  1. I'm sailing 04/04 and "pending" as well.
  2. Batting .500!!! Nice! So how soon were you notified your bids were accepted? Day before cruise?
  3. I absolutely agree its going to get worse.....but still not near enough for me to adjust my travel plans. Google "SARS outbreak 2002" and see if it sounds familiar. I cruised in 2002, also. lol
  4. In related news: San Francisco Mayor London Breed has issued an emergency declaration aimed at preparing the city for a coronavirus outbreak – even though no cases of the new virus have been confirmed in the city.
  5. Its hot in South Carolina in October.....so I think you should be fine in the Bahamas and Jamaica. My family swims in the ocean here in SC in October, and think its warm enough. Water activities in Bahamas/Jamaica should be great. Thanks to Google, the avg. temp in Jamaica in October is 87, and in Bahamas its 81.....add in humidity and I think its plenty warm.
  6. Hey.....Ive seen the movie ALIVE....its not OUR fault history repeats itself, and were prepared!
  7. Brain: "you must resist the urge to joke about the dining package.....these people dont know your dark humor......" me: "aww, itll be fine! these people get it......" Brain: "remember last time...." me: "I didnt like that job anyway...."
  8. Im going to hope that my Royal Up bid gets accepted because people are irrational enough to cancel, and/or not go on their cruises. I will also worry more (which is to say hardly at all) about tripping over my kids toys and breaking my ankle, or getting in a car accident on the way to the port, or any other thing that is WAY more likely to happen. I will also wash my hands, and use hand sanitizer, as I ALWAYS do because people are disgusting, by nature.
  9. This is pretty much what's it's like ...
  10. ...and another taxi vote. I've taken taxi a couple times over, and it was as safe and easy as anywhere else I've ever taken a taxi.
  11. Ditto.......the only thing that doesnt get to relax on my cruises is my liver.... . Bottom line: TO EACH, THEIR OWN!!!! If you want to go big, or go home.....GO ALL THE WAY!!!!! If you want to never spend another dime once on board....you can do that and still have a good time.......so, ive heard. Our difference is what makes our time on this big blue ball equal parts amazing, and frustrating. HAPPY CRUISING, ALL!
  12. Youre speaking the gospel of @Matt ??. I really do get it. Its just not how I started cruising. I started before the big ships existed....specialty dining wasnt a thing....Coco Cay was nothing like it is now. I still fell in love with cruising....so I just come from a different perspective. I just wonder if (some) people wont cruise on Oasis class, purchasing EVERY OPTION AVAILABLE, and come away thinking THAT is how cruising has to be. Hey, if money was no object, id get it all too!!!! Lets be real.
  13. Devils Advocate, here : they will certainly have the cruising bug after having done all this......but where is there to go, but down, having cruised in a way that youve done it all? Pretty lofty standard to set to do EVERYTHING on your first cruise.....
  14. I am cruising with my wife, and two boys (8 and 4) and we are in one room. I looked at booking two rooms, larger rooms, etc. and it was an astronomical price difference. I can only share what ive learned in my research: There are rails that you can request. People on here, and even your room steward may tell you nobody under 6 or so should be on the top bunk. I say, you know your kids. I have zero fears with my 4 year old being on a bunk (he sleeps on a top bunk now). Heck, falling out of a top bunk in the middle of the night as a kid is a right of passage. I have slept in a pullman, as a full grown adult, and had no issue. So I cant imagine a 13 year old would. As far as enough room to relax.....depends on how you like to relax? Itll be cramped.
  15. It would seem, from Googling it, there is an area called Breezy Bay at Chill Island on Coco Cay. I had no idea...hadnt heard of it.....
  16. Cruisemapper is also an app. I love looking at ship locations, port schedules, etc. It's a nifty tool, for sure....and, I too am fond of the itinerary map. I love all maps, though....kind of a map geek.
  17. Looks like they had a great time. Darius Rucker performed and a they raised over 4 million dollars for cancer research. https://www.elevenwarriors.com/the-ohio-state-university/2020/02/112312/buckeye-cruise-for-cancer-raises-over-4-million-for-cancer-research-shattering-previous-record
  18. I have a coworker looking at one on Independence in Sept. that hits both. I keep telling her "YOLO, BOOK IT!"
  19. My soul? Im still paying the mortgage on it from a Brazilian steak house incident in 2011 .....but if youre saying there is better Chicago style pizza than Giordanos, youve got my interest. Ive been to Chicago once....and ive been smitten with Giordanos ever since.
  20. Id eat Giordanos pizza in a down right frigid breeze....
  21. It must be 50 degrees or above to grill. South Carolina law.
