The apparent radio silence on guidance from the CDC is what bugs me.....

What's your dream itenerary for 2022-2023 sailings
jaredhamburg replied to Kathleen's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
I have wanted to do that, too! I am hoping RCI does a cruise from Florida to California in 14 days (full transit) like other cruise lines, at some point. It would be a smaller ship due to cruise length, but I think it would be awesome to show the kids that much history (and see it for myself, as well!). -
@Mrs. Thomas Good point about safety. My best friend has land down in Oklahoma. Maybe we can talk him into us going with his family down there for hiking, camping, bike riding (we have spent enough time at home where the kids have actually learned how to ride their bikes pretty well), tending of animals (they have a small amount of cattle), and some outdoorsy stuff for a long weekend.....Would be simpler not to have to plan around unrest and outbreaks.

I am soooo ready to sail and agree about their already distressed refund / FCC system. Plus, I think they want to see more info about how COVID-19 is spreading as it gets closer to September. Like everyone has said, them hanging on to their money longer helps them survive. If this cruise gets canceled, we will book something for next year and try to go somewhere fun with the kids this year. I love being on the water, but I need a little time away.....so, I may end up with a land vacation doing some stuff down in TX.

I have wondered if they viewed their recent sales as a way of getting a short-term loan from their customers. I hope they are not doing this, but one begins to wonder after a bit.....

The refund situation is very aggravating at this point. I am buying nothing else through the cruise planner until they get their refund act together.

Read it here as well (https://www.cnbc.com/2020/06/19/cruise-lines-voluntarily-suspend-all-trips-out-of-us-ports-until-sept-15-trade-group-says.html). The goal just keeps on moving...My family is on the 9/25/2020 Enchantment of the Seas sailing out of Galveston, TX. We would be the second cruise after this new start date. I don't know how much I want to be a test subject. I think the rules for being on the ship will determine things for my family. Thanks for sharing the article!

I hope they push the envelope and are the pack leader and start up first out of the big three. This will probably not happen; but, hey, hope can spring up in the most unlikely places....

I don't have a good feeling about this. . . .

Analyst says CDC treatment of cruise lines is unjust

I agree 110% with that last sentence especially! -

If my late September cruise gets scrubbed, I will seriously not think of booking anything until after cruising has begun again.....ugh.... -

I think you are on to something that public opinion is driving a lot of this. I think it is unfair. Hopefully, they can start bending some ears with all of the lobbyists these big cruises companies have....at least let themselves be heard and come up with concrete plans with dialogue back and forth....This is just a real mess for everyone! -
How Far Out To Book Drinks?
jaredhamburg replied to stevendom57's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
I would personally wait on sending much money to any travel company until things calm down. I wish I could have told myself that advice (and made myself listen to it) during the last sale. I think it is good to wait until sailing starts again. RC always seems to have good sales every few months.... -
Only times I have ever felt crushed in were the muster drills, pirate night (on the Disney Wonder), and the champagne waterfall (on Princess ships....mostly busy due to free champagne to all). Overall, I feel much more packed in when going to movies, shopping, on a plane, etc....
-
The CDC seems to be hanging out and leading by just waiting, which is not leading at all. This is so annoying as they have a chokehold on cruising. It would be nice if the CDC would publish more and give some more guidance. As it is part of the executive branch, I hope that the cruises can use lobbyists to get some pressure placed on them for leadership. I generally hate the idea of lobbyists, but it would probably be okay with me in this case....

I think you will like it here. There is wealth of knowledge and some very helpful people. Good luck on your cruise planning!

Things like this and the Carnival CEO seeming less sure about August make me worry about my late September 2020 cruise on Enchantment of the Seas out of Galveston....
