruise like I used to until get through Smokey's "Level 3". These testing requirements really make me temper my expectations.
We spent the entire month of January as secluded as we could just to try and make sure we would test negative on January 27th!
At about 4:00 pm that day (once my wife's test results were done) I finally got to exclaim "We're going on the cruise!"

Level 1: It's T-minus 45.  Got checked in and got my preferred time slot! I'll unnecessarily fret about how long it's taking to validate my vax card, but oh well
Level 2: T-minus 30. Holy cow my luggage tags are ready. My luggage has dust on it in the garage and I'm not touching them for another 4 weeks but gosh darnit I'm printing these luggage tag right now! Level 2 isn't much more exciting than Level 1 but those luggage tags are some physical artifact that the cruise is near.
Level 3: T-minus 2. My armpits are soaked from that 15 minutes of anticipatory hell constantly squinting and wondering "is that a second line or just an eyelash?", but the covid tests are negative. Level 3 is a Richter scale tier difference from Level 2.
Level 4: Liftoff. On board the ship. My flights made it, I got a great absolutely terrible night's sleep at the hotel like a kid on Christmas Eve, and I got through check-in with no issues. Let the fun begin.  Obviously Level 4 might as well be light years from Level 3.

So now the CDC wants the DoJ to appeal.  If successful it won't be pretty putting the genie back in bottle.

The U.S. Coast Guard has announced it will no longer be enforcing the use of masks on public maritime vessels, which includes cruise ships and port terminals. This followed a judge’s ruling that the CDC mask order, which applied to all persons traveling on ships into, within, or out of the United States and to all persons at US ports, had been vacated.
For now, federal agencies are looking at the court’s decision. At least one cruise port, the Port of Boston, has announced it will not be enforcing masks anymore at its facilities. Whether others will follow that example is becoming more likely. 

“As a result of a court order, effective immediately and as of April 18, 2022, CDC’s January 29, 2021 Order requiring masks on public transportation conveyances and at transportation hubs is no longer in effect. Therefore, CDC will not enforce the Order. CDC continues to recommend that people wear masks in indoor public transportation settings at this time.”

Awesome news! And as to the person saying OP should basically be kinder to those who want to mask, they were kind, exceedingly so. Wear a mask if you want to. Those of us who have been against violating people's rights for two years (because 0.0% of these mandates have ever been voted on) have had to develop very thick skin. We don't get to make posts like this, we don't get to point out basic science that's been proven time and again over the last decade, we get to remain silent or get cancelled. So, our skin is thick. And yet we're still absolutely happy to let you wear a mask, it's your right, remember that, remember that we're not the ones trying to force things on you. Try to be kind enough to do the same.

Yeah....well....literally....AFTER this ruling was handed down the little tiny dictators were coming on the bus and yelling at all the cruisers they need their masks, threatening to kick people of the plane......so it still going to be a long road ahead restoring freedoms.

I can see it coming, so let me clarify:  The judge ruled against the Federal Government's over reactive order for masks.  That judgement only applies to the Federal rule.  Terminals are generally local government entities and some are private.  They usually use the Federal Government's rule to justify the mask mandate within their facilities.  They can no longer do that.  They only have themselves to blame if they continue to require masks within their facilities.  BTW, Airlines are private businesses also.  They can no longer use the Federal Government's rule to justify the requirement to mask-up and can't use federal resources to enforce masking rules.  
ALSO, if a local government (City, County, State) totally used the Federal Government's rule/law and had no rule/law of their own to justify arrests, they now have no legal bases (some do, however) to mandate masks, they will have to come up with their own law if they want to continue to require masking-up.  

I'm wondering if this means that masks are no longer needed at the port terminal when getting ready to board...
