    Yea... I think the days of claiming it's an IT glitch are long gone. At this point, it's a feature... not a bug.

    I do wonder about that... I think I read at one point it was "random", but would not be surprised to hear that all of their random selections were below the 10th percentile in terms of fare revenue (and betting the financial impact for A2S would enter in here).
    We're actually booked on Allure at the end of the month, and only need a flight to get my husband back to work on a plane while the kids and I do our grand tour of grandparents for the summer. I suspect ours will be oversold, too (first sailing after most southern schools are out). I think we'd take them up on the offer of a full refund and an alternate sailing, but we're traveling in a group of 4 cabins. We're also very low revenue (booked when the fare was inexplicably low, and hasn't come within 60% of it since then). Wondering if we'd be first on the chopping block because of our low fare, or last because of the group.

    I think it's a reliance on outdated booking trends. 
    In the past there were many calcellations before a sale date. 
    Guest have changed.  People aren't cancelling bookings on a whim anymore, or in the numbers they used to.
    Time to update the playbook.  What used to occur before the pandemic isn't relevant any more.

    To me, this [oversold situation popping up so frequently lately] screams that either RoyalUp isn't working OR they just don't trust RU to get the best $$ result. Obviously, whatever "buffer" inventory that they had been using in the past has been replaced with "sell it all and hope for the best". Desperation, much ?

    The solarium is a huge part of the advertising for RCL... Add another pool closure on top, and then a final sweetener that this is all so that the ship can make a nice debut when it gets to Galveston, and yeah... I'd be pretty upset, too.
    It's not just an inconvenience. They're actively robbing their customers today for a marketing gimmick they're unwilling to break their schedule for.

    I'm sorry, but I'm sick of everyone thinking one should be soooooo grateful to be cruising.  When I cruise, I pay for it and as of late it costs me way more than it did pre-covid.  In September I went on a 7 day Glacier cruise that at the last minute the Captain decided not to visit. No bad weather.  Nothing stopping them from going the week before or the week after and NOTHING stopping them from hawking the paid excursions to the same said glacier.  If they had informed us prior to the vacation we would be skipping the glacier...I assure you we would have booked something else.

    Other passengers are reporting that the beach pool is also closed.
    This seems like a "floating dry dock" to get the ship ready for Galveston. 
    I also would be very upset.

    Yea I forget where it is on the website, but there is a spot where they post things, not sure how far in advance but for example they’ve had it out there for a while now that the skyliner will be down for routine maintenance for a week in January 2023…I know they put resort pool closures there too

    I'm sorry I cannot stand people who defend cruise lines like they can do no wrong. They expect top dollar from me and I expect top service from them. And if you have a problem with that it's yours, not mine.

    Absolutely agree!  We are NOT the lucky ones.  RC is lucky we choose them over the myriad of other entertainment offerings!

    This! When you're planning a trip to Disneyworld/Disneyland you can see in advance which attractions will be closed for maintenance so you can plan and decide if you are willing to go on certain dates. 
    I agree that an emergency maintenance can't be notified but a scheduled maintenance can. So I agree with you, things can always be better and more transparent, and they should be.

    "Lucky to be able to cruise" Bull. People pay top dollar. I ain't Lucky. I ain't there for free. Emergency repairs are one thing. This sounds totally planned. And I am sick of hearing how much money cruise lines lost. That is there problem, not mine.

    Things happen for sure, but this sounds like a planned happening.  I certainly understand folks being upset that planned outages of this scope are not posted somewhere for consumption.
