Pattycruise reacted to smokeybandit in No more Covid test requirements to fly into U.S.
This was a huge talk of the town on board serenade last night. No official word from the ship though. Maybe now that Michael Bayley has mentioned it they'll publish something on board ship since many have tests lined up tomorrow

You might want to pack them anyway. Better to have and not need, than to need & not have..... It could change at any moment

Yes, you can.
"Guests may also bring non-alcoholic beverages as carry-on items on boarding day. Non-alcoholic beverages may not exceed 12 standard (17 oz.) cans, bottles or cartons per stateroom. Milk and distilled water brought on for infant, medical, or dietary use are permitted. "

Pattycruise reacted to AshleyDillo in Trip Ins
I have never used my annual policy (through Allianz) on a cruise but I have used it for a flight delay. The claims process was very easy and I was reimbursed for my meals and extra rental car charge during the delay.
Very minimal claim but it was good to know if I couldn't make it home that day my extra costs would have been covered. My policy is $450 annually for just me.
Typically a single per cruise insurance policy you can expect about 10% of the value of the cruisefare you are insuring to be your premium for the policy. If you buy third party and not through the cruiseline you can insure the whole trip (flights, prestay hotel, etc).
I like that the annual policy also covers any smaller non cruise trips I take. That's just icing on the cake for me since most of those trips involve more nonrefundable travel expenses for me.

Thats exactly what we do and unfortunately, we haven't found many good deals in a few years.

I continue to take pics of their name tags along the way. It helps a great deal when trying to remember a name I am unfamiliar with. When I tell them why I am snapping their name tag they usually beam, and for sure include their name and station on the after cruise survey.
On the Allure in Coastal Kitchen Leo our server & Bikram head server.
Both were true stand outs.
Junior Allen the suites concierge was a genie in training, a very kind & gentle soul, yet understated pit bull.

My December sailing is about $1000 more then when I booked it three weeks ago, so there's that.

Pattycruise got a reaction from Neesa in Crown & Anchor Perks Question
I recall a mock booking I did (pre-Covid) where the C&A gave me a higher price (or would you say less of a discount). I was super annoyed by that and when I told the TA what booking I wanted I told her to book it without the C&! # and we would add it later (and I told her why).
So, the lesson I learned that day was to run my mock bookings with each item and then remove some of the items....it's time consuming but worth it if it saves me $. *This was before I hit Diamond/Diamond +

Pattycruise reacted to Pooch in And now for the rest of the story…
Showing my age here, anyone else remember Paul Harvey?
As you have all been so kind and supportive through the trials and tribulations of my brother’s attempt at his first cruise, wanted to fill you in on the final outcome.
1. Royal refunded port taxes, fees, prepaid gratuities and DPB.
2. AON insurance issued FCCs for 90% of the unrefunded cruise fare. This was confusing because they issued 2 FCCs but he only received 1. They are reissuing the 2nd.
3. SWA returned the points used for the cancelled flights and gave them $650 in LUV anytime vouchers.
So in the end he had to eat 10% of the cruise fare ($177 we had a very suite deal) and the cost of the insurance ($148). We are now looking for another cruise to book. I will take one for the team and go too (the things I do for my brother😄😄). I won’t ever be able to recreate the deal we had on Harmony but at least he got what I consider reasonable compensation for his ordeal.
Thanks to all here, my RC family! 🥰

Pattycruise got a reaction from WAAAYTOOO in Check in, in this new era?
It sailed.....that's all I need! LOL My first time on it was 2012 and then again this past August out of the Bahamas, then May 31 for Halifax. I love the ship. I remember being so lost the first time onboard. I've since learned where to book my cabin to be able to find it off an elevator easily. The casino is confusing, lots of smoking sections for the slots, I could not tell where the non smoking section began and the casino host is locked away behind a door....so my August sailing, when I gambled, I had no idea to look for a host to ask questions! Overall, I still love the ship and my next favorite is Oasis class, big difference between the 2

Pattycruise got a reaction from WAAAYTOOO in Picked up covid on Allure. Anyone else?
Someone posted in one of my FB groups they got Covid onboard and they wore their mask “all the time”. I asked where they are : “main dining room and windjammer “. I don’t think they know why I asked that question. It was to prove “you don’t wear it everywhere “. I did not ask what type of mask they wore though, which is a whole other issue, never mind asking if it was worn properly and if they used hand sanitizer.

I’m D+ and have never been offered an upgrade, I went so far as to ask Guest services on a recent cruise and was shot down “due to Covid” (getting tired of this excuse for everything,).
you can try to do a mock booking when you hit your new level and see if it offers a discounted price I’ve repriced numerous cruises when there are various sales, I don’t see why this will be different

You will need the wifi package. Turn your phone to airplane mode to avoid charges.
I find with the wifi package I can text, call and facetime (enable wifi calling on your phone) and what's app is my "back up to that". Be sure the people you plan to contact via What's app have it downloaded on their phone.

Pattycruise reacted to Pooch in Trip Ins
Well I wanted to let you all know the end of my brother’s saga. Aon Ins issued FCC for 90% of the unrefunded fare. At first the amount looked wrong but he was finally able to contact a supervisor who told him the FCC was issued in 2 parts (where have I heard that before??) and he never received the second one. Together they total what I expected him to get. I won’t be able to take him on the cruise deal we got on Harmony but at least we can go somewhere together. Thanks for everyone’s sympathy and encouragement!

When doing a mock booking don't forget to click on the "Apply a promo code and exclusive rates discount." once you add all of the possible discounts the page will select the discount that gives you the best bang for the buck. I always put in my C&A number, Residence (California), Senior 55+ and then click continue. RCCL then updates the offer with the best discount available. You rarely can use more than one additional code beyond what the sale promotion is offering.
Example: original Promo
I then apply all of the additional promo codes that apply to me C&A discount, Residence (California), and Senior 55+ and RCCL comes back with the best promo available from my entries.
Sometimes the C&A discount isn't better than the other promos that you may qualify for and don't forget to use all that apply. In this instance, my California Residency discount is better than my C&A discount (Or my C&A applies only after I choose a balcony or above further into the booking process.) I am a D+ by the way just for reference.
Happy Sailing.

Just a note on those passport organizers. My wife bought these cute passport holders right before we cruises on Adventure of the Seas from Bahamas in 2021. First thing the customs agent asked was for us to take them out of their holders.
