  1. We're on the sailing after you on Ovation, which puts us at 35 days!
  2. I'm in the same boat on a Wonder sailing... Less than a year out and nothing in our planner either. It honestly looks like something about the whole thing is buggy (no splash image on the reservation in our planner). We usually book pretty far ahead and I don't remember coming across this before, but I also wasn't as diligent about checking. Normally I'd have a sailing or two to compare it to, but we've been slow to plan with the uncertainty.
  3. His chances of finding a way to break a bone, or even come down with appendicitis, are far more likely. We don't help move the needle by continuing to overstate risk.
  4. You probably have enough time to do expedited passport service by mail (5-7 weeks). If not, there are a number of passport offices where you can make an appointment and do it all in person (your appointment has to be within 5 days of your travel date, though you can call and make the appointment now). You can probably also expedite your mom's birth certificate (or drive to the county's public health department if relatively close).
  5. We're doing something close to what Jay said: private shuttle (through Capital Aeroporter) to downtown... $70 w/ tip included. Doing a few days there before the cruise. Our hotel does a shuttle to the port. After the cruise, we'll get a Lyft to our hotel at SeaTac and then take the hotel's shuttle to the airport the next morning. When it was just us, we took the light rail line to and from downtown. Kids and kid accessories made that kind of unattractive this time around.
  6. "Willing to take the chance"... Yet. And this is a conversation of pure hypotheticals. There is a painfully obvious business case to get rid of the protocols.
  7. Not really... "Some" doesn't equal "most" and once you consider that the extra 5% capacity is likely their fattest in terms of pure profit, it's a pretty big prize for them to go after as soon as it is possible (and beneficial) to do so.
  8. I'm not DoD but kind of DoD adjacent, and the hoops you have to jump through to get a CaC as a civil servant or contractor right now would absolutely boggle your mind (entirely due to staffing at OneStop). New employees, or those who had the misfortune of losing their ID, can easily go weeks without having one right now. Their only task is to get to OneStop at 7a, and hope there are enough spaces left after those in uniform get their appointments assigned.
  9. Same, and it was a good thought. I'm a military brat, and during one of the moves we made as a family my parents managed to lose my birth certificate. When it was time to get my learner's permit, the state we were in would not accept my dependent ID card to get the permit, but would accept it to get a non-driver's ID which they would then turn around to use to issue the learner's permit. Playing the bureaucracy against itself is part of the game, and your post actually gave me a thought that I don't think will work here: some DoD/Govt facilities offer recreational passes for non-affiliated visitors. They look like a chipless CAC in my neck of the woods.
  10. She said her son isn't a driver yet, so presumably they're going the non-driver route.
  11. Atlanta has an office and that would be on your way (probably). Both appear to be by appointment only, so you'd have to start calling ASAP to see where you could even get an appointment. I know it's a drive, but at this point the only sure thing is to get the passport or call your DMV and see if there's anyway to expedite that process. Or make the drive and risk being turned away in FL.
  12. Which is funny because of the whole having to wait a week for a driver's license thing. How expensive was the same day service?
  13. I think Jay may have meant to throw an "expired" in there somewhere
  14. Uggh... Sorry. How needlessly stressful! I think you can do an urgent travel passport in 5 business days. You may be inside of that window, though. Alabama used to do the whole mail you your ID card thing... They'd at least print a paper temporary and give you a digital ID while you were waiting. I'm sure it theoretically saves money to have the printing centralized, but with ID being so critical to function it seems like it just makes more problems.
  15. Does your DMV do the digital licenses now? That may be an option. Or some form of non-driver's license. Sometimes they're really wonky about what they can get for you same day.
  16. Many is doing a lot of work in that sentence... Thankfully most schools have come to their senses.
  17. Except they're in the process of running a KSF promotion without summer blackout dates. I'm sure going from 85% to a 100% capacity is a big enough carrot in terms of pure profit margin to make it worth their while.
  18. They want all of your nose gunk in the vial that's getting tested for COVID. If you just swabbed out your gunk for another test, you might not have as much to give.
  19. I'm sure that would technically invalidate your results on the proctored test. Not saying one shouldn't do it, but be wary of advertising the fact.
  20. I've never been on a Radiance-class ship, but agree wholeheartedly with the NCL criticism. Some of the new 4-5 day itineraries fit into our long weekend schedule, so might try to score one for a weekend away without the kids and give it a go. NOLA is our can-go-on-a whim port after our recent move, so I have a feeling it won't be long!
  21. Isn't it still the Breakaway out of New Orleans? Might be a tough sell if they're not already committed to RCL.
  22. Sure, more talking about length and how they're going to do the trade off between Galveston and NOLA. Can't imagine it would be worth their while to trade off more than a couple of times. Majesty also tacked on CoCo Cay to one of her itineraries in addition to the areas you listed.
