  1. My plan is to go to Las Vegas first then onto a cruise as air fare to Vegas from Canada is not too expensive and then find a cheap flight from Vegas to LA. I have 2 right now both not for over a year but as more of 2023 gets released there will be more I guarantee it!
  2. The one complaint I have about harmony is the lack of pool in the solarium. I know you didn’t ask about it but other wise I agree very similar to symphony.
  3. As a Canadian I heard not for women under 55. Men fair game
  4. crispy all the way, but will say that is too crispy for me. I have a nice butcher who has the most amazing bacon which when cooked is magically chewy and crispy at the same time!!
  5. As a Canadian I have a cruise booked for December 26, 2021 that we are hoping to get on! As well for my sisters 21 birthday this July and she wants to go to Orlando but I'm not holding out hope to even be able to cross the border. As well I have a vacation booked for Las Vegas in the middle of August for my mothers wedding that has been planned for 2 years so heres hoping for something. IF all else fails I'm going to go to Banff this summer.
  6. I’m glad for the new terminal coming. I saw a lady pass out near me in line it was crazy! It was just all the things piled up that made it a crazy embarkation.
  7. I got stuck in fog the one cruise I took from Galveston December 26, 2018. We couldn’t get on the ship as the harbour was closed, finally saw the ship come in around 2pm, then it needed to off load everyone and let us on. Worst terminal I’ve ever seen, no air conditioning, no water and I was waiting once told to board for 3 hours. There was no priority lines or anything, I hope the new terminal fixes the terminal issues. We still did not leave until the next day around noon as it was too foggy. Texas has weird liquor laws so very little choice is a available until you are at sea. I would cruise from Galveston again and am looking at a March 2023 one.
  8. I’m seriously looking at one of the allure sailings in March of 2023. To see them decently priced especially for spring break (teacher life) is amazing! I was looking though and they either need to add a sea day or another port as right now for a 7 night cruise they have 2 sea days and 3 ports (hmmmm)
  9. I should add that I am 24 now so its been a couple years since I was 18-20 and my sister is 21 but on our last cruise we did not book any royal excursions when she was 20, so for reference its been 3 years since we have used this.
  10. For excursions I have booked when I was 18-20 and my sister was the same age we were able to drink on royal excursions. I remember doing this in Cozumel and roatan specifically. We are Canadian and from a province where the legal drinking age is 18 so it was weird going on cruises when you were used to drinking where you are from.
  11. I have these photos from harmony from the balcony of cabin 10329. I personally like the cabin layout and the view from the balcony. Spent a decent amount of time there when we in port. These photos are from being docked at perfect day.
  12. Trying to figure out my favourite ship is hard I like Oasis class best, but am wanting to cruise on smaller ships. I have been on Freedom, Mariner, Oasis x3, Symphony and Harmony. I think Symphony was my favourite, I missed the pool in the solarium on Harmony a lot! I like the open views from the boardwalk on old oasis more though, but hopefully in December will get to see the vamped Oasis.
  13. As a family of at least five adults cruising together we very rarely do hotels as they do not make financial sense when you need 3 rooms. Our last cruise in February left from Port Canaveral and we stayed in Orlando before the cruise for 5 nights to be able to see some of disney and enjoy the warm not Canadian winter. We rented a 5 bedroom place and it was cheeper for us than buying 2 hotel rooms per night and allowed us to be able to cook our own meals and save money on food. We had a rental car from Budget that we paid for with points and used it to drive to the port and back to the airport. I will say that picking up the rental car after the cruise was awful as they did not have the minivan we rented and did not have anything bigger and it took us a long time to get out of that mess. Thank goodness we picked a later flight.
  14. We chose to do book with confidence and completely changed the cruise we are on from a 10 night May 2, 2021 from Hawaii to Vancouver to a 7 night New Years Cruise on Oasis and were able to keep our onboard credit for both rooms. We did book originally at NextCruise, but kept our onboard credit and gained some more. Glad I have a travel agent who handled it all though.
