  1. Hello everyone! Am I reading this right that the only time a price adjustment would work in our favor is to do the math and remove the OBC and other perks to see what you would have saved? For example: $100 OBC - current Price drop $ 50.00 I would lose the OBC, so not worth it. In other words, price adjustment has to be far greater than current OBC + perks?
  2. Yes, very grateful for that, and it's only a small amount that comes out of our taxes. I have US friends who pay thousands for tests ?
  3. That's too bad, it's expensive enough for Canadians to cruise ?
  4. That's fantastic. We only have one specialty dining (maybe Chops), but the Raspberry Rippled Pavlova and Amalfi Lemon Meringue Cheesecake from Jamie's has me drooling. I thought we might have to splurge and dine at both places, but only the desserts appeal to me. Just wondering if the staff find it too much work though? (they already have enough to do). Definitely will show our appreciation @Lovetocruise2002 ?
  5. The excursions sounds like a lot of fun! For the zip line, is there a way you can ask the tour operator if you can be on the landing area for when your husband finishes the zip line? That way you can see him approach, even take a good picture and he'll be in your sight line? Hope that helps
  6. Just wondering if you want a RC specific credit card, or a US credit card for Canadians?
  7. Re: room service attendants - that's good to know! Re: coffee - we like it HOT, will try it out and see, thanks! Re: real eggs - that's a huge relief! Thanks for all the info, very helpful ?
  8. ?I remember that too! We had a 15 minute package and had to go down to the computer room. Internet was so bad that by the time we got a good connection, we had already lost 5 minutes or more!
  9. We only ordered room service once (back in the day when all items were free). I actually don't mind that only the continental is complimentary. IMO, the breakfast items were not very good. Bacon was under cooked, eggs weren't real eggs and had a strange texture... 1/ We plan to tip several dollars as well, but do the room service attendants receive any additional tips that we pay? (out of the $14.50/pp/day) 2/ I saw a room service order form and it lists a blueberry muffin. Do you just write on it if you want a different flavor? Same with tea bags? 3/ Can anyone comment on how hot the coffee is? Many thanks!
  10. Congratulations on both your first cruise and your 15th anniversary! We celebrated our belated 15th anniversary on Oasis and found there was so much to do! We thought we could see it all and ended up totally exhausted. Really! At the end of our cruise, we needed another vacation!! I would like to suggest you don't do what we did. Pick the best shows you think will interest you (don't try and see all of them, unless you want to), and try to find time to relax. It was a pricey cruise for us, and our first time, so we were go, go, go! Next year will be our 25th anniversary, and I have to remember to slow down and really enjoy the ship. As many others mentioned, a recent cruise compass is handy. You can print one off and highlight what interests you. Will you be doing any excursions? I agree about the comedy show. We sat right in the front to get a good view and were picked on by the comedian. It was funny, but like @MikeK said, not everyone may appreciate the humor! There were definitely some R-rated jokes ...lol
  11. Thanks for all the info, much appreciated! Our first time around, we waited until the last day and we bought useless things. None of our family members like souvenirs (thank goodness). We have a small OBC, so we'll have to think carefully ...lol Counting the days .... thanks again! Thanks so much Matt! The sippy cups (as I call them) are what we're looking for. CocoCay is on day 7, so we'll leave some OBC for the straw market. Another question - if the sales are usually on the last day of our cruise, but we'll be in port, will they still have the sales on day 7 or change it to day 6?
  12. Thank you! Ugh, guess we'll have to buy them on our last day, which will be CocoCay. Just curious, if our last day (Day 7) will be in CocoCay, is the sale still on Day 7? Thanks for the info. What is the $10 sale? Will all these sales/dates be in the cruise planner?
  13. Hello everyone! 1/ I recall merchandise being on sale the last day of our cruise. Is that correct? 2/ I also was interested in buying some cups that have a lid and straw attached with the RCI logo like the picture attached (not the ones with a handle). Has anyone seen these on Harmony, and if so where? 3/ Has anyone see the CocoCay cups on Harmony? Wondering if I would have to purchase it at CocoCay only. Thanks!
  14. It would definitely be cheaper!
  15. That's great! Thanks, we have a mini hair dryer that is powerful and it's on my packing list ?
  16. Just a question here, I'm allergic to fragrance so I can't use the wrinkle release sprays. I prefer warm showers as well. I was planning to bring a spray bottle and spray water on our clothes, then use the hair dryer on low setting. Has anyone used this method?
  17. Welcome @morgan94 When we went on our first cruise (Oasis), it was expensive since we live in Canada, and it was a special vacation. We tried to squeeze in everything, and I mean all of it. We actually lost weight even though we ate more than normal. We went to bed late, woke up super early for all our excursions, walked the entire ship and rushed to every show. Everything was hurry, hurry, hurry. We loved the ship, but we were completely exhausted! I would suggest limiting the shows and activities so you can truly enjoy the ship, there isn't a need to see every single show, unless you want to ? For our next cruise, I'm being very selective about which shows to see and will definitely build in more R&R! BTW, our cruise is in Feb 2020, and I'm still tracking flights via Google flights ... still very pricey, but I do have a cut off date in mind. Enjoy ?
  18. So sorry to hear that Steve ? Your MEI rep sounds amazing though. I just checked their website just to take a look, and not sure I have the right one. It doesn't offer any quotes, I'd have to fill out the on-line form, is that correct?
  19. Thank you for the suggestion of WeChat! I read some of the critical reviews on the app review page, and concerned about the problems users are having though? I have a specific plan that unfortunately doesn't allow me to take part in an $8/day roaming plan. The cheapest plan for me (Canada) is $30/month for US Roaming Pass: Talk & Text. I think I'll have to stick with finding free WiFi. Thanks! I wish we had cheaper plans in Canada ?
  20. Hello everyone, just thought I'd add that I tried the WhatsApp to text a tour operator in San Juan from Canada and it worked. I was a bit apprehensive, but I made sure I was in airplane mode with WiFi on. I am curious though, when I'm in port and need to get a hold of the tour operator and there is no WiFi available, then I'm not sure how I could contact them. Same with when we're in Orlando and may need to contact the shuttle service. I don't think everyone has the WhatsApp?
  21. @Rob&Ana - thanks for your response. Gone are the days of midnight buffets ? I'm not sure how much variety or replenishment there would be near closing time. We rarely went to the WJ at dinner time, but will be interested to see what the theme nights offer this time.