  15. Sorry about the time between posts I was busy enjoying the cruise. But it’s over I’m home again in the cold waiting for a bus to take me to the university. Day 3: cruising I will admit right now that I am not an entertaining sea day kind of person. I eat find a lounger, drink, swim and repeat. woke up and got a chai tea latte from cafe promenade they already know my order so that may be a problem. Then off to breakfast in the main dining room. I really enjoy a leisurely breakfast on sea days. I had eggs benedict and a mimosa it was good but not fantastic and I’ve seen better service I’m not sure if it’s because it was near the end of breakfast or what but just not as attentive as I’m used to. off to the pool deck now i found a lounger on deck 16 and a couple of frozen mojitos were drunken then I moved on to grey goose and pineapple. Every hour or so I had to get up to swim as it was really hot. Next it was off to lunch in the park cafe I loved the roast beef sandwich it was delicious! Then back to the pool deck for more swimming, lounging, reading and drinking. At 5pm I called it a day went to get a latte then up to the room to get ready for formal night! We are not a photo taking family always say we will get photos but never do. For dinner my white wine I’ve had the last 2 nights was perfectly chilled and waiting for me thanks Lobo! ? French onion soup, steak and cheesecake was consumed. Then off to watch the aqua show drink sangria, then to the casino where I gave Royal some money then off to karaoke where there was no drama just a drunk guy who loved show tunes but as I did as well this was not a problem for me!
  16. Better than song stealing some women’s husband was singing and she’s cheering him on then other people start bad mouthing him then the wife and this guy start getting heated with words then the mans wife gets involved and next thing you know security shows up tells the 2 couples they need to be on the opposite side of the bar. Security stays for the rest of karaoke.
  17. This type of itinerary is a game changer for me. Looking less than 2 years in the future I have finished school and am on the strict teachers schedule going to southern Caribbean in less than 9 nights is impossible with my schedule unless I’m going to San Juan which from Winnipeg Canada costs more per person than the cruise itself.
  18. Nope they announced that one while on the cruise you had to walk 3 minutes further but they were still there.
  19. On harmony right now and we are at Costa maya. Almost all of the royal Caribbean booked excursions were cancelled. We didn’t have one planned anyways as this was our walk around the port for a couple of hours then get back on the ship early stop. Everyone we saw was happy to have us there. We were the only ship in port today. Lots of people in the port area but it is a very nicely done up port. Also lots of people booked their own excursions and were fine. There were also excursions you could book in the port area with no issues. I saw people getting into cabs and there were no problems there either. Other than it being crazy humid it was a great day!
  20. Day 2: perfect Day at Coco Cay Woke up this morning at 7:15 and we were already docked! I’m very excited for this day and I can tell you right now it was perfect. Up to the windjammer for breakfast - I love the made to order eggs! We brought all our stuff with us to breakfast and now off to start our perfect day. We were in port until 4 so great time for a beach day. First we wandered the island a bit and took a bunch of pictures then it was off to the oasis lagoon for the morning! forgot to mention empress was in port with us today. The size difference was crazy! After a couple hours enjoying the pool and our loungers it was time to find lunch and the beach. By the way the water in the pool was cold like cold for a Canadian cold but I did get in and enjoyed. Lunch was at the shake shack I had the best mozzarella sticks - I was amazed they were fantastic! Then some giant jenga was played and some time was spent on the beach. Then back to oasis lagoon for some more swimming and lounging. At 3 we left and walked back to the ship past the market. Once on board the ship i went to Central Park and enjoyed some sangria while writing a blog entry. After this I headed to my cabin to shower and watch sail away from the balcony. Then I had a quick nap before dinner. french onion soup, short rib and creme brûlée was what I ate. Lobo the bar service waiter is amazing and always has my wine ready it’s fantastic! I love having the drink package it’s so good. next up was Greece good show I’ve seen it on land before but I love musicals so it was a must see for me! I can say it would not be the best choice for kids. After this it was time for karaoke the casino then bed. Almost forgot there was a lot of drama at karaoke tonight. I felt like I was watching one of those tv shows. more pics to come later of coco cay!
  21. Day 1 continued: Went the room and saw both our suitcases down the hall and grab them and unpack. Then off to the pool deck to swim and tan before muster - why have I never done this before it was great and not busy! Then quickly time to run and change before muster then sail away from deck 16 the sail away party was lame. Then time to sit on my balcony with a glass of wine before dinner. main dining room for dinner tonight second seating as we eat late in the city anyways. I had the French onion soup, the New York strop and cheesecake. It was all delicious! Next stop to the casino royal took my money way too fast then karaoke where lots of drama was present. Then pizza and water before bed. Tomorrow is perfect day at coco cay. I’m so excited!
  22. Saw the dancing in boleros last night and wow did everyone look great! I’ll never be that kind of dancer but it was still enjoyable to watch.
  23. Well just used next cruise to book a cruise for May of 2021. It’s a Hawaii to Vancouver cruise 10 night cruise and it’s a bucket list cruise for my mom. Any thoughts on radiance of the seas. We’ve cruised on freedom, Mariner, oasis x 3, liberty, symphony and harmony so mostly bigger ships. I’m a little nervous about the smaller ship any thoughts on that aspect? Any advice is helpful as we’ve only cruised the Caribbean and Mexico (when those cruises existed from California)
